  1. Love the creativity! While it’s not my style per se, I definitely appreciate the ecclectic look here, there is some inspiration for me. Those pink and gold shoes are HOTT!

  2. I agree, I definitely got a June vibe from her. I guess the turbans are responsible for that. I love her though! She’s got a funky yet fashionable style. She looks fun! Love!

  3. Im really diggin’ her style, I am getting a June vibe from her for sure but I still like it.

  4. She does funky and unique the right way. All of her sunglasses are to die for! I love it!

  5. I need that beige shirt that she is wearing with thw denim jacket. I really like her style.

  6. OOOOK THANK YOU CLAIRE. now this bitch is a bombshell. and i support that by saying i dont even like half of what shes wearing but she is WEARING it. this is what fashion is about i’ll be on her blog to see what she got going on over there. i kinda love her monkey glasses, although i myself wouldnt wear them YAAAS!

  7. I love that she’s fearless and takes style risks. She seems like she wears her ensembles with confidence. Not my style but she’s a bombshell nonetheless!

  8. amazing style!!!!! and I’m sorry but her body type in the first photo reminds me of miss jay of ANTM

  9. Gorgeous! While not my style, I am loving this. Her creativity and versatility shines through; she definitely has a voice and a point of view when it comes to fashion. Girl, you’ve got it going on! Certified Bombshell

  10. I luv that you can tell she loves fashion and fearless with out being foolish…she owns every bit of it…

  11. Can I say I LOVE the eyewear, the blue printed pants too! I am dying over it. I love her pieces – she has a great eye for beautiful unique pieces.

Not my style, but I LOVE the self expression. I love her confidence. I love her complexion and the way the color bounces off of her. Beautiful smile, beautiful poses, amazing photography and just an all-around GREAT Bombshell…

My one critique. Her hair. The length works on her, but I would love to see her in a more natural softer look. (sorry I’m a self-proclaimed-hair-guru).

  12. omg Joy, your looks just scream fun and well thought out at the same time

    well done.

  13. the pink sunglasses and green scarf are making my little AKA heart beat fast…

  14. This works 4 her, not my taste I feel less is more … My only issue is that its not wearable ,june ambrose is fab and her style is more real ,joys style is great if you r going 2 a fashion show

  15. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO… Joy and you guys are REACHINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG comparing her to June Ambrose. Because that is what she is trying to give and she is NOT SERVING for the fashion Gods. First of all, you cannot mix 5 different PATTERNS & TEXTURES. The difference between STYLE and FASHION is QUALITY. Maybe she’s a “FASHIONISTA” but clearly she lacks true style. Throwing on endless pieces you picked up at the Thrift Sto’ don’t make you a stylist. I’m not saying she can’t dress… but ya’ll are reaching. Don’t compare her to June just because she brown skin and wears turbans. I’m done with ya’ll for the week LMAOOOO

  16. Pow! Just gave me everything with those frames.

The one thing I will say is being in this industry you hear about the folk at fashion week that pile and pile and pile stuff on to get photographed…Some of her looks scream “Take my picture, I have on everything and the kitchen sink” but I can see past the layers and she seems to have great personal style. We all can be reminded of Gabrielle’s rule to always take off one accessory before leaving the house (some of us can stand a take off a few).

Overall I really dig this bombshell, and would like to see more chica’s with true personal style featured.

  17. Really love that denim jacket and peplum skirt look! The rest is a bit much going on, but at least she looks like she’s having fun!

  18. I’ve seen this young lady in person twice, and it’s a big miss or hit for her. Sometimes she walks out the house looking like a crazy bag lady or she’ll rock some pretty interesting pieces. I’M SORRY, SHE’S TOO ALL OVER THE PLACE AT TIMES TO BE A FASHION BOMB. Sometimes she just looks messy.

  19. I like her style. It isn’t my style, but she has great individual pieces that I could see myself in. Although she could have better hair, she is working it otherwise.

  20. and please take off those turbins. They don’t look good on Ms. Ambrose, so imagine how they make you look.

  21. Love the creativity and colors but I do believe that less is more and shenis giving me accessory overload especially in thenlast pic.

  22. she’s fly. that denim jacket/tutu, j’adore! also a sucker for the polka dot pants. but how is it that so many women are professional style bloggers? she seems legit i guess & i know claire & them are doing it big but is it really a profession for so many? i realize its more likely to come across pro fash stylist/bloggers on a fashion blog lol but still…am i trippin? i don’t think i actually know anyone who does it full-time

  23. I felt most of her looks, a few didn’t work but overall Bombshell. She made me smile in her retro looks & for that I *heart* her.

  24. Oh love the turban. People are just mad that they can’t rock a turban and look good. Damn haters.

  25. Girl Junky….like really?!! Some looks are great, like the denim shirt and peplum skirt and some are bag lady crazy like turban, hat, sunglasses, kitchen sink, everything..lol just lose one thing, editing can be your friend…but what do i kno…:/ lol

  26. I’m with Breezy…I am starting to think the people that vote and comment on the Fashion Bombshells of the day…just like weird out the box looks….not saying she does not have style, but it is waaay to much…looks like she ran thru her closet and and walked out with whatever caught on to her body. To me there should maybe be two different types of Fashion Bombshell of the day, one for contemporary and one for alternative. Because it seems like everyone just likes to see who can wear the craziest outfit and call them a fashion bomb. I don’t get it, really I don’t….smh. To me there is a thin line between fashion and border line costume or a young child playing dress up in every item in Mommy’s closet.

  27. Some hits, and a lot of misses! Looks like fashion just vomited all over her!! Way too much, my eyes hurt! She reminds me of Miss J from American’s next top Model.

  28. Weeerk it girl! Not my personal style, but she owns it and doesn’t take fashion too seriously. If she wants to look like a bag lady then so be it..she will be the fly-est bag lady on the bloc!

  29. My fellow Naija sister (and 2 snaps for being nigerian-american like myself) she is very pretty but I wouldn’t know with the custom-like clothing covering her up. I felt like she channeled (and looked like) June Ambrose in some pictures but overall I felt like she was constantly on a stage. If that’s the case, then she nvm my thoughts, but its not, at least for me, practical for day to day.

  30. Also, might want to give the turbans a rest, because they have you looking either like June Ambrose or Miss Jay :(

  31. What What….This is FASHION!!! and second that to my fellow African sis!! you look BEAUTIFUL I love her style…Balance of color, silhouette and Chic!!! great pieces put well together.

  32. The outfit with the polka dot pants is definitely my favorite!!!!! Shes amazing!

  33. She swagger jacked the heck out of June. Nice peices, but if you’ve seen it all on someone before, is it really personal style? #shrug

  34. I like some of her looks but many were a bit much for my tastes.

I’m sure she stands out, even in New York!

  35. I will call this entry “interesting”. I don’t know if I like it or not. Im not sure it is feasible to dress like this everyday. The great thing though, is that she wears them with confidence. I appreciate that. And yea..those turbans..lay off them boo. Some of you take note: it’s spelled “turban” Muahahahaha!

  36. EW… if this is stylish I would rather live on Mars. She looks a confused mess. Those turbans are a nightmare! From what I’m seeing she called out her entire crew to post on here, because I didn’t know a clown could be fashion bomb. why do many African women wear bad weaves. They can never get their hair right.

  37. I always do my best to keep it cute BUT……..this is a MESS I’m so sorry. I am going to need her to take off at least 5 items in each of these pics their is just entirely too much going on. I dont even want to scroll back up and examine the evidence again, im nervous!

  38. @Brandon you took the words right out of my mouth. These looks are plain messy. I get personal style and being creative- I went through the mix and match phase myself but with everything the way in which you executed a look is important.

She looks like she’s constantly in costume. That’s not fashion. And that is the difference between her and June. June has style and completed, edited looks that work in the real world. I think people recognize her from Essence.com and are jumping on a bandwagon. I never really felt her looks on that site either. I didn’t mean to come off as negative, just wanted to tell my truth on the subject. Dully noted though: Lady has confidence for days.

  39. too much, i feel like if she wasnt trying so hard, her looks woudnt be so bad. This screams i am an attention whore look at me and not in a good way. Honey dont try too hard just be you. For someone who works for a fashio magazine, this is a mess, big mess.

  40. whats up with those turbans , their are so last year and people who wear them look stupid. Hate the sun glasses. She has some cute pieces but the way their put together. horrible. Save these costumes for the stage , this is not real dressing. hate it. The only pic that i like the peplin skirt and denim combo now thats fashion. This is definately Ghetto chic.

  41. Lmbo..she looks like Ms. Jay from ANTM is some of the pics. Im not feeling any of the looks (like individual pieces),clearly she only dresses for attention. The turban has got to go though. lol.

  42. First REAL bombshell I’ve seen on here in months. To all of you country-ass half naked ass chicks who submit you photos over and over; please take note. This is a great example of urban(NYC)style. Now can a brother get his fortune read with that big ass Miss Cleo headpiece? 3.99 a minute.. Yuh Mon…

  43. Not my personal style…. but, she is working the hell outta her outfits!!!! I feel confidence is the biggest asset to your overall “fashion look….. just my opinion……

  44. Not for everybody. But BABY-it is for her. She is working it left and right. Confidence is everything. I think she’s gorgeous and original. BOMBSHELL.

  45. Joy adaeze is the truth. Swag on100. Nigerians can dress their behinds off. Love it!

  46. yall have got to be kidding me. I’m still confused at why Essence features her. Her looks are messy and aren’t cohesive…cute pieces but she truly does lack STYLE…

  47. She can do no wrong here she is awesome she is like a june ambrose in the makening beautiful skin and I luv her blog go girl!!!!!

  48. I have seen certain women pull these looks off, but they are way more neat compared to her looks. I like the polka dot outfit and denim jacket with the pink skirt. Everyting else is like different colors of paint on the walll, too confusing.

  49. Miss jay called and he needs his thrift clothes back. I woudnt call this fashion , this is a cry of attention. i know in the fashion industry its hard to stand out but this is a mess. She looks like she is a sweet person who is trying so hard to fit in with the hip crowd, so i sense some insecurities i there. She is trying to be june with those awfyl turbans, i see some solange in the glasses and some Marian kihogo in her use of colours. So girl where is you , i this fashion equation.

  50. If i am going to a ghetto party , i would probably dress like this. i am sorry ,this is a no , no. some people suggested she takes of five things off. i suggest she takes off everything and go back to the drawing board. The reason why she is featured on essence is because she is the Fashion editors assistant, its definately not for her fashion sense , for we know their are damn better black bloggers out there with real fashion sense.

  51. Thank goodness finally a real bombshell! She wear those clothes right and you can tell she is not TRYING HARD because its effortless!

    I can dig it!

Keep the REAL bombs coming please because the last few have been a phony mess! LOL

  52. What is the pink lipstick in the “betsy johnson” pic with the green turban and cat eye shades? Please

  53. I really can’t believe people follow her blog and believe that she is the ish in fashion. She looks a mess. God bless her little heart.

  54. *pauses* Ok, I like the polka dot trousers, white men’s shirt with pocket, denim jacket, and cat eye sunglasses. However, I would not look to her for advice. Her ensembles are all over the place. Especially the one where’s pictured at some expo.

  55. I love these looks, funky , sassy, classy and on the edge. she definitely has her own style and I like it!!!

  56. Fab legs! Could take off a few items in some of the shots but this is an example of how to look good. Love the print pants

  57. I like the floral pants and the polka dot pants..the bangs hairdo compliments her pretty face and pretty smile.

  58. ummm I LIKE her!!! i know in some of her pics she has a lot going on but it works for her.

  59. June didn’t CREATE the turban! Turbans have been around since the Gods! She made them popular for fashion beginners. That’s it!

Joy is giving you FASHION. Fashion is about expression and she is CLEARLY expressing her personality through her pieces. Looking like a walking J Crew ad doesn’t make you “stylish.” It makes you look like you lack style and need to turn to celebs and JUNE for tips.

I admire Joy and this is def bombshell material because she is being herself without being a LABEL WHORE! Her look works for her. I like!

    GO JOY!!!

  60. Y’all. Are some super haters!thanx June did not invent turbans Coney chicks!Ms thing is dope and very pretty!the Ms Jay. Comments need to have a seat on a sectional! I actually love that common folks and wannabe fashionistas are coming for her!y’all couldn’t get the picture if y’all shot it!mama ur swag is all the way turned up!get ya life!

  61. June is this you? J/k … This girl is doing way too much with her looks for me!!!!!!

  62. Horrible, and all the sunglasses were cute but why was she wearing them in almost every photo? She looks clownish.

  63. Too many turbans Ill be glad when that fade dies. Not my style but she looks like a model of sorts in her pics. Do you girl.

  64. she’s channeling june ambrose and i don’t even like june’s style, so i’m not really feeling this. she needs to stop overaccesorizing.
