Beyoncé continued to promote her charitable work with the Show Your Helping Hand Campaign, this time as her tour hit Chi-Town. Sporting a new take on safari khaki, the pop queen’s duds featured the signature Bey sparkle, this time in the form of an elaborate studded belt. It’s a cute outfit for Sasha Fierce’s alter ego but something about the ruching on the shirt makes it appear too bunched. I’d have liked to see her rock a crisp white button-down, instead, to contrast with the flashy belt, hmm…
Newly engaged Christina Milian kicked it at a birthday party in Hollywood wearing one of summer’s hottest color trends, red-orange. Her short-sleeved sheath with draping is quite chic and pairs nicely with her shades. I’d have loved to see her with a different shoe (a leopard-print pump would have killed it) but, honestly, I’m just glad she dropped the “Miliblonde” look, for the most part (although I kinda like the blonde chunk she’s got going on in front–maybe y’all are “Hmm’in” me now ;-)…
UK singer-songwriter VV Brown, who’s been noted as a 2009 artist to watch here in the States, took the stage at day one of London’s Lovebox Weekender music event. Coveting her entire look, from the mad-cap print, origami-like blouse to the dark grey ruched leggings. And I need to ask our Beauty guru Eileen how to get that makeup look. Stat (red-orange again!). Quite hawte!
At Rush Philanthropic’s Tenth Anniversary Art For Life benefit, Vanessa Williams and Gayle King were among the glittery guests who sported the evening’s theme colors of black and white. The multi-hyphenate Ms. Williams looked fabulous in a sleeveless, A-line dress with a watercolor print, while Ms. King opted for an all-white, embroidered, strapless ensemble. Not feeling Gayle’s look as much as I am Vanessa’s, hmm…
Journalist Soledad O’Brien and singer Adrienne Bailon were also among the fashionable at Art for Life, demonstrating that art lovers come from all backgrounds. Soledad went for elegantly casual in a black, maxi-length wrap dress with turquoise jewelry, while Adrienne kept it short and sweet in an adorable one-shoulder cocktail dress with black sash. Loving Adrienne’s makeup, necklace, and minaudière, too. Nicely done for both ladies: their individual styles are appropriate for their personalities and ages, and show that “Hot” is all relative to the fashion lane you occupy…
Another new-to-the-Bomb style star, Shinga Shoniwa is the lead singer and bassist for indie punk band The Noisettes, who performed at the T4 On the Beach concert in England. Shinga for sure caught my eye with her head-turning style. Her cropped hot pink blazer, gold lamé leotard top, fishnets, and strategic pops of color boldly proclaim her unique style. At a time when so many “edgy” looks appear contrived, it’s nice to see someone for whom it just seems organic. Looking forward to keeping this style star on our radar…
What do you think of our Bomb celebs, old and new?
