We’re ending this week with Nere from Hyattsville, Maryland:
Nere from Maryland
She writes, “As a doctoral student in developmental psychology, I have been able to engage in a lot of introspection, including the progression of my style.”

“… Needless to say, my style progression has evolved to a style uniquely my own that I like to call “City Love”. City Love is full of classic chic silhouettes and beautiful sequined materials that you would find while out on the town.”

” I like bodycon dresses, but a classic sheath dress never loses its integrity nor does a modern or vintage sequin outfit.”

” City Love also incorporates the culture of a city, including its diversity and the connection one feels with those around them in the city, through the intricate details and patterns that you will find in many of my beaded statement necklaces, from South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria.”

” City Love also has elements of romance, which we all know can be up and down while in the city, so how having thick skin becomes necessary. Hence why I enjoy mixing hers and his pieces. I truly have the most fun with clothes/accessories that have a masculine feel to them. Unfortunately, for my boyfriend, he had to get used to the idea of sharing his stuff with me.”

” Finally, City Love is always searching and yearning for a time when things were simple. Kind of like that home sick girl trying to find her way in a big city.”

“… For me when I feel like going to back to the basic, I turn to my favorite vintage jean jacket, denim shirts, or a pair of sweats. My City Love style is not perfect or always beautifully put together. I often forget to put on earrings, completely accessorize my outfit, or coordinate the best prints, but I have learned those are my imperfections fit perfectly into City Love.”

” Overall, I believe we are able to express our authenticity through our style, which is unique and individually tailored to who are on the inside. From a psychological aspect, when your inside matches your outside, in other words if you have a rocker/edgy personality and you have that expressed in your clothing you are expressing a sort of harmonious relationship with you and what the outside world sees when you first present yourself. I am a mix of beautiful, rustic, shiny, colorful entities that you will find in a city.”

Well, that was undoubtedly the most loquacious and eloquent style description we’ve ever received! You have a ton of classic combinations with quirky twists, which is admirable. My favorite look would have to be your yellow cape dress. Chic!

  1. I love EVERYTHING about her style. She is confident, which is her greatest accessory! #Bombshell

  2. My favorite bombshell to this date. She seems totally authentic and naturally stylish. All of her looks seem like an extention of who she truly is. Love her!

  3. I like the variety of style she has. Definitely different. I give it a Bombshell. ;)

  4. You truly get a sense of her personality through her clothes, style, and her writing. I love it, and I’m sure your man doesn’t mind you stealing his stuff…lol
    Blessings

  5. Lol @sun.kissed of 8ty4 Vintage , yes Essay aside, I really like her and her style, you really get a sense of who she is through her style choices.

  6. A whole treatise! :lolz: Not my style but I really am 100% into the fact that she’s thoroughly analyzed WHY she dresses a certain way. This whole City Love theme also gives her room to evolve her style along the way.

Fav Fit: Stripes and slacks. Extra points for making sequins part of her wardrobe staples.

  7. Repn Maryland quite well I might add! Bombshell only 2 outfits that were not to my liking and she def knows how to make an outfit interesting to look at.

  8. she had me at “As a doctoral student in developmental psychology”

She expressed her style without sounding cocky or full of herself and the evidence coincided with her description. BRAVO!

  9. I hated everything, except the yellow sheath dress, but not with those shoes. I wouldn’t call it Fashion Bombshell, but it’s not horrid either. As long as you like it, I guess that’s what counts.

  10. She has cute peices. I would just pair some things differently. Nice submission.

  11. I love her looks! I went to high school with Nere and its awesome to see her shine! WELL DONE!

  12. Does any one know where i can find a white cape like the yellow one she has?

  13. gorg facial features.

incredible use of mixed prints, textures & color. also, wonderful variety hair styling.

along with the doctorate, she definitely has a backup career as a stylist.

    trés chic & inspiring! ;-)

  14. NERE!!! omg, so good to see you, boo! trust me, her style is the truth! and her spirit is just as beautiful!

  15. Bombshell!!! I love almost all of the looks!. Great use of color and texture. I love the fact that she’s getting her PhD. Go girl! I got mine too. :-)

Nice break from all the random copycats, ratchet weave, 2008 bodycon dresses, $9.99 platforms, and unimaginative Rihanna mimicry

  16. Wow, first I have to let out a huge chuckle for NYC Chick’s comment above my comment. Damn Claire, thought I was the fashion critique. I enjoyed her look but next time girl give us some personality with your cute styling.

  17. I love everything from the looks, the locs, and even that Miles Davis art work. A lot of academic types aren’t fashionable, so I love that about her too. Definite bombshell, even BS of the year.

  18. love her style reminds me of considermelovely style :) very unique and wearable great bombshell

  19. Chic and colorful but still unique and her. I like it. The last outfit was my favorite, with the camel coat and mix of prints :)

  20. I love her and her essay. It was refreshing and intelligent. Her style is fun yet mature. I really enjoyed this submission.

  21. It’s all too harsh… buh maybe I just prefer simple classy. So you do your thang!

  22. i like her style. i thought all her looks were cute minus the pink pleated dress with cheap looking belt

  23. cute outfits but I feel she is lacking sex appeal. She needs to tun up her look with some sexier clothes and makeup. Take off the specs or get a different frame that doesn’t hide her orbital cavity. She has nice lips and a pretty smile, btw!!
