Hey Guys!
Cierra from Durham, North Carolina is kicking off our Fashion Bombshell goodness for the week:

She says, “I would describe my style as comfortable and chic.”

“… I have always been a curvy girl, so growing up it was always so hard to find cute clothing that fit my body. In recent years I have learned to embrace my body and find my own personal style.”

” I am grateful for stores such as Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Asos, Torrid, and Faith 21. These stores provide young curvy girls with trendy and affordable clothing.”

” One thing I have learned is that you should always “Try it On”. If the size is not yours, still try it on because it may work for you.”

” I love bold jewelry, body con skirts, blazers and pumps. I want to be an inspiration to plus size women in general. Fashion is a form of expression and I think we should embrace that!”

Cute looks Cierra! Love, love, loving your bold red jacket!
What do you guys think?
*Of course our Bombshell has a blog as well! Check her out at www.gibsonchic.blogspot.com.

  1. Perfection Honey!!! She’s definitely setting an example for the more curvy women in fact it’s like a brethe of fresh air. Style is super duper cool, cute, and comfy at the same time stop hating @ Esme. It’s about time the bigger girls embrace their curves and we embrace them she looks adorable! I’m tired of seeing these big bleep* girls walking around looking a hot mess with clothes that are too small and trashy at the same time. Very cute Cierra!!

  2. @star excuse you, giving my opinion, which i’m entitled to do, is not hating. you choose to misconstrue it, the same way some people could interpret all your commentary as kissing cierra’s ass because she’s a big girl. i don’t have a problem with larger women, i’ve seen plenty who are well dressed. i don’t believe this person is one of them and i believe i reflected that in my commentary when i said her outfits were not my cup of tea.

  3. If I have some negative to say about a fashionbomb I would rather say nothing at all….. Cierra I am loving your blazers/jackets bold choices that willwould be great additions to any outfits.Continue to express yourself!

  4. @Esme, I’ve noticed that you really don’t have anything nice to say about anybody that is featured on fashionbomb. it’s people like you that try to bring dwn others, but what I want to do is inspire others. the one thing I don’t want people to do is cater to me just because Im bigger, so to say someone is kissing my ass because I’m big really doesn’t make any sense? I respect your constructive criticism; however if you don’t have anything respectful to say, then don’t say it at all. thanks!

thank you Claire for this feature and thank you to everyone else for the positive feedback :)

  5. Outfits look great! Beautiful and confident! Love the outfit with the red blazer especially. Go girl!

  6. I love the second and third photo. The shoes in the second photo are to die for. Very nice.

  7. @cierra-that’s hyperbole, i compliment the people who’s style i like. this is the commentary section on a fashion blog, and if i just simply said your style wasn’t my cup of tea. that’s it and that’s all. sorry if you don’t like that, and if you perceive that as “disrespectful” i think that’s crazy, but you put yourself out there for scrutiny. i’m not going to refrain from saying what i think because you don’t like it. if you want some constructive criticism to expound on my original commentary: wear dresses, they look better on you. and yea, to me star, appeared to be assuming i didn’t like your style because you were larger, and thus surmised i was hating, and as an overresponse to these assumptions also went and on and on about plus size women in general, “It’s about time the bigger girls embrace their curves and we embrace them she looks adorable! I’m tired of seeing these big bleep* girls walking around looking a hot mess with clothes that are too small and trashy at the same time.” much of her commentary seemed to have to do more with defending plus size women from some perceived threat then your personal style.

this is the style of a larger lady that i love: http://www.youngfatandfabulous.com/

@lish- oh please. that’s your choice. and you’re more then entitled to do what you want. so am i, and not going to be scolded for giving my opinion, which you just did. did i make a personal attacks? no. i simply said this person’s style wasn’t my cup of tea.

  8. In Esme’s defense (not that you need me to defend you). We shouldn’t attack anyone for their opinions. Some of the most fashionable people in the world have been critcized a time or two. If your style is not someone’s cup of tea than that’s their opinion. Some people like super edgy style and others like simple chic styles. We can all think of someone’s style that doesn’t necessarily appeal to us. We can’t win everyone over and it doesn’t mean that they are hating either. Esme chose to give her opinion and she is entitled to it. The two blogs she mentioned def have great style, but, they can tell you themselves, that not everyone likes their style either. So, let’s not bash each other.

However, my faves are pic 1 and pic 2 (love the red jacket). Cierra, I think your looks are super cute and will inspire other curvy girls.

  9. @esme: I am not going to sit here and argue with you…thanks for your criticsm I will keep it in mind!

thank you to everyone for the love!!

  10. oh and I looooovvve those two blogs! there normally where I visit for my daily fatshion inspiration :D

  11. I dig your style. You do a great job of dressing your body type. I know I get tired of seeing people on here who just submit one or two pics where they are dressed to the nines for a night out on the town of some event. Its nice to see many different examples of your style, which leads me to believe that you dress this way on the daily and didn’t just submit 2 pics where you were looking great that particular day.

  12. I think you would look amazing investing in blazers that are more structured and hit you at at the hip and A-line skirts/dresses that hit the knee and wider legged jeans/trousers. V-neck tops would also narrow out your shoulders and accentuate your bust.

This is why I say trends are dangerous, because women do not dress for their body type. Your size is not an issue, I think your size is perfectly fine. But your clothes aren’t flattering. You’ve got great legs and “girls” lol work that. You just have to know what to play up and what to play down. You should balance you lower half with your upper half and create the illusion of a waist line, that’s why I recommend a-line dresses and boot cut jeans.

  13. And style is all about knowing your body and knowing what works for it. Calling your style “edgy” or “classic” means little those are just phrases people use that man little. Usually it just means they’re trying to copy some aesthetic they saw some where, but I digress lol.

You have to know what your flaws are and what your strengths are and dress accordingly. Then you will develop a personal style, which should be the ultimate goal.

  14. I wholeheartedly concur w/ esme (girl you gave your opinion, explained it and was NOT nasty – kudos) and I agree w/ Tia B.

I think people who know next to nothing about fashion/style are the same ones who still use the term “fierce” (I hope I never hear that one again).

But overall Ms. Cierra does look nice but I do feel she can do a lot more. ;-)

  15. Well the question for these fashionbombs is “what do you guys think?” I agree with nope! esme told what she thought and didn’t do it in a nasty way she just gave her opinion.
The striped dress is my fav..and i like the jeans with the navy blue top (love the shoes) the other looks i don’t care for much but its nothing personal just my o

  16. @Cierra, all of your shoes are so hot! Love the second look and that houndstooth jacket :)

  17. @Tia B. I think she is dressing for her shape. One can’t wear boot cut jeans, v-necks and blazers 24/7. Everything she’s wearing is flattering.

  18. This is ridiculous!!! I’m not kissing your ass i just simply think your style is adorable and flattering… You know what everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that was mine. I agree if u have nothing nice to say simply say nothing at all, but I have to keep in mind that this is a blog so ppl will have hurting commentary which I think is clearly irrelevant if u don’t like what u see keep it moving. I’m grown and I am not going to keep responding to stupidity like I’m a child. 10-4

  19. @star- you know what was stupid? assuming i didn’t like this person’s style because she was large. if you decide to perceive my opinion as hurtful, then that’s your perception and i really don’t give a flying f**k, but don’t try to paint me as someone who is discriminating against all larger women because i dared to openley criticize one. that’s asinine. and don’t try to tell me that i should keep my opinion to myself, because i could tell you the exact same thing about YOUR opinions.

  20. It’s sooo funny that the esme girl keeps going back and forth with the arguing and this was posted three days ago lol let’s keep it about fashion people! Cierra you look great love the shoes especially!

  21. @liyah

    that’s because:
    1. i’m not going to be told not to say what i think for any reason
    2. i refuse to be painted as someone who discriminates against larger people or anyone else. you would probably want to defend yourself against an assumption like that too.

  22. Is it really necessry to comment if you don’t have something positive to say? We are all individuals with individuality! Keep it respectful, the world will still turn without negative comments.

  23. I like the first out fit but I dont care too much for the other ones. I am a big girl also and I beleive that with our body types ( because we have similiar ones) skirts and dresses look best on us. And in MY PERSONAL OPINION FOR MY BELLY SPANKS/BODY MAGIC DOESNT HURT EITHER. IM TALKING ABOUT ME NOT HER

  24. She is top heavy, and she needs something that will help us not pay attention to her shoulders and create a waist line. get thick belts, darker colored blazers to shrink your top. Stay away from jeans unless you have a long dress like shirt with a belt. You need to create structure in your body. thank you for posting!
