Wow, it’s been quite a slow start this Monday, but we’re going to add a jolt of fab to the Bomb with fly London based Bombshell, Mercedes:

The American native writes, “My style is reflective of the many places I’ve lived and visited, and is always uber feminine.”

“…I love keeping my looks chic and sophisticated.”

” My closet is filled with classic pieces which I pair with trendier pieces to pull it all together.”

” I showcase my looks on my blog, stilettojetset.blogspot.co.uk, which I started when I moved to London this year.”

” I focus on developing personal style…”

” and translating trends into wearable outfits.”

” Style to me means never taking yourself too seriously.”

  1. She looks nice. I’m not inspired by her fashions or anything but she does look nice.

  2. She’s not buying the right size. It’s okay to go up in size and get tailored where necessary. But, her clothing is pulling at the arms and midsection!

  3. i know her style is not super trendy fashion forward, but i love everything about her style. It reminds me of me! LOL! Very classy and tasteful, keep doing it sweetie.

  4. Her make up is on point, her clothes suit her body type; except for the grey cotton dress maybe. Her shoe & bag games are not very varied, but she makes them pop differently in her outfits.
I would just advice her to choose her accessories more carefully; some just look out of place. A pretty girl though!

  5. Cute blue dress. Some of the dresses are too tight though and don’t flatter her middle. I also would love to see more daring shoe choices like round-toe pumps. The pointy toe is aging her so!

  6. Some hits and some misses due to the fit of some of the dresses, but I think she kept it simple and classic, and that’s okay too.

  7. Your belly fat is showing in all of the figure hugging dresses that you purchased. It means you need to go up a size and not wear them so tight. You have smaller legs, and black makes them look even smaller, so you have this look of being slightly top heavy. You need to show a variety in your heels. Too much black is not always fashionable depending on the fabrics.

  8. Love the blue number. Her clothes flatter the hell out of her figures. As for your ugly trolls suggesting spanx, I will leave you to your demise. The bile of greasy hate in your chest will consume your pathetic lives. Smh @ you triflin heauxs.

    You look amazing Mercedes.

  9. Ummmmm noo just noo she definitely should invest in spanx but pretty girl nonetheless

  10. Her clothes are not really my taste but the necklaces-game is SICK. I love her accessories.

  11. Her clothes do leave much to the imagination but they are executed very well, and as far as Spanx her body is all good to me! Get it girl! I wish my body looked like that!!

  12. I love her accessories and she’s a classic beauty but the dresses do not compliment her figure. A great part of style is knowing what works for ‘your’ body.

  13. Spanx are for smoothing out lumps not for eliminating the curves of real women. I love her style and think she exemplifies how to dress for your body instead of the bodies you see in magazines. Who says a girl who isn’t a disappearing act like most models should be swallowed by large dresses? Love the looks!

  14. ^^^Fortune hit the nail on the head. Spanx won’t give you a flat stomach, it looks like she’s wearing them already. Anyways she looks cute, I quite like the outfits!

  15. Well at least, we know she is eating well in london. She has some belly fat issues and she does need spanx. But, I agree she is a nice looking woman. Her fashions don’t inspire me either at this point. Maybe, she needs to stay in london longer, to really adapt to the UK fashion. We all know they have fabulous shops in London.

  16. Her style is similar to Claire’s. Here is some corrective critisism which we all need here and there. 1. Your style is great however I’m with some of the other ladies go up a size and tailor your clothes (if it’s in the budget). 2. Please get a girdle ( I sound like my Gma) but I prOmise u won’t be disappointed. 3 go darker on tOp and lighter on the bottom if possible. 4. Above all else stay blessed.

  17. @Clair..can you Block and Delete @Lola..she runs up and down these boobshell postings looking for beef..lord help her…

  18. wow. i hope this girl has a strong backbone because if i was subjected o all those spanx comments i would surely break all the way down. I only see two outfits where I can see the imprint of her belly and those are light colored dresses. Other than that, her body is shapely and not lumpy, a great diversion from the leggings ridden lump a bumps who roam the streets of NYC.

Her style is simple yet chic. It’s definitely not high fashion but it’s normal and accessible and that’s why i like it.

  19. I think Lola is hilarious, her comments are always great for a laugh. Let her preach it.

I like her style a lot. Her looks aren’t too complicated but they’re pretty simple which I like. There are some issues with fit but overall I like the looks. She’s a beautiful girl!

  20. Wow, these comments are getting more classless by the day. Bombshell comments used to be so uplifting.. Wth happened? Are the readers getting younger? Are the demographics changing… Ugh, I’m starting to get really turned off…

The girl is cute nonetheless, do you boo and keep the confidence up! :)

  21. *Deep Sigh* Ladies can we behave as such you can offer criticism without out the straight up nastiness.

Yes, the bombshell should invest in proper undergarments but not because she’s fat. She def isn’t fat. As a slimmer woman I don’t have the flattest stomach but a simple slip and sometimes under shirt (cami, stretch tank, etc) keeps clingy clothes from clinging to every bulge and bump. Other than that she’s gorge and a bombshell for sure. BTW- even skinny Hollywood actresses wear spanxs.

@Mercedes Lady, I hope you have a killer self-esteem ’cause some of these females…yikes!!! Keep your head up Ms. Lady and continue doing your thing.

  22. Spanx girl, I’m just saying. Especially if your going to be wearing such an unforgivable piece of clothing. That goes for ANYONE, skinny or heavier, that has a tummy. It’s not flattering. That being said, her style is nothing special.

  23. Everyone on the internet is a size 2 with 6 packs abs…SMH… I like your dresses, they’re classic and timeless and I do think they are flattering to your figure… I hate tights but that’s my personal beef… I do think your dresses might enjoy a trip through my shoe closet but other than that, I think you look great

  24. I definitely agree with TT. It’s not so much about what is being said, but how it’s being said.

Anywho, although I am not in love with her choices, I can’t deny those statement necklaces, pretty makeup, and that blue dress :)

  25. I think you look great! I’ve definitely seen your style involve to truly your own! You know what looks great on you and have ventured into the world of color! I love it! Be you and be proud of you! you obviously cool enough to be featured!

  26. Most of the girls from London have been fashion bomb material or at least potential. I don’t see anything here.

  27. It’s funny how half of these simple women don’t know that there is no such word as “fashions”…yet you’re the first to come here and leave nasty comments. Akata women..forever basic. And why should Claire block Lola?? What happened to the likes of fashion road kill and aha and the rest of those trolls?? Dpmo! And Im still waiting on the troll committee to make submissions, seeing as you’re all fashion aficinados. I swear black women do the most..

  28. Interesting comments. I wonder how many of those commenting negatively have been chosen for fashion bombshell of the day. It is very easy to sit behind a computer screen and say disrespectful things without blinking but not in the real world. These are usually the people whose opinions matter least. Mercedes you look amazing in all of these pictures. I will be checking out your blog ASAP!

  29. The reality is that clothes and style do interact with your body type and Mercedes is not dressing well for her body type…hence all of the Spanx comments. I’ve seen full figured women on here with great style, but I’m not crazy about this one. She doesn’t look terrible, but does not have the makings of a fashion bomb- even just looking at the clothes alone.

  30. :fainting: “I swear black women do the most” @Jay it should be on a T-shirt. Also not a huge fan of her style…for me. But it’s on her and she looks comfy while being classy. What’s the challenge? None.

The idea is to get inspired by others seen here, I’d like to think. For me, I now have new ways to wear a mini-dress (blazer and tights…who knew?)

  31. I love reading fashion blogs but was very surprised in the lack of class and respect we have for this sister. As a mother and educator I’ve always taught me children and students, “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything.” I can tell by the venom in most of these responses that it is pure envy. We are disrespected enough by men, why would you try to beat a young lady down to build yourself up. It says a lot about a person that would cowardly hide behind their email responses. Mercedes, you are fabulous and many of your critics are just jealous so keep doing what you are doing and don’t read the nonsense on this blog. Continue to live your life like it’s golden and maybe your haters will learn some class from you.

  32. At the end of the day her style isn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t call her stylish.Spanx is every woman’s best friend. I’m a size 2-4 and even I wear it sometimes with certain outfits. Nothing to have hard feelings about.

  33. You’re jealous when someone has something you want. It’s not her style I want, and I don’t know her personally. So believe me, NOBODY IS JEALOUS! best of luck on your fashion journey.

  34. Polished look, not my cup of tea because she doesn’t wear much color other then the blue dress. And yes mami Spanx is a must in those tight fitting outfits.

  35. I like her look- very polished and put together. She may not be uber trendy but she looks like a confident, classy young woman and I love that.

  36. @ElleBelle well said. I think soon Claire may have to take this segment out cause no one will wanna send anything to post will all this negativity. Its one thing to give an opinion but another thing to be out right mean. IJS

  37. @ElleBelle well said. I think soon Claire may have to take this segment out cause no one with wanna send anything to post will all this negativity. Its one thing to give an opinion but another thing to be out right mean. IJS

  38. she looks amazing. shoe and color game is lacking. the pictures should scream bombshell but here, you have to look harder.

  39. Love her style. It simple and feminine but sometimes a bit too type (I’ve been prone to do that too)! Anyway gorgeous girl with some lovely looks and great figure!

  40. She’s actually well dressed except for the bit about not dressing for her tummy. She just needs something to tuck it all in. I don’t have the flattest stomach in the world which is why I stay away from skin tight clothes. She’s a cute chic.

  41. I like her style but all of her outfits consist of a different color dress, black tights and black shoes. Not that diverse imo.

  42. I love this bombshell because she and I have similar shapes. So I will definitely be checking out her blog. I think she dresses for her body type which can be hard to find examples for. She needs to invest in some control top or something like that, and try more texture. But she is on her way.

  43. Very boring. I don’t see the classic pieces thrown together with trendy pieces. She has pretty good basics, but overall it falls flat for me. A floral (or a bright) maxi dress paired with that crisp classic blazer and a statement ring would have been more inspiring.
