I’m on a Boat: What to Wear for a Yacht Cruise

    by Claire

    Ah Fashion Bombers!
Ever since I first watched the hilarious video “I’m on a Boat” by Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer featuring T-Pain, I’ve been looking for an excuse to feature it on the Fashion Bomb. Though entertaining, I couldn’t quite find the right fashion related post to go along with it….until we received the following seaworthy wardrobe query from reader Charlene.
She says, “I’m going to party on a yacht (held in the evening/night) and have no idea what to wear! I’m looking for something dressy but not over the top. I’m open to anything! :) Thanks in advance.”
When I think of yacht attire, I get images of lean prepsters holding cocktails while teetering on high stilettos. Go for saucy yet understated in a crisp white button down, a flashy mini skirt with sailor stripes, hot heels, and lots of gold jewelry.

The boat can get rocky, so don’t forget your flippy floppies:) Get the look here:

And if you’ve never seen the “I’m on a Boat” video, feast your eyes:

    Hilarity indeed.
    Enjoy!

Outfit under $100 : What to Wear to an Interview

    by Claire

Bombshell Sheree says, “I’m a fashion merchandising student going on a 2nd internship interview with Nordstrom next week! I feel like everything in my closet right now is just plain–there’s no wow factor! Can you help me find a cute look for under $100 to wear to my interview?”
Finding a complete outfit under $100 is certainly a feat, but we found a blouse, skirt, shoe, and bag combo for under $100 that should impress:

Amp up a subtle tweed pencil skirt with a frilly long sleeve blouse in a bright color that marries conservative with style. Show off a bit of your fierce personality with studded pumps, a cute bag with gold hardware, and flower studs:

    Good luck!

Valentine’s Day Style Inspiration : Pretty in Pink and Gray

    by Claire

Our Style Inspiration from yesterday got me thinking about other looks we could put together with a more casual bent.

Since V-Day falls on a Sunday, most of you will most likely opt for cute jeans over cocktail dresses. Whether you’re just starting a relationship or settling into an old one, you can’t go wrong in skinnies and pumps. Take a diversion from the bright red crowd in an outfit that marries classic gray with soft pink:

If it’s cold in your neck of the woods, throw on a chunky gray cardigan or jacket over a pale pink tank. Add touches of femininity with a flutter flower clutch, pink shoes, and pink studs:

Valentine’s Day Style Inspiration : Casual Cutie

    by Claire

    Hey!
So Leila from New York wrote in with a specific Style Inspiration request!

She said, “Can you do something a bit more casual? I have a date with a guy I’ve only been seeing a few weeks. It’s Sunday night, so I don’t want to dress up. And he’s short, so no heels!”
Sure! Wear your favorite slimming dark jeans with a pair of flat black boots; show your Valentine’s Day Spirit by either rocking a fun, tongue-in-cheek t-shirt, or incorporating a low cost red jacket. Add subtle touches like red nail polish, and finish by wearing a quilted cross body clutch or your standby black tote:

Here are a few separates that should help you achieve the look.

Have fun and stay tuned for more style inspirations for every budget!

Valentine’s Day Style Inspiration : The Dapper Gentleman

    by Claire

We’ve done plenty of Valentine’s Day preparation for the ladies, but not enough for the men!
Today’s look is for the dapper gentleman who wants to celebrate V-Day with subtlety:

Not one to go over the top in all red everything, this handsome stylisto favors a classic look consisting of a soft textured velvet blazer, crisp button down, and blinged out watch. He keeps it somewhat casual in dark wash jeans and references the holiday with pops of red in his sneakers and scarf.
Get the look for any budget below:

Note: Add a pair of sunglasses for extra swagger.
Guys, what do you think of today’s Style Inspiration?
