Rounding out this week is Brandi from Orlando, Florida:

She says, “In Florida we are often overlooked for our fashion.”

” I am an ambitious 25-year-old looking to make an imprint on the world. A PhD student studying Public Policy, I look to street style and celebrity fashion to create a look that is mine: simple yet chic.”

” I am a tomboy who learned to love fashion for how it makes me feel and who it makes me become. “

“I recently launched my website www.limitdeditionstyling.com offering Wardrobe/Personal Styling for every budget.”

” I hope to one day style for Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, and Harpers Bazaar but for now I am a Contributing Editor to Orlando’s BRINK Magazine and a writer on 2 blogs: www.limtdedition.blogspot.com and www.lyricalmuze.tumblr.com.”

” I am a dreamer and I dream in 3D.”
I love your bold confidence. You don’t shy away from patterns, stacked jewelry, funky shoes, or even quirky glasses. Cute!

  1. I think she’s super cute. She puts looks together in a way that I would not do, but I think she makes it work. I think she should be careful with some of her jewelry choices. One never wants to be too matchy and those peacock earrings with the hounds tooth shirt just don’t work.

  2. Her style is okay..kind of boring..She dresses well for a big girl….I like the leopard shoes..(had to zoom in to see them)

  3. @Empress. You’re comment is insulting. It should be “she dresses well PERIOD.” The “for a big girl” is unnecessary and offensive.

  4. Picture 1,3,and 5 are dope. I don’t like any of the shoe choices :/. LOVE that everything fits the way its suppose to! I know girls half your size that don’t/can’t/wont wear clothes that fit them to save their lives……

  5. I think she’s super cute. I would have never guessed she was 25; her style is very youthful. The only look that through me off was the tunic & oxfords. I would have ditched the leggings & necklace & layered a light knit cardigan over the tunic with a some sort of longer necklace.

PS. In the look with the sweatshirt, where is the peach skirt/dress from? I love it!

  6. @Empress “She dresses well for a big girl”???? So are plus size women ONLY supposed to rock nothing but baggy, saggy, boring and bland clothes from Lane Bryant and Torrid?

    You tried it.

  7. OMGosh! Gorgeous!! I love the pic with the flowery dress, denim vest, and the glasses! The hair just pulls the whole look together. I’ll definitely be trying that one. Work it lady!! :D

  8. I dig the fact that she is wearing fitted clothing and it is flattering. A majority of women can’t pull that off period. Wouldn’t have worn the vest w that dress though. “Before you leave the house, take one thing off” That would b best for her. But she goes for a different look each time w/o playing dress up, and she looks good.

  9. Thank you Ms. Jaida! I thought I was the only one who caught the “she dresses well for a big girl comment.” The comments on here kill me.

On another note I LOVE Brandi! She has definitely given me some inspiration :)

  10. Brandi, I like your style :) can you please tell me where you got the maxi? I’ve been looking for a solid colored maxi for plus sized girls online

  11. I appreciate the fact that her clothes complement her frame. She doesn’t shy away from fitted styles, and it works for her. More power to her!
PS- I don’t agree with the votes. I hate to assume why there are so many hmmm’s…but to each their own! :)

  12. I agree with whoever said that she dresses well for a big girl! However I would have like to see her in less stretchy fabrics and more stylish clothing. #that’s all!

  13. Brandi, I love ur style gurl. Ur a bbw with style and brains… PhD student!!! Ef these haters Dr. brandi. An educated sista… LUV IT

  14. She’s very cute and I love her mix of prints and bold colors. I don’t think spandex is the right material for her as it doesn’t complement her frame. I think she should go for skirts that flow more, like the pink maxi in the pic above.

  15. very cute girl and Im diggin her style. I agree she works body con well and it doesnt look cheap or bad on her at all. I know I’ve rocked it sometimes and it does nothing for me. Im not digging the print outfirt with the colored sunnies bc it seems gimmicky but overall….Good job!!!

  16. I agree her size shouldn’t matter. I love her style it is playful. I get a nice sense of her personality. I can’t ask for more. Super cute :)

  17. She is a cute girl and she wears the clothes well for her size. Her style makes her seem really outgoing and fun.

  18. @Jaida and Brittany..You b*tches need to shutup..What I said was NOT meant to be negative! You people scrutinize every comment someone makes..Yes, I said “well for a big girl”..just like others who made a comment that said “fits her frame” and someone else also agreed at my comment!..I never said anything about only wearing Torrid etc..Some of the big girls I see..wear tight clothing that shows all their rolls etc..In her case..her outfits are cute sexy and fitted WELL FOR A BIG GIRL!..STFU..I can say WTF I WANT AND HOW I WANT!!!!!!..FOH

  19. Love the floral dress and denim vest and the houndstooth outfit the best and love most of the shoes especially the wedges. Great style.

  20. women should stay away from too tight clothing and strechy material its not flattering on anybody at all and i am not a fan of tight clothing period. I am not sure if her fabric choices are right for her body and frame.Kudos for the confidence, style wise not so much. Do love the hair though.

  21. I really like the baby pink shift dress, the maxi-skirt look and the last look and her shoe game stays on point. Also, it’s great to see a fashion bombshell whose personality comes through so well, and Brandi’s ambition is inspiring :)

  22. really? no ma’am. when did the unstylish start giving out advice? big or not–this is bunk. please stick to your degree in public policy and help fix this debt crisis. you are more needed there.

  23. Some of the FB pieces are cute and her personality definitely shines through. I admire this blog for its innovative posts, and tasteful and informed comments from its readers. However, @Empress, that retort was absolutely tasteless and certainly reminiscent of the comments made on unsavoury blogs smh

  24. It is my opinion that LEGGINGS are the spawn of the devil.

Leggings are never done well on anyone, small/medium/large.

  25. It is my opinion that LEGGINGS are the spawn of the devil.

Leggings are never done well on anyone, small/medium/large.

  26. From one Florida gal to another…LOVE IT! You look great and PHD cred isn’t bad either..do it up!!

  27. Very cute…really fun and colorful…some stuff seems a little off in a couple outfits, like they don’t quite go, but overall I really like her style!!

  28. She dresses cute, but me being from the south, I see nothing here that I wouldn’t see on any other stylish chick walking around. Also, she could cool out on a lot of that tight, spandex stuff and go for more flattering structured material..so I’d say 7/10

  29. I know she is a young girl trying to keep up with trends, but she’d fair better with classy staple pieces. These outfits look very cheap and silly.

  30. Ladies ladies ladies! Brandi, u got it girl, I love your style and most of all tiera focused and educated sister of mine! Love ya!

  31. She has some very cute pieces that I’m going to need to details on.. specifically her wooden bangles and that peach maxi skirt! LOL

    Dish, dish!!!!

  32. The leopard print shoes in the first pic, please, where are they from????? Really like them….

  33. Brandi is an above awesome woman. Yes, she is black beautiful AND educated, but she is featured on this site because in addition to all of that she is unique. Whether the people on this site realize it or not, minimizing a compliment after giving shows a weakness in ones self. Brandi is not only beautifully well dressed for a big girl, she dresses well for a woman period. Her style is courageous and edgy and you can tell by looking at her that she brings her personality into a lot of her pieces. It is so easy to look at magazines and blogs and copy what you see others doing, it is another thing to blaze your own trail. Thanks for being fearlessly fashionable girl!

  34. She’s super cute she looks comfortable and confident in her own skin and wordrobe props to her and good looks on getting her PHd very inspiring! ;)

  35. GORG! && SOME OF YOU ARE SUCH HATERS..BUT I BET YOU ALL WOULD NEVER HAVE THE COURAGE AND OR STYLE TO ATTEMPT TO BE ****FBOTD**** NONE OF YOU ARE JUNE AMBROSE SO STOP WITH THE NEGATIVITY! WITH ALL THAT SAID YOU GO MAMA PHD THO @ 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  36. @Empress….

In this ultra PC environment, you know you’re supposed to sugar coat your opinions. Instead of big you say…curvy. Other wise they will say you have a fat phobia and are a mean girl. No one wants to hear the truth now days. The only people you can really critique are the skinny chicks cause…well… who in the hell do they think they are *smh*

  37. @Bronze…I like your post..You’re so right..the world is very sensitive…Smh….

  38. Like everyone else, love the fact that she’s 25 working on her PhD. Her style on the other hand…idk. The only outfit I like is the sweatshirt/peach maxi combo. Everything else just doesn’t seem to go together. She looks uber confident nonetheless:)

  39. I love the leopard wedges, grey stretch pencil skirt, and the peach maxi skirt outfit. She has a cute, quirky style that works for her. Original, refreshing, cute!

  40. I agree with @Empress and @Bronze people are way too sensitive.
I thinks its great thaty she is working on her PhD..Kudos to that, but to the outfits not so much. Spandex and leggings should be outlawed…point..blank…period!!

And, I am so tired of people calling obese/morbidly obese women curvey, thick, etc. No your not. Not to sound mean and not speaking directly at todays bomb but black women WE NEED to start taking BETTER care of ourselves. We’re taking this Big is beautiful thing way too far. Yes you may be beautiful personality and other wise and you MAY be healthy for now…but what happens years on down the line as you get older…???

  41. “I know she is a young girl trying to keep up with trends, but she’d fair better with classy staple pieces. These outfits look very cheap and silly.”

^^^Cosign!!! I would also like to add that her clothes are neither age or size appropriate. She’s a smart woman, she deserves better.

  42. came to the post late but have to say i agree with empress, especially bronze and anon just took the words out of my mouth. i am also sick and tired of the black community encouraging obesity and want to hide behind being curvy and proud. If big girls want to walk around in skinny girls clothes lose weight and take are of yourself and thats real talk right right. having said that i am proud that this young one is educated and has a phd but these clothes do not scream educated and smart at all. like somebody said you deserve better than this

  43. You all are missing the obvious point being that there is no need to even bring her size into it. She dresses well PERIOD should be the comment. Everyone always wants to comment on a person’s size if they feel like the bombshell is overweight. It’s unfair criticism. We should focus on the clothes. Just because a bombshell is bigger doesn’t mean that weight comments are justified.
ANON, Love and whomever else I missed that is automatically assuming she is unhealthy. You are ignorant. You cannot tell if a person is unhealthy strictly by looking at them from the outside. A person can be thin and have poor health.

  44. @love, ANON, Veee and Empress. I completely agree. I know this girl and it doesn’t make you a HATER if you don’t like someone’s style or they way they look in certain fabrics. Not that it matters because with ‘personal style’, to each his own. Its just the fact that, some people wake up one day and decide to proclaim themselves fashion stylists and throw themselves into trends, not knowing that everything doesn’t work for them.

and Claire you’ve got to do better with these Bombshells. I understand where you’re coming from giving everyone a chance BUT some of these girls are tacky and just copying trends.

  45. i have just sat and read every comment on this bomb of the day. do i like her style? well in some cases i do. i am a plus size woman i am healthy, conscious and aware of my size and health. how many smaller ppl have visited their doctor like me? probably none! don’t assume skinny does not always mean healthy. i have entered to be a bomb and haven’t got chosen my style may be better then some or a few but IT’S MY STYLE style has nothing to do with weight for this to be a fashion blog seems as if we’re talking about everything EXCEPT FASHION.

  46. nope. don’t like her style. she’s a beautiful girl for sure but her style does nothing to flatter that beauty.

  47. If I was this chick (I think she’s a chick), I wouldn’t want anyone to see me…ever.
