Hey Guys!
Today we have our second Bomber and Bombshell friend combi : Alex and V from D.C.:

Valita (or V for short) said, “Our approach to style is fun and experimental, we both have distinct styles, however we aren’t afraid to experiment.”

“… We are known for our style as we are both fearless with clothes, hairstyles etc. Alex or the Niece ( my pet name for him ) has done everything from skater style to preppy and dapper to channeling Grace Jones.”

“… Although I love a tutu and enjoy a mini I like to think of my style as Bohemian Luxe with a hood twist and by hood I mean around the way. People know Alex for being ever changing.”

“…I dare to try what people say I shouldn’t especially being plus sized. I would say the Niece and I are style chamelions, but we never really blend in so I guess you could say we are ecclectic. Alex is an aspiring motivational speaker and I am a student and blogger.

  1. That mint green bauble? Gorg! I also appreciate the tutu over stripes: <3.

    Okay, I like it!

His pose in the last frame? "Lean wit it! Rock wit it!!" LOL!

  2. now this is STYLE. love, love, love it! HU stand up! (be careful, my jr. year someone broke into my room @ the towers and stole every single item they wanted out of my closet)

  3. I love these 2!!! V I appeciate your style. You are not only speaking fashion but also solidifying style has no boundries and size doesn’t prevent you from expressing yourself through chlothes.
Alex aka Neice i adore u. Truly a chamelion. I luv your versatility!!

  4. Any leads on where I can find a turban similar to the one V is wearing?

    I love V’s style!

(I like it better with one bomber/bombshell…)

  5. i like his style and not hers….:/ he looks more fearless and put together while she looks a bit messy, and no, i’m not trying to be mean, just some constructive critcism

  6. LOVE this duo! I like that you two arent matchy but still blend well together. I have to say that I’m digging her style the most because as a plus sized woman its hard to have ppl telling what you should and should not wear so pushing the envelope automatically puts her at the top of my list. I also love her make up! Its fresh & fun in every pic.

  7. YESSSSSSS! I have to give props when I see a fellow plus-sized fashionista and V, you better werk!

That first shot of Alex with the turban and the lip color? Tooooo fab!

  8. Interesting. There were some hits here like his cream suit with the plaid shirt and her use of accessories and bold details. They have style, but some of the outfits were a lil “off.”

  9. You would be shokced ow cuting back your carb in take and talking a 1 hr walk at least 4 days a week would make a big difference. Right now at your weight clothing looks messy on you. Weight watchers has a great program that can help you drop the weight slowly. If your this size now, imagine what size you’ll be at 30!Just real talk. He looks more put together.

  10. @ Hey There
That was so rude and unecessary. Her style is what you should be commenting on. Not everyone is meant to be thin or have the same body type. And how do you know she doesn’t exercise? Im so tired of people thinking they have the right to tell people how to live or assume they know things about people. As long as she is healthy then that is all that should matter.
    @ V. WOOORRRKKK it Diva!

  11. Again, the black community supporting fatness.. I told her the truth, and her style is wack because her size causes her cloting to fit her not so great. Yes, being too big will kill you. If she’s this big now, imagine what she will be 20 years from now. you know it’s unhealthy, but you’re just trying to be nice. All nice is going to get her is an early death! It doesn’t take much to drop weight, just say no to bad carbs, excercise, and stop eating everything in sight. Yes, the clothing does not look good on her,she looks sloppy! and that’s the truth. Don’t care for her to be a size 6, but try at least to get down to decent size plus size. I would never leave my house if I was that big.

  12. How do I know she doesn’t excercise!(Classic question) if she is, it’s sure not hard enough.

  13. @hey there

I think the young lady knows that she is heavy and I think it’s cruel that you are trying to throw it in her face. She pulls off her style well, it just needs to be polished up. I wonder how you look like?

  14. @ hey there

I too support health and fitness and share in your distaste for the black community glamorizing being unfit. However, this is to judge the person’s fashion sense. IMO V has a beautiful shape. She doesn’t look sloppy, its part of the ‘homeless chic/ Louis bag lady’ vibe. I get it. Look at her in that creme striped top, her mid section looks flat.

If she were posted on ratemyshape.com or something that would be different.Sometimes I that ppl on this site are a bit too nice and too easily give the thumbs up. Honey, that was just plain old mean.

  15. @ 6 inch heels: You always have something negative to say except when it comes to defending a fat girl…just sayin

@ hey there – a little harsh (assuming the girl doesn’t work out), but I get what you’re saying.

Honestly, it’s hard for me to look at big girls (a really big girl) and think she’s stylish. Not saying everyone needs to be a size 6. There’s a range from about size 4 – 14 where a woman can be incredibly sexy, but, in my opinion, once you fall outside of that range, your body is more distracting than the clothes you cover it with.

V, you are working it. Seriously. You’ve got some serious assets to contend with and you do a great job. You also have gorgeous skin, cute dimples, and an adorable smile. If all we’re rating here is your style, I totally approve. Side note. You could, and probably should, lose some weight. It would be a shame if people got so fixated on your size that they never noticed the beautiful smile you have up top.

  16. @Hey There
How the hell do you know that she isn’t perfectly healthy. Clearly you failed health or you would know that skinny doesn’t equal healthy.

  17. Ok lets just all agree that Hey There is fat with absolutely NO STYLE..pure hate..so she or HE is mad lmao..or Hey There is thin and not too attractive…so my suggestion is HEY THERE nominate him or herself to be the next Fashion Bomb since you are clearly stylish and thin…GOD BLESS….xoxoxoxoxoxoxo : )

  18. Bomber/Bomb duos 2!

V: I’m not crazy about the 80s pantsuit style – but you worked it! The bright pink, the cinch waist and capri leg, and those FAB peep-toe- shoes sold the look. I can’t love the Phyllis Hymen headdress though, Lol! The bauble necklace is a gorge accessory. The flower print shirt and short, short skirt(?) were a great idea. I liked the concept of the over-the-knee boots but the leather clashed with the other textures IMO. I have those same hot pink sandals from Paris, and the nautical theme w/the shades and oversized necklace make for a great silhouette. I think the earrings went over but w/the short cut they’re attractive. The tulle skirt and the horizontal red strips are a hit even with that damn furry cap. I like the blue color infusion but not the style of the jacket.

HATED the boxy purple blazer – aged you tremendously, hated everything, the scarf, the tights, those peep-toe boots. And not one look w/o peep-toes?! Your face and skin in the close up is gorge, liked the jewelery a lot and preferred the blonde updo the most.

Alex: The leopard/camo combo – brilliant print pairing! The white ensemble is styled so well and the fit is great. Love the color/style of the blue sneaks and boots. HATE the multi-colored sweater – the colors wash you out and the pattern *sigh*. Lovely trench and paired w/the dark blue pant and light blue shirt is super chic. Your shoe game was GREAT and liked the bag.

    Thanks bomber/bomb!

P.S. If shape is up for debate as well as style, why not include skin tone? height? butt and breast size? Maybe you can start counseling FBs on reconstructive surgery options…

  19. I’m not big if that’s what you’re asking me. I just find it bold that a big girl is willing to do her own thing. I bump into big girls that have little to no self esteem and dress like ghetto grandmothers. It’s nice to see a full figured girl do her thing and take a few risk.

  20. @ 6 inch heels @annie l @Baise @ahem @Elle Willis Her shape looks great because she probably had on a body magic like so many big girls. She is obese, and last time I checked the clothing must also fit your body well. FAT is not healthy, get that out of your minds black people. We all know a big girl that can dance all night and jog, but that is just a few. You enable her to stay fat! and when she’s at Walmart pushing an electronic cart with her gut hanging out you will be laughing at her. She will have health issues by the time she is 35, and she may not even live to see 50. her love life probably sucks because she’s too big. We all know big girls end up the late night booty calls. Would it kill her or even some of you fashion bombers to workout a few times a week and eat 70% healthy. My GOD! jenny Craig, weight watchers, and numerous other things she can do to slim down, but she stills stays unhealthy, therefore her style will remain limited and never thrive. AGAIN, I didn;t say she had to be skiiny, clearly fat doesn’t equal healthy, you must have failed health class. At least try to get down to a size 12. You’ll even have a boyfriend and better options with clothing.

  21. Can we get back to the task at hand? Making FBs feel horrible for fashion choices, Lol! BTW, trollism not appreciated. Please stay OT.

  22. NOT A TROLL! just tired of fatness being worshiped within the black community. Cute girl, ugly fat.

  23. I love this pair!! And their turbans :) Two thumbs up to each of them

    @Hey There
I’m personally not black, or from America (I come to this site because I think it’s one of the best fashion blogs I’ve ever seen, props to Claire) and i just want to say, I disagree that V looks messy, I think she looks well put together and stylish irrespective of her clothing size. No, I don’t ‘worship fat’ and I am not a large person myself, but my sister is and has been since childhood despite eating healthily and exercising. She’s very healthy in spite of this, and as far as lovelife goes, has a steady boyfriend that she’s been with for 2 years after splitting up with her previous steady boyfriend that she met overseas and who moved here for her. Why am I saying all this? Simply pointing out that your comments generalise the lifestyles of larger women far too much.

  24. @ Hey There
I dont think anyone is trying “worship fatness” I just think that its not your place to look at what 5-6 pictures of this young woman and decide you know everything about her life and make judgments about her. This is about her style and you made your point already.
And like I said as long as she is happy and healthy that should be all that matters. Its about health not what size she is.

  25. I think V looks great…@ Hey There you can be heavier than what ppl call average and be healthy,u can exercise and eat right n still be plus size, not all ppl who are a size 5/6 are healthy or doin natural or healthy things to maintain a “smaller frame”. fashion is about being creative & fun,you hve to look good in what you wear n V looks good…from one “fat girl” to another. Stop referring race to weight, they have nothing to do with one another, you sound ignorant!

  26. Ok! So Danielle pointed out to me that 6 inch heels and Hey There are the same person. After clicking on this person’s IP address, we discovered this individual also has left several disparaging comments about several bombshells over several months, not just these two. She/he has also gone by the name ‘It_girl’ “Hampton University’ etc. For the sake of peace in the community, I’ve blacklisted 6 inch heels and Hey There. Commenters like these are what made this feature so negative, and I won’t stand for it.
Be blessed. And V and Alex..werq it!

  27. Wow!! FB is lik a soap opera!!! SMDH

I think V is cute n her style is different. I love the army look. Hard meets fem. I love it!!

On ol dude i like the beanie pic:)

  28. I love this site, and particularity this feature. But can we not do these duo’s or at least have a separate poll for each. It’s kind of hard to rate two people’s style as a collective if you like one but dislike the other.

They both look good, just not my kind of style.

  29. Wow. This was def eye opening I def didn’t expect this amount or kind of feedback on our feature but I won’t really respond on here cause I don’t like to be Too Messy but I have posted my thoughts on my blog and I might respond on my Youtube aswell @youtube.com/user/VBlase …Anyway thank you guys for the feedback whatever your opinion and thanks Claire for featuring us…we def got LIFE as the Niece would say off this one and yeah my Fave comment had to be the Phyllis Hyman one lol I adore her if only I could give a fraction of what she gave I would be completely OVAH…Good Day

  30. LOL! Put ’em on blast Claire!! Sooo “six inch heels” was talking to herself when she addressed “hey there”?!? Seems a little Schitzo. Now we can proceed with the fashion….

  31. I think everyone regardless as to how negative some people feel the comments might be have a right to express their opinions. In life negative comments are just part of what comes along with the territory especially when you put yourself in a public forum to be judged by your style( clothes, hair, makeup, accessories etc) all are components that come together to create someones style. We live in a society were you say one negative thing or something someone doesn’t agree with and people try to black list you.

  32. Fat and Skinny sleeping in a tree. They woke up the scene and made it Cunty. #TheEnd

  33. nope, sorry, not feeling their style but that V is one pretty girl. her skin and makeup look FAB in these pics!

  34. I like V even more after reading her blog post about this experience! You’re confidence is so inspiring! :D

  35. Lord have mercy. that poor deranged girl is having arguments with herself. Glad you got rid of that negative energy. I like these two. they are workin it!

  36. aww you guys are fabulous and cute ! I love that you guys experiment with different styles and trend you guys are hot.Ignore the negative comments and continue to Work it ! Love yah !

  37. wow, making up several different names and having arguements with yourself? that’s psychotic.

anyway, i can’t say i’m a huge fan of either of their styles. i do think v has great makeup though.

  38. Thank you, Claire for getting six inch bias, unrealistic, inconsiderate tail off the site. I found this site looking for a good fashion blog and was disgusted by someone of the comments I read. What one may find as an imperfection another may consider a unique quality. There nothing wrong with critiquing but there a line in between corrective critisim and plan out mean. I recently lost over 60 pounds and not by choice so that alone took a toll on my self esteem because everyone around asked questions I went from an 8-9 to a size 3. Be careful what you say to other because we all have feeling. Grow up people be an adult and give up the bulling it’s so childish. I’m just saying. Keep ya head up V I dig your confidence and swagger.

  39. DO your thing but this look is not my cup of tea. I think it could be presented a little more clean. it looks wore out, dingy, out dated and tacky.. The mens wear looks some what decent but the ladies wear shown is horrible…
