Today’s Bombshell is Yvie from Northern New Jersey! Take a look at a few of her snaps:

She says, “If I had to define my style I’d probably go for fun versatility.”

Yvie-From-New-Jersey-2“Fun because I love color, statement pieces (whether it be a pattern, shoe, or accessory), and eye catching details;”

Yvie-From-New-Jersey“Versatile because I don’t particularly draw inspiration from one style, trend, or fashion statement.”

“Also, living in a location where you experience 4 seasons of different weather, you have to be able to switch it up…stylishly of course.”

Yvie-From-New-Jersey-8“Overall, I like to dab into a little something something from everywhere.”

  1. She looks fine, but this (as with most of the bombshell submits) is NOT true bombshell style. The run of the mill clothes and styling paired with all those shoes pretty much nullify any true bombshell prospects. She’s very, very pretty though…..

I wish she would broaden her references, because I actually see a much more sophisticated girl under the ubiquitous clothes/styling. Pick it up a notch and reference designers/brands like Zero Maria Cornejo/Marni/Miu Miu or people like Thelma Golden or even Claire Dane or Sofia Coppola…..please stay away from the reality TV folks which screams cheap and common. The women I referenced have two things in common – they are all singular and they are cool. I see an artistic streak in this girl which needs a much more sophisticated expression. She has all the goods – just aspire to higher style than just your average Instagram chick with knockoff platforms. Study proportion – it is key (the proportions here are very pedestrian). Study the real references, not just the other girls online. Also, the best bombshells don’t dab all over the place. Dabbing is way of not committing. The best bombshells know the ORIGINAL inspiration and do NOT reference their peers. Find your style, perfect it and stick with it. This is pertinent as a blogger so that you have a very niche POV. You can’t be everything to everybody and the more you carve out your own personal style, the more you can speak to your audience.

Fewer really good pieces are better than a bunch of ‘stuff’. Good fabric, rich texture, good cuts, expensive color palette, timeless details all beat forced WOW-pieces any day.

  2. I think the belts detract from most of the outfits seen here and mess with her proportions a bit too much. Odd when she has such a nice, natural frame (and great hair)!

Fav Fit: fur vest get up.

  3. Lmaoooo at doctoral dissertation. .. hahahahahaha! She’s cool, but me personally I cannot tolerate hot pink shoes. Pink shoes scream cheap.

  4. But Iliketosmize raaaaaaaaapped! Like wow you had an essay! Lets see what your closet looks like. I challenge you to submit your bombshell photos.

  5. Nothing I haven’t seen before, but I love to see a well put together woman of color. Kudos.

  6. Ilike2smize, designing a comment in three paragraphs doesn’t make you a fashion expert if its heavily saturated with snide remarks, intimidation and assumptions that people are flocking Instagram for cheap “inspiration”. It does make you tacky, however. And tacky is never in style. Who died and made you Ana Wintour?
I don’t get it; if you don’t like the post, go on about your life, but instead the majority of you ladies decided it was in your best interest to post negativity and try to mask it as uplifting. Knock it off.
Anyway, her style is attainable and she doesn’t have to reference people such as Claire Danes and Sofia Coppola to turn heads because their style is essentially boring. Do you want her to break the bank in order to be a bombshell? Then perhaps we all should look to d-list reality stars if that’s what we are reaching for.

  7. Thanks Claire and the FBD team for this feature. Thanks to everyone who had CONSTRUCTIVE criticism…

I don’t wear cheap shoes or clothes… I don’t garner inspiration from girls on IG and def NOT any reality stars. Maybe if I wore nothing but bodycon dresses, cutouts and sheer paneling I could understand that but I don’t.

I didn’t realize Aldo, ZigiNY, LondonTrash, Steve Madden, etc were cheap. You don’t see Payless (no shade) or Rainbow or swap meat shoes on my feet. I really think some of you make it a mission to be negative because its always the SAME ppl with it.

My clothes come from the ordinary places that ppl shop and many small boutiques with limited items… I’m actually very particular about fabrics. Anyway…. I knew that there would be a good amount if negativey because I read FBD daily.

Either way, I appreciate all the comments. I’m glad I submitted… I’m a new blogger and vlogger so I hope you all keep checking in and visiting.

    Thanks again Claire & FBD.

    =)

  8. Very nice!!! @ ilike2smize…Do you work for the designers that you have mentioned???!!! Its never about whos name is on the label(designer clothes, shoes and bag…looking a hot smoking mess)….a fashionista could wear a potatoe sack and make it look good. @BlueIvyCarter….?????????????? I didn’t know the BABY could type yet…roflmao.

  9. Nothing that jumps out, but she is put together and it looks nice. Shoes need a bit of a upgrade…but over all she looks good.

  10. You look stunning in that last picture. I think the high poof (I don’t know what you’d call that) is a great hairstyle for you.

    I also like that romper!

  11. Her wardrobe looks inexpensive, which honestly is not a bad thing except that a true fashion bomb can take these inexpensive items and make them look rich and luxe. She isn’t off trend, but there is something about the way she dresses that screams “I NEED TO BE UPDATED” for some reason… pretty girl though.

  12. Hello, here’s some constructive feedback. I like your style generally. However,be careful with some of the shoe choices. I think some of the heels are too heavy for some of the looks, they sometimes become distracting. Ex. hot pink and white platform heels. I would love to also see you in other silhouettes ex. an A line skirt, I see a lot of one piece items with waist belts. However, besides that I think your very put together.

In terms of the comments about buying brand names. I thought people knew better than to think that buying expensive things is a prerequisite to looking good or being a bombshell. Cause I seen girls who shop at thrift stores or target look better than some people with can afford whatever they like. If you don’t know how to style your self than it does not matter how much the item is.
    Have a good day everyone

  13. Mostly hits…especially love the b/w maxi dress look. The second and the last two looks are nice although maybe I would wear lighter shoes or sandals with them. Cute hairstyles, too.

  14. Cute girl, lovely hairstyles and the fashions look good on you. You made them YOUR OWN. Keep it up!

  15. Ummmmmmm Her clothes look inexpensive, especially her shoes! Ugh *barf* Your shoes do not have to have a red sole or be made at a prestigious fashion house in Italy or something but here’s a very Important rule! You don’t have to splurge on clothes in fact it’s wiser to NOT splurge on clothing items but you have to at least invest in your shoes, so it can balance things out you know mix highs with lows… You can spend twenty bucks on an outfit but a true fashionista should be able to make it look like she/he spent a million bucks.

  16. Very beautiful girl… I think I know what needs to be updated though- the accessories. I like the romper and the fur vest.

  17. KEEP DOING YOU, ALOT OF THE FEEDBACK IS GARBAGE. THE PEOPLE THAT WRITE ALL THE NEGATIVE STUFF ARE ALL PEOPLE WITH NO FASHION SENSE OF THEIR OWN. THEY HIDE BEHIND COMPUTERS WITH VERY TERRIBLE COMMENTS. YOU LOOK GREAT AND SO WERE ALL OF YOUR LOOKS. KEEP DOING YOU !!!

  18. I agree with liketosmize and don’t see her comment as negative. She is recognizing that this poster has potential( (she’s cute, nice frame, nice hair, not ratchet), but her style indeed is very pedestrian. I think liketosmize’s references are intended to inspire some originality and help the poster identify inspiration that will help her to refine her unique look and elevate her style.

Yvie- tip for you, don’t be defensive about the feedback. You don’t have to agree with everything, but some times the comments are from people who have seen the “next level” and would like to see you get there. Some of these posters are hopeless. You have potential if you are willing to grow. Lastly, you need to lose all of those shoes. Those shoe brands you mentioned tend to make cheesy shoes. You’d be better off with a couple of nice shoes vs multiple pairs of cheesy shoes.

  19. My comment (above) posted prematurely. … Anon@9:00am. I meant to end with “good luck” to you.

  20. Hate the shoes. Step away from those clunky, super high heels. They do nothing for your legs. The super high puffy bun was too cute.

  21. I agree with the previous poster and is some advice I need to take myself. .. but your outfits would look 10x better if you had a nicer spite. Instead of buying 5 aldo shoes I would invest in 1 really nice long lasting shoe..miu miu loubi whatever. But shoes really define your look

  22. Police say a local woman was traumatized when a man ran into traffic on Statesville Boulevard Wednesday night, jumped into her car and made her drive away. (8/28/2014)More >>
