Today’s Fashion Bombshell is Sonya Bee from Mississippi:

The owner of Sonya Bee’s boutique screams, “I LOVE FASHION AND I NEVER TRY TOO HARD WHEN IT COMES TO AN OUTFIT…”

“…I’M LIKE A MODERN DAY HIPPIE WITH A SPLASH OF HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR..”

“…I’M IN LOVE WITH BODYCON DRESSES AT THE MOMENT..I NEVER MATCH AND I WOULD DOUBLE KISS THE PERSON WHO INVENTED LEGGINGS LOL..”

“I really don’t care about the price of labels because looking good means you feel good whether it’s in a blazer that you got from a thrift store for $3 or a pair of $1200 Alexander McQueen heels.”

” I would say that my style is sexy yet very classy, evolving, unpredictable and constantly changing because of my love of experimenting and trying new ideas.”

“I ALSO LOVE TRIBAL PRINT AND ANYTHING SPARKLY.”

“I WOULD BE HONORED TO BECOME A CERTIFIED FASHION BOMBSHELL =)”

Ok! You’re a gorgeous young lady. My only critique would be to try not to lean too hard on tight garments. Of course the pieces you chose look great, but you could vary it up with maxi skirts or even an A-line dress and still look bomb!
What do you ladies think?

  1. Ehh! She has on basic party girl clothes. Pretty girl nontheless. Just needs more ‘looks’.

  2. I really would have liked to her see everyday wardrobe, this is just club wear. That red dress is FAB though.

  3. Beautiful girl, but those outfits are not the move! Seriously, that pink dress looks like coogi *gags*. Hair looks nice too…
    Beauty bombshell—>YES
    Fashion bombshell–>NOOO

  4. I am in love with that red dress. I like that she plays with brights but still she is stuck in party mode. Can we see what you wear to work, school, shopping.,etc, etc…. Pretty girl though and that pink lipstick looks great on u

  5. Very video vixen but hey if it works for you my dear carry on. I see where she’s going with it though…..

  6. She’s gorgeous, and I like her use of color. Not a fan of all her looks but love the yellow dress.

    Also, her body is siiiiiiick!

  7. This isn’t fashion. Everything she has on came from your biggest advertiser CLUBBOUTIQUE.COM

  8. Pretty girl… and I have to agree with *Marsha D* its video vixon for sure. There was nothing unique about it. I’m from Detroit and her looks are a typical friday night club gear.

  9. The red dress (although we could not see a full shot of it) look great! Everything else sorry looks typical and does not look like there is that much though into it. I agree with Claire try switching it up a little we all like to show off a great figure but add some variety to your look. bodycon dresses are not the only dresses to flatter ones curves. Who knows maybe she sent in more pictures and these were the ones that were choosen. Overall she is cute but not so much creative even when going out for a night on the town.

  10. Pretty does not equal fashion! Anyone can be pretty, but it takes style and edge to create unique fashion! Like they said, very video viven-ish.

  11. Very pretty, very nice shape- but overall, it’s not my taste so I can’t really judge. So I didn’t vote on this one. I actually really like the pink outfit but the yellow and white dresses in particular are just way too tight. Also, I would have liked to see her in some of the “tribal” prints that she says she likes.

  12. I would of love to see versatility with her. Such a beautiful face with much more to offer in style such as elegance and classic piece. I think if she inspired to wear body con dress, i think there are so many different ways to style these pieces.

  13. Pretty but not bombshell worthy.

@Claire. How do you chose the bombshell of the day? Do you feature everyone that submits or do you randomly pick from all the submissions on a daily basis?

This is a serious question with no shade toward today’s beauiful bombshell. xoxo

  14. She is cute. But their is a difference between fashion and style. And it’s okay because she’s from Mississippi so you can’t expect much…

  15. While it’s not my taste..I have to say that she has a great attitude. Too many people get so defensive upon the slightest hint of criticism (constructive, of course). I would say Sonya to add more jeans/pants, blazers and nice tops to your wardrobe. We know you can wear the hell out of a dress…but layering pieces can be just as glamorous.

  16. As she displays, short and tight isn’t always right. I blame Love & Hip Hop and Basketball Wives. People look to glorified whores, ex strippers, and high class prostitutes for style cues.

  17. I first want to say that this girl is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!!

And if this were for a beauty bombshell (as someone earlier stated) or a party look bombshell, she would get tens across the board.

But as far as a fashion bombshell, I would have like to see some more looks. I bet that she would still look gorgeous in a tailored suit, or some cute slacks and button down top. Just wish we could have seen that.

  18. Pretty girl. I like the red Jessica Rabbit-esque dress and I like that she’s a thick girl who enjoys her shape (which is nice, btw) but I would have liked to have seen more variety in her wardrobe choices.

However, we all go through phases with our style and if she’s all about bodycon dresses at the moment then so be it.

  19. Yes @TT she does have a great attitude, she seems really pleasant. No need to discuss the outfits though.

  20. Really BRE BRE. Really laughing at the ignorance of your comment… Once again people are so quick to want to say crazy crap like what BRE said, but I’m sorry I’m glad every state have their own idenity… If we all followed fashion from LA, New York, Miami etc how does that show individuality and creativeness? I’m glad she has her own look, and many like it some hate it, however to point out you shouldn’t expect much because of where she’s from
Is really stupid… Its different to give constructive opinions but to be a hater
Is another!! Go Sonya, continue doing YOU! That’s what makes you special!

  21. My question is: Is you breathing right, fa real?! Coz lawwwd knows that body con is sucking up on your lungs!

No ma’m. This is not fashion, just basic club wear, nonetheless bomb body, pretty chick.

  22. “Is you breathing right, fa real”. WOW.

Are you using the the English language right?

Fashion/style is objective. To each their own.

  23. @brinks i was thinking the same thing expect i say blame the kardashians… but even they got over this look.lol… but she does look fabulous. very gorg girl!

  24. that orange yellow dress is wayyy to tight… bodycon crazy.. pretty girl like everyone says tho and hair is fab

  25. WHoAAA….. there are some hateful people out there. Fashion is each person’s individual expression of their personality, she is hot chick and she looks hot in her fashion! She’ll inspire someone else to just do them, just as GaGa, just as Madonna, just as Alexander McQueen did. Keep doing you girl, I LOVE IT!! And your body is killin em, whose your trainer??

  26. She looks Great && obviously takes constructive criticism well!! && if u got it FLAUNT IT BEW!!!

  27. WELL SHE IS DEF A FASHIONISTA, U GUYS ARE ONLY GETTING A GLIMPSE OF MAYBE JUST CLUB PICS. THE STATE SHE’S FROM IS OFFENSIVE, I LIVE IN MS AND HAVE LIVED IN OTHER STATES THAT AREN’T ON OUR LEVEL. SHE’S A REALLY SWEET GIRL THAT IS EXTREMELY DOWN TO EARTH. ALSO THE KNOCK OFF COMMENT YEA RIGHT, NOT EVEN! SHE A BOMBSHELL TO ME SORRY!

  28. nothing about her screams “modern day hippie” at all..basic club gear, none the less she’s gorgeous and her body is amazing…

  29. Pretty girl, looks are very typical and like everyone said “video vixen-ish”. None of her looks seem like they were thrifted like she claims. Seems like she found one website and stuck with it. That red dress is bomb though!

  30. Congrats SB! Ignorance is BLISS! The hometeam is proud in all of ur adventures.. Glad you keep your same attitude no matter what! Good things come to those that stay humble! :) great look you are truely a fashion bombshell and beauty bombshell of course! Make sure you guys check out SONYABEE.BIGCARTEL.COM!!!

  31. I didn’t know what to expect when I saw MS, NOT bc I think they lack style, but because I haven’t been exposed to style from that region. I think she looks very well put together, and like she says she loves her bodycon so I don’t knock her for that. Plus she pulls it off in a good way. She has the bod for it & nothing looks ill-fitting.

  32. I would love to see more variety…she has a beautiful shape…makeup is flawless…love the hair. We all go phases…right now, like she said, she’s in love with leggings and body con dresses. Perhaps, like many, her style will grow into other things.:)

  33. Very pretty, but not such a fan of the style. I love that she is not afraid of color, but it seems her style is, for the most part, tight & short. Some variety would be nice. Sexy doesn’t have to equal tight every time…there are other ways to look sexy & classy.

  34. Okay so I’m not a fan of the Bodycon dress (probably because I don’t look like Sonya B in one, lol..I have hips for days. But she is gorgeous and seems sweet. Sonja I say send in some more pics in your everyday ensembles and show us what you working with :)

  35. Well her online store has cute stuff, a bit pricey, but if i loved to club i would def wear that stuff! The Checkered Bodycon Dress she has on her site is too Die for! I don’t have the body for it though :-/

  36. To my fellow Mississippian you look nice, when i get my body right i’m going body con crazy lol!! Nice boutique but pricey, but I am interested in those tribal trousers!! Nice style, vary it and you will bring out the inner bomb thats coming out! #LOOOVEEE :))

  37. i will say where is the inner hippy? do you just like to smoke? lmao//j/k….but no really i don’t see it

  38. Love the Red Dress, the orange dress, & the tri-color skirt w/ fringe. Sonya can I buy these dresses from your website? Who is the designer?

  39. She looks incredibly cheap to me. I think it is the tight fitting clothes, super short hemlines and blond hair. She has a great figure and these clothes aren’t doing her justice at all.

  40. she’s a gorgeous girl, great shape as well. I hated the yellow dress because it looked way too tight and cheapened what could have been a really nice look. loved the coral dress, it’s very cute indeed and i love the shoe she paired it with. overall, these are prety club looks but club looks don’t really show a well-rounded look. i would have liked to see what she looked like on a regular day. tight everything does not a fashionista make. she’s a pretty girl nonetheless. great hair too.

  41. She is very very pretty but I’m with Claire all the way! Not every article of clothing one owns should be tight and short. A fashionista is diverse! I hope she keeps evolving and maturing and sends in photos. She could be a bombshell!

Please stay away from the blonde hair with that bubble gum lipstick too! Looks trashy NOT classy. Sigh

  42. First, everyone has their own individuality and style. However, for some of you to have your opinion that is fine, but to be disrespectful that is another thing. Mississippi has some beautiful women with bombshell style but are not given enough credit because of the states history. Sonya is a beautiful woman with versatility style and just because the pictures does not depict that does not meant it is not there.

  43. She looks great and can werk the heck out of a dress. I think if this was Kim K everyone would love every piece she has on. She has a curvy shape and isn’t afraid to show it. To each his own.

  44. Even though we only see clubwear, I LOVE what she wears! She can really pull it off and she IS BEAUTIFUL. I’m quite jealous of that gorgeous body/hair too… Not a fashion bombshell, but absolutely beautiful.

  45. Where the heck is the Hippie Part? She said she was a modern day hippie right??? I am starting to see there are many interpretations to a fashion bombshell.. Clearly.. I am not hating though because the same girl that is a HUGE Kim Kardashian fan would love this girls style and we all know the fellas prob do.

  46. I respect her attitude and her hair and makeup looks nice. However, stuffing one’s self into too tight club wear does not equal fashion or style…

  47. Where should I start.. Sonya Bee you are the Bomb!! You have the fashion and the looks to accomodate it!! Now, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and constructive criticism is always a proper etiquette to use when it’s just that.. CONSTRUCTIVE!!! Some of gave your opinion with class and respect, while others made a complete ASS of themselves.. BreBre!! BreBre how ignorant of you to say “she’s from MS so what do you expect”!!!! A Southern Bell with a taste of Sex Appeal and Beauty is what Sonya Bee’s fashion represents and who are you to say that’s not Fashion/Style?? And by the way, BreBre, the next time you try and BELITTLE someone about ANYTHING especially being from MISSISSIPPI, you may want to ask MISSISSIPPIANS for some help with your Grammer cause obviously WE are way more intelligent than you will EVER BE..BreBre says “But THEIR is a difference b/w fashion and style”.. YES THERE is a difference between THEIR and THERE and it’s called HOOK ON PHONICS!!.. PINEAPPLES!!!!.( Real Smart, Dumb Chic!!) .. Keep striving to the top Sonya Bee and never except anything beneath it!!!

  48. Since, I’ve seen your facebook page which includes many other looks I think you’re working it out. You can pull off several different looks. We all like to look different when going out: sexy, classy, or plain. It depends on you and your personality. I say keep up the good work more AA women need to start supporting each other and our businesses. It’s called hustle so keep doing you.

  49. Yayyy!! Congrats on becoming Fashion Bombshell of the Day! All of your looks are very pretty and OBVIOUSLY this is your style so accept the constructive criticism and continue to dress the way YOU want to dress. And let me just say (being from Mississippi) myself that there are ALOT of women here who have awesome style and could easily be fashion icons or whatever. So to Bre Bre you really could have kept your barbaric comment to yourself.

  50. Everything is TOO tight and TOO partyish to be fashionable. She looks cute if your whole life is going to the club. She’s very pretty nonetheless.

She is cute. But their is a difference between fashion and style. And it’s okay because she’s from Mississippi so you can’t expect much…”

I hardly ever comment on bombshell of the day but you tried it, dear. That’s an ignorant generalization on top of being condescending, also it’s insulting to Claire’s selection. I used to write for this site and am proudly from Mississippi. It’s not all overalls, bare feet and poverty.
Have a seat and while you’re in it educate yourself.
    :o)

  52. Ha! I’m with Ashley Samantha one of the many beautiful and fashion forward females from MS! Personally I think she is a lovely girl, she owns a very nice boutique and she is as sweet as pie not to mention very fashionable! *in my VERY southern dialect* Don’t sleep on us down here Bre!!!!

  53. Good gracious! @TMC if you’re trying to read somebody about their grammar please work on your own first! Now to the FASHION. Everything has been said good & bad. Too tight, too clubby, but beautiful girl with what seems like a great personality.

  54. @TMC…no disrespect, but how do you tell someone they need help with their “grammer” and spell grammar wrong?

  55. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I’m just thankful for the opportunity and for the increase in sales in just one day on my online boutique because of this post about me. I dress down just about everyday, I just didn’t have any everyday casual wear pics on hand. I would like to thank my fellow Mississippians for the continued support =) I am extremely proud to be a MISSISSIPPIAN

  56. IT”S CALLED A TYPO!!! There’s a difference between typing a word incorrectly and using a word grammatically incorrect!!!..NOW, BACK TO THE BASICS!! PINEAPPLES!!

  57. She is so beautiful, what gorgeous hair ! Love her attitude as well!
I would love to see more diversity. She is a hot mama but she would look so classy-sexy in a pair of lovely trousers etc…

Love all of her colour! Wish her all the best in her endeavors.

And I’ve got to chime in- it is ignorant to make overarching statements about X group of people. That is the same kind of crap these European magazines have been spouting about black women and fashion recently. Stay in school/go back to school and educate yourself.

  58. Im also from MS and I love ur blog and am very proud that u all chose one of our own for ur Fashion bombshell!!!! Just because we are at the bottom of the map doesn’t mean we don’t have women who aren’t fashion forward….

  59. @TMc….

It’s “accept” not “except”…. How’s that Hooked on Phonics working out for you?

  60. @TMc

Oh… and in your last post, it should’ve been “using a word grammatically incorrectly” vs. “using a word grammatically correct”. You should request a refund on your Hooked on Phonics book…

  61. Just skimming through some of the comments and wow the controversy!! Sheesh!! LOL Anyhoo, I like her looks…I love the bright, young, & vibrant feel of it all…you look great mamas :)

    Much Love,
    Tiff

  62. the girls are feisty in here today, enough with the english lessons today though.

i love sonya’s personality and attitude toward the comments/criticism.

i think she looked great in every picture and outfit. this is her style and what she’s into at the moment and fortunately she’s pulling it off well, nothing worse than someone being in a phase or stuck in a style but yet not executing it well. she executes the looks very well, so kudos to her.

i’d like to see a future post/update from her when she’s transitioned to a different style/phase because i’m sure she’d execute that just as well, too.

  63. Lol sonya, I am just laughing at your comment on the increase in sales at your boutique. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters!

  64. MISSISSIPPI stand up!!!!!!!!!! I have been all over this site and seen TERRIBLY dressed people from everywhere and non were as pretty as Sonya. Constructive criticism is great……….HATE is why black women can’t get ahead….crabs in a barrel…….

  65. She’s very pretty! Hair and makeup on point! She looks great, but like most people said, the first thing I noticed is the ‘celeb boutique dresses.’ She may sell the same things in her store, so she gets them at great prices. Either way she looks good, but could switch it up a bit!

  66. lmaoooo @ All the “TMC” corrections. you guys are hilarious

sonja too tight…. but I will not knock your hustle , you look great…hopefully you are a youngster. I just could not stand your club poses, booty shots and so forth. I was just ugh! OVERHER.com

p.s. brebree i understand your crude generalization. Her location caught me off guard too, but understand fashion is not relative to location. I have seen some NY Girls that have came out and needed to go home and start all over again. Same with LA.

  67. alot of people are complaining about her dresses being tight, but when you got that hourglass figure.you just want to show it off baby, plus that shape is just sexy on its own.if she was skinny as a twig,no one would be complaining about her clothes being tight.

  68. Why so negative, I think she looks gorgeous. She has style that fits her perfectly. Fashion can be extreme and also simplistic, polished and chic. But most important …timeless. We don’t want to look back and have the “what was I thinking face”….don’t follow trends, follow what you feel great in….Anywho, love her look and style. SN: I am an aspiring boutique owner myself…support fashion entrepreneur…..

  69. LOL at all the TMC corrections Pwhahahahaha this is why ppl need to stop talking trash over the internet.

  70. So I logged in for my daily dose of FB and I see non other than THE Sonya Bee….YaY! Sending well wishes from Dallas Tx xoxo

  71. the girl is pretty and has cool style…the key to great style is mixing and matching high and low ends to produce a conducive stylish look that reflects personal style. Mimic-ing what you see a celebrity wearing or looks from the runway does not inspire.

  72. Pretty girl, also love the red dress, fashion bombshell no, sexy club wear yes. Love it though, she is hot for sure.

  73. I love my sissy and will continue to support her no matter what:) #teamsonyabee

I am proud of you and just remember to keep God 1st and everything else will fall in place:)
    Keep up the good work!

  74. I must say that she look nice in all the outfits but she looks like a different person in each pic

  75. Pretty girl, but her clothes are uhhhh. They are standard off the rack club clothes at best. Nothing creative are inspiring. She needs to look at the people on peepwatcher or other streetstyle blogs from around the world. Those people know real fashion & creativity.

  76. Geesh people can be so malicious. I think that she has some cute club looks. I also agree that she should try not to lean so hard and I would have liked to see more of a mixture..adding in some everyday style. Nonetheless, pretty girl. Love the two toned hair.

  77. And I meant Nothing creative or inspiring. I don’t want the spelling bee queens after me…lol

  78. Pretty girl, but appears she more concerned with flaunting her body than displaying her personal style. Yes you have a great figure so it’s not important to highlight your figure. You should just wear pieces that look fabulous with a great element of style and silhouette. Honey I am sorry but this aint cute. It’s more hoochie than haute!

  79. You Go girl!! You are beautiful and your style looks great on you. Its so disturbing to see such cruel and harsh critiques smh.

  80. Love the looks, repping the south well :)
i’d like to see more variety tho, where are the daytime looks, casual or business…

  81. Not a fan of her style, I think the dress and shoes she has on is nice, but she didn’t really put anything together, but I see the top skirt and the orange dress that she has on is by designer EKINEYO, love her designs !

  82. Wishing you nothing but the best and much continued success….It’s so refreshing and inspiring to see young black women doing something positive! You are a beautiful person, inside and out! You even know how to look great, after negative feedback….your response shows you are respectful, professional, intelligent and have an open mind and the willingness to learn and grow from the input. …This is only the start of greater success and higher heights…..And for the negative opinions; ignorance speaks for itself!

  83. fashion???? uh nooo. body?? maybe. hair?? does wht you buy count nowadays? sure why not. well if thats how you look at it tell her to get her arms fixed too. pink dress: fat is bulging out of the back, skirt is giving her smash azz unless thats wht she has, white dress.. putting a day scarf over a club dress doesnt equal fashion, orange.. OMG first thought is just to awful to write, red dress.. is she really in a casino with that dress on? the last hint that tells me she has no fashion sense! “hollywood glamour”? the only place she’d fit in hollywood is in the groupies stand. fashion? abs no. good smile and good intentions.. yes? fashion involves more clothes and less of you.. the clothes arent supposed to wear you… you wear the clothes.. its not a battle whether you can smash into them. put more clothes on for fashion sake and for plain respect of yourself.

  84. Sonya I think that you are an extremely beautiful southern belle. I am from Missisippi as well and I am honored that one of our very own are feautured on this web site. I love your style and confidence and all the negative feedback should only be fuel to your fire! I know a few of your associates from my hometown and I’ve heard good things about your store. Keep doin your thing girl (with fashion and you store). Keep letting the haters motivate you!

  85. chile boo ! you look a hot azz mess… a knock off video vixen.
there’s no style whatsoever in any of her looks…. again I say CHILE BOO !

  86. Yes, the comments seem a little mean. BUT, some are TRUE! This isn’t personal style AT ALL. This is GREAT clubwear inspiration though. I don’t know why she think she’s a modern day hippie (hippie makes me think of feathers not sequins for some odd reason) and I think if she wants to be recognized as “fashionable” she needs to just throw on outfits and not strategically place everything she wears.

As Alexander Wang once said, “Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing” and she proves this.

  87. I agree with Mirjeta she looks just like a mm clubwear inpiration to short to tight not everybody has her body lol need a litlle more of claasy and elegant

  88. Beauty bombshell, Yes! Fashion bombshell, No way to far to be Fashion is something else….lol but she is cute..

  89. She’s from Mississippi so she has the Mississippi style lol no Fashion not elegant just a pretty face with a great body …

  90. I know where I saw that style on Gentleman Club She have to change her style if you can call THAT STYLE UPPPSSSS SORRY

  91. Camila i think ur mean I love Sonya bee cloting go for it gurl and God bless u baby gurl……Your the best

  92. Wow..people tend to attack “pretty girls”..”fat girls” while anyone with a forever 21 blazer on with 2lbs of weave and cutoff denim shorts with a fake designer bag and a turban is granted fashion bomb status all while posing in a bathroom!!

Claire..it is time to just present the image & vote button while leaving out the comment option.

Plus I HATE WHEN WE FEATURE MEN..STOP DOING MEN..PLEASE

  93. look fantastic in body and face, however you are not Zoolander, no need to purse your lips every other shot.
other than that, UMMMH, mm mm!

  94. She’s cute.
    Her clothes are sexy
    …and she sells sexy clothes.
I fail to see the problem.
She’s no fashion icon but she is definitely a smart business woman.
When she walks her brand is in motion.
…and I just clicked the link and will be buying one of her dresses :-)

  95. To begin, I have shopped at Sonya Bee’s boutique a few times and so far so good. However, the rep, Ingrid, has an attitude problem and is a poor example of quality customer service. She will eventually be a negative aspect of the company if changes aren’t made.

I think Sonya has a lot of style, but the correct pictures weren’t chosen for this post. There was no versatility. All we saw were short dresses when clearly she has so much more to offer. Her body, face, and hair is always on point. I just think she should have incorporated some of the jackets, pants, leggings, and long maxi dresses that she displays on her website. Above all, she is really a great example of a Mississippi girl pursuing her dream…goooo Sonya!!!

Style has no face, shape, or size!!!!!
