  1. Diaspora my a$$! The greatest lie someone can tell is assure you that you came from somewhere else. They told so called black people in America that they were African just so they could steal their birthright to the land. Just because we’re dark doesn’t mean we’re from Africa. And you wonder why dark people don’t get along. We’re not the same people!

  2. Stay in school cause fashion is not your lane. I am so tired of girls wearing platforms and they have bird legs. Not cute. Overall? Very basic.

  3. OK calm down Miss Medusa , the reason Black people don’t get along is because of people like you. Who cares where a person is from, we are all Black, we should learn to build each other up…rather than thinking you are better than somebody because you were born anywhere but Africa. Child Please…Anyways her style is her own…that is all.

  4. Claire said she had like over 600 submissions to go through… I know this can’t be the creme a la creme.

  5. Claire said she had like over 600 submissions to go through… I know this can’t be the creme a la creme.

  6. You can wear inexpensive clothing and not look inexpensive. Unfortunately, she looks inexpensive, especially the shoes. I particularly dislike the shoes being paired with every outfit from a color, fabric, detail and style standpoint.

Random, is it common for Africans to attend medical school in the Ukraine? She isn’t the first bombshell.

  7. @Miss Medusa please go back to school, black people are not indigenous to North America, unless you are Native American sit all the way down, your people came on ships. And no we Africans couldn’t give two fakks about getting along with your uneducated self we got better things to worry about than what some delusional African American woman thinks. Second @Miss Tahlyuh plenty of people black and white study medicine in Eastern Europe not everyone can afford to lose two kidneys in order to get an education, the american dream of endless student loans is not bomb.

  8. Some of the weave pieces were not the best look. I love her tiny and curvy shape, but thats about it.

  9. Melody’s fashion choices are satisfactory. She wore everything well, but I think she had hits and misses. My favorite choices were the relaxed jean look and the khaki skirt with the denim button down. Melody, if you read this, I wish you the best with your education!

@ Riley, please do not speak for all Africans. Your comment to Miss Medusa was uncalled for. Specifically this part, “And no we Africans couldn’t give two fakks about getting along with your uneducated self we got better things to worry about than what some delusional African American woman thinks.” Although you targeted her specifically, I think it’s impossible to elevate ones self while bringing others down. Thank you kindly and that is all.

  10. @ Riley…the native Americans were the people you call “black” today…the whole world was filled with melanated people, so how did the so-called Indians with feathers in their hair come to be…they didn’t just come from nowhere! so-called Asians made a short sojourn in the Americas and mixed with some of the “black” people or Moors that were already here…and that’s how the “Indians” came to be…they are not the true indigenous folk of the land So, who’s uneducated Riley? the Caucasian man told the darker people that they were slaves so they could have the land and the birthright. I heard this was the real Moroccan Empire and the Emperor lived in New York…hello!…the EMPIRE STATE…duh!!!!!!

  11. Well this comment section is totally irrelevant to the post.

The shoes destroyed every single outfit. Where are those dreadful things from? They’re in every shot and in different colors, overload!!!

  12. I think she’s cute; style might be sort of regular, but she looks happy and confident, and her clothes flatter her body type. Could we maybe stop throwing shade at folks for not looking “expensive?” Pretty sure med school and achieving dreams (and looking cute, to top it off) is better than being broke in Louboutins.

  13. Just NO. The shoes alone are KILLING me. They look big and clunky. Colors are doing toooo much. The weave is also competing with the shoes. I think a serious toning down would benefit her. Simple jeans and slouchy tee with her frame would work wonders. Just no. SN: Happy to see and hear about her accomplishments however.

  14. Thank you Big Neef! @Riley Moors + Asians = native Americans. Please educate YOURSELF. Moors were black people who were in North America long before any European slave boat ever docked on the shores of America. Ugh, I know this irrelevant to the post, but black people who do not know their history is so disheartening.

  15. (Now wonders if she can get her pharmacy degree in Eastern Europe…)

She’s so very pretty and should model! The outfits had one thing ‘off’ for the most part. For example, the sparkle shoes with the khaki skirt or the ‘Lil Orphan Annie wig with the black pencil skirt.

Perhaps what I see as ‘off’ is her interpretation of quirky?

Fav Fit: last one. It seems more authentic (and cohesive) to the fun vibe she’s giving off. Also like the striped dress on her.

  16. Wow you guys are behaving today, I was scared to open the comment box! She appears young, and just appears to be playing dress up. I’m hoping as she grows up she will grow into her style, and understand what colours, textures, and things work for her body.

  17. Wow I have never seen so many haters on ONE person who obviously is doing very well with her life as she is clearly going to be a Doctoe some day. I’m also pretty sure that 90% or ALL of ou giving bad comments about melody are black. So typical of our people to want to being each other down. So what if you do to like her shoes? Is that only thing you can hate on? How about a “Wow Melody girl congrats on you trying to be a doctor”? Black people. That’s why we will never get anywhere. Thank gosh most of my followers on my blog are non-blacks. They are the only ones who compliment me constructively instead of bashing me! Anyway, Melody from one blogger to another who also happens to be black….great job and keep up the good work. Do to let negative comments host you back. If these haters were as beautiful, creative and as smart as you, I’m sure they would want to be bloggers so that the world could see instead of hiding behind their cellphones and computers and bringing you down as they can’t find anything else to say about you. Go girl and I will tell my Readers 14,286 of them to checkout your blog! Good luck! SMH @ haters!

  18. Wow, it’s not about the fashion anymore.

‘Black Blogger’, how old are you? This site is about fashion, not careers. Some people aren’t going to like her shoes, hair, etc. We talk about style. With that said, no one has said anything negative regarding her career choice. Your crazy is showing, Black people hating other blacks for being…black, or sharing their opinion is crazy. Like mentally ill crazy. It’s just fashion, lighten up. There’s no need to write on your intense hatred of ‘common’ blacks and love for your non-black saviors that are needed to boost your self-esteem.

  19. @Black Blogger: chile cheese! Getting back to the topic at hand, she does look like she got outfitted at Build a Bear Workshop. Very put together, and not in a good way. Nonetheless, I applaud her for her academic accomplishments.

  20. I have no idea why this bomber brought out the crazies! From one person who wants to separate herself from others because she’s not from Africa.. foolish goat…I’m not going to address you. Then the stupidest of all commentary @black blogger. I saw nothing but positive comments regarding her future endeavors in medicine. And the fact that you hold non-blacks so highly I’ll say one thing, when push comes to shove, you ain’t them and you will never belong so continue to worship the ground they walk on.

From one Nigerian pre-med (4th year) to another, your style reminds me of stereotypical Naija attire. Polishness is missing. Good luck in your future career and drop the extra curriculars.

  21. @ Black Blogger, My dear this not career.com it is fashionbombdaily.com. Therefore people submit their pictures with the knowledge that they will receive positive feedback, negative critique or both. I must say i found all her looks uninspiring and just generally underwhelming.

  22. Hahahaha, you know what sometimes I just wanna scream…. When I read about color this and color that… Tiring really. I am truly exhausted by it. And I am biracial, or how you call that in English(european, englishis not my first language :P ).. Anyway, about Melody, I just so love that striped dress, the black and white, and the denim blouse with the camelbrown skirt. In love with those two. And like some others I can’t get over the shoes. They just ruin the outfits for me. And I am not hating, just looking at the fashion :)

  23. The only thing I can say is that I’d recommend a better quality curly wig. But at the same time I know she’s only able to work with what she has right now.

And we might not like her fashion choices but it’s cool that she’s brave and confident enough to put herself out there, for style vultures to pick at her.

I think she looked awesome in the black and white stripe dress. Her clothes fit well. I like the way she took risks with what she wore. Fashion is all about what the individual likes and what they think expresses them on any given day.

When all is said and done it doesn’t even matter what we think or say that’s good or bad about what she’s wearing.

My hope is that she will do well in school and become an excellent doctor.

I’d also love to see how some of her critics are putting themselves together. Do y’all look like a Versace fashion show coming down the sidewalk? I think NOT!

Most people don’t and that’s totally OK! Fashion is about doing what YOU want, how you want, no apologies, or explaining yourself. End of story. Haters are just blowing hot air.

    The Stylist has spoken……

  24. @Medusa…We Africans aren’t claiming you, honey. We dont want your kind and by your kind I mean the kind that is in denial and under educated.

  25. Congratulations on the medical degree in progress. We are proud of accomplished sisters like you!! (Regardless of where you’re from within the diaspora)

Unfortunately your fashion is another story. Your clothes are not cute, shoes are tacky and your hair needs an intervention!

The good news is that your education and pending credentials are far more important than fashion. The bad news is you have a way to go in the fashion department.

  26. All of her shoes made my eyes bleed!

Her style isn’t awful, but everything looks thrown together…in the dark…

  27. Pretty girl. Congrats on your accomplishments. Great figure. The hair and the shoes demote every look.

  28. Claire …. My love… I beg of you please stop submitting these Nigerian Ukrainians. THEY ALLL LOOK AND DRESS the same. I wouldn’t be shocked if they email you together. Some of these sceneries even look the same.

    …also

Call me a hater, but I am so over everyone complimenting these Nigerian Ukranian’s “Academic Accolades”. As a Nigerian… um its not that difficult AT ALL to get into a Ukraine Medical School.

…also As for all of this indirect self-hatred, GOSHHHHH I wish we would stop talking like this. Slavery really did a number on some of you. I wonder if there is a “Caucasian” site similar to Fashion bomb, where the post commentary is about SHIT that happen 400-700 years ago. LET IT GO!!!

  29. I LOL’ed at the comments. Team TOO MUCH. Some cute pieces. She dresses her shape well. Stick to the fashion, it’s a fashion site. Kudos to all futhering their education (including me), but I come here for mindless perusal of fashion LOL.
