Hey Hey!

Today’s Bombshell is Lemale, a fashionista from New Jersey:

She says, “As a mom to a 2 year old it is hard to stay in the loop of what is hot and still make sure I stay practical for my lifestyle. That is why I LOVE your blog, it gives great ideas and alternatives.”

“I love bold colors and accessories.”

“I am always changing my hair, so I’ve learned how to play up my looks with different accessories.”

Cute looks! Love your purple romper.

What do you guys think?

  1. I love the purple romper….but the deodorant is very distracting….I actually like the clothes…the blue dress is cute…just would of like to see it worn differently….Im not feeling the hair in the last pic..

  2. Sigh….seriously tho? she just should have submitted her pics cropped from the neck up for a HAIR BLOG…this is FASHION BOMB DAILY.. im sorry..trying to be nice

  3. I really wanted to enjoy today’s cloths on today’s bombshell but I couldn’t get past the deoderant :( That’s a fashion faux pas for me…

Her shoes, bag and fedora are nice :)

  4. Her style is kind of cute but it’s nothing about it that stands out! Her deoderant is distracting but I love her Fedora and her confidence which is like a pre-requisite if you’re goinng to send in your pics for this!!!!!!!!

  5. “i love bold colors and accessories”?…..Are you serious? I cant see that in any of her pics, her “style” is pretty BLAH, there is nothing there. Pretty girl, but no style. Next!

  6. Lemale looks very cute. I especially like the gray strapless sweetheart dress reminds me of a Nicole Miller metal dress. No cleavage hanging out, no spandex leggings, no smedium tops. Sexy yet classy. Definitely a Fashion Bombshell!

  7. while the deodorant id distracting, i put two hands together for anyone who makes sure they have their personal hygiene on point. better to have deodorant stains then none on at all.

the romper is way too tight and not doing her any favors, and the hair in the fourth pic does not compliment her either. she’s a good looking girl otherwise.

  8. When I see these comments I’m wondering if I am commenting on the right thing here, namely her clothes!

It’s nothing too extreme, though I can’t seem to find the bold accessories anywhere though…?

But I’ll admit she is pretty :-)

  9. Ok. No one will say it but….we need some standards on this fashion bombshell because I refuse to scrutinize regular everyday women. I will not. I want to see Nicholas Kirkwood, or Behnaz Kanani, I’ll even take Christian Siriano for Payless. Be creative. But for fashion critic sake, don’t give me average.

  10. She is a mother of a two year old, so I have to give her a fist pump! Chasing after a 2 year old, I feel your pain! Ok, back to the fashion…
I like the purple romper and the black dress.

The person that made the scars/deoderant comment must be a personal enemy of hers. In her defense, I will say that sometimes, a camera’s flash can enhance things that don’t appear that way under regular light. But the critique in me wonders why she couldn’t just do a quick photoshop/paint job on that little spot before sending the pic in…but its all good! :)

Mz. Bronze, I get what you’re saying. However, I think the fashion bombshell of the day is for average women to display their “style”, vs the fashion elite showcasing their outfits. The average woman can’t afford Nicholas Kirkwood, heck I hate to say it but the average woman can’t even afford Bebe, (cringes) which is why a lot of women send their pics in thinking they’re shutting it DOWN, and we’re on our computers with the frowny face, lol! I enjoy fashionbombdaily.com, and I don’t want to offend the site/Claire when I say this, but I don’t think this site is geared for the super stylish woman. Its more of a “what-to-wear-for-the-regular-everyday-woman” kind of blog, which is fine. But when it comes to the fashion bombshell, I think some of us are dissappointed because of the title “BOMBSHELL”. We’re expecting some fresh, quality pieces and style, but instead we’re getting…ordinary. I won’t say bleh, but its ordinary.

That is all for my dissertation.

  11. I should probably clear something up, I’m not criticizing her at all. So hopefully my comment didn’t comment come across as such. I do love the fedora and bag. That picture reminds me of a Kelly Rowland picture – however, I honestly could not stop looking at the deoderant.

If I had to pick, I’d go with #1. Simple and casual. Nothing distracting me. The wide leg pants are my favorite.

  12. SMH… The point of this is to show STYLE whether u believe it or not everyone has their own just bc u don’t like how hers is presented rude comments aren’t needed, as far as I’m concered she looks great a lot of yall are sound like u hatin- if u want to be featured on here send ur pics in & the other half of yall sound like u just cosignin. Yall are ignorant

  13. shout to Kapri_ H … thanks for the love .. and to all of u that had nuthing nice to say that is fine! I see it everyday .. black women who try to make negative remarks about other black women to build themselves up. I appreciate the negative and the positive .. and as far as the scars and deodrant , I AM A REAL WOMAN.. no photoshop here .. I thought that the whole purpose of this is for real women to submit their photos to be inspiration to other real women. Not what we already see in magazines of black women who have been bleached, photoshopped, cropped and edited .. And the only difference between me and you all that had nuthing nice to say is that I had the confidence in myself to submit my photo not sit back and talk.

  14. Real life is made up of positive and negative. So what if others don’t dig your style? You do it every day, make judgements, comments and critiques about others. Only Jesus did not.

What part of allowing deodorant to show is being a real woman??

    Girl BYE

  15. Dear All,
Overly negative, unnecessarily rude comments will be deleted. I like to think the Fashion Bomb is for everyone…from the everyday girl looking for style guidance to the hardcore fashionista who needs to know what’s hot on the runways. I really like this feature, but am always so sad at the direction of the comments. It’s something that we’ll have to continue to struggle with, but I will continue to moderate as quickly as I can to make sure we’re being as respectful as possible to each other. Thanks Lemale for your submission and I’m looking forward to more pix from you fabulous readers!

  16. Well said @Lemale.

My initial comment was deleted because I pointed out some true vileness I guess *shrug*…. but I complimented your beige skirt and fedora.

Super stylish to some (Beyonce in mixed prints, IMO) is just ho-hum (Kim Kardashian in fitted dress #123456789 :-\ , again JMO) to others. Fashion is varied, which is the beauty of it!

    Keep styling!

  17. Uggh where should I start. Lmao. I’m sorry but were any of your pics picked for the Bombshell of the day. I think not!!!! Pls sit down until you put ya ish up here. I think its funny how ppl say negative things ONLY to want others to jump on the bandwagon. She is a mother of a 2yrs old & is still very well put together. Some of ya’ll are probably a mother of NONE & still look a hot mess! Lol. This blog is not a celeb blog. Its for regular woman who want to express their style. Maybe your pic can be up next & I’m almost positive ya’ll won’t have a Fedora, you won’t have on a Romper or anything that a grown woman would wear. You’ll have on the average hood chick, everyday, dinner, movie, funeral, job interview, long shirt with spandex tights w/ a pair of heels on thinkin your flyy. #Girlbye. @ Lemale. Pls don’t play these highschool kids any mind. I like your style. Ima a mother to & sometimes you get caught up in the mommy world & forget that your a woman first even tho motherhood is your 1st job.

  18. Yall sound like some real haters!! Deodorant showing really?!?! Thats all yall got!! Please she looks fab and cute and if u saw her walking by he would have the nerve to say it to her face. Keep styling Lemale you are fab and dont let nobody tell u any different!!

  19. Lemale,

I am another real woman, with real kids. I think you look great for having a 2 year old. It is VERY hard to take care of a 2 year old and still look cute. I believe the comments on this site have gotten very out of hand. You have real everyday style which is refreshing from all of the unrealistic things I have seen on here. Plus your style is respectful. I just think black woman need to stop being nasty to each other. That’s what “folks” expect out of us, ignorance. And when woman are mean, disrespectful, and judgmental we are just proving their point. So, let’s respect and love each other. Because at the end of the day it’s just materialistic items that really aren’t important in the bigger picture of life. Plus, the people that say mean things don’t matter and the people that matter don’t say mean things. Lemale keep doing you!

  20. Why is every one tripping about the deodorant comments? The same thing was said about Gabby Union in another post from today. Sure it’s not something that needs to be pointed out, but it also isn’t the worst thing that could be said.

  21. I did not say one negative thing about the young lady. And my intention was not to bring anyone down. I don’t do that. I’ll play by the rules.

    1. Beautiful pose. 2. To avoid the discoloration that occurs from shaving women should consider waxing their underarms. Waxing last for up to 2 weeks and gives a nice even appearance.

  22. Wow, I am so surprised by the negativity! Lemale, I didn’t see one look I didn’t like. You’re right, you’re a real woman with real style. I love your shoes with your purple romper. And that little clutch in the outfit with the purple top and white pants adds just the right kind of pop to the outfit. Kudos!

  23. Fashion is what you make it and everyone doesn’t have to like it!! It doesn’t matter how much you spend or where you get it from. I have seen the best outfits that are also the cheapest, it’s all about how you put it together!! Have fun with it and it’s ok to be different.

With that said, I say good job to Lemale. Black is beautiful!! Ladies, you all (we) should embrace each other.

By the way, LOVE the fedora..I have on myslef that I got from Target (my favorite place) :)

  24. I agree that I expect to be impressed by the bombshell entries. But I think Lemale is keeping it together pretty well, especially considering that she is a mom. Most of the best entries come from single gals with the time and money to invest in signature/hot pieces.

And for all of the harsh critics out there, please submit your photos. I don’t understand how it benefits anyone to be nasty. Constructive comments or no comments, please.

  25. Feminine

If all of the comments are geared in a positive direction, most people will not choose to add harsh criticism.

For those who write something negative…I encourage them to stop and think “how is this benefiting me or anyone who reads it?” and if you can’t come up with a sensible answer then don’t click submit.

  26. lmao these people are sooo funny… I love to read the negative comments becuase these are the same poeple how think you have to be trendy and stylish with name brand clothes! hhahaha SMH@ them. Lemale.. you look very cute!!!
you have on season’s key peices… you are definitely in style and trendy.. romper, fedora, the color purple, white hobo bag, an oragami hem0like dress and sunnies on deck!.. very cute.. (and this is coming from a true stylista)
I LOVE this site and its definitely a REAL woman’s blog and I love how Claire shows celebrity style and whats poppin for the season… Fashion bomshell is just a reflexion on how they get fly with the season’s key items and express THEIR style…
You go girl… you have a child and still have the time to dress up and look great….
    Kudos!!!

  27. Greetings to All,
Usually I look and do not comment but today I fell compelled to say something. I think that many times we can’t fully articulate what the tone of words are when it’s typed versus said verbally. I personally enjoy the entire website and I look forward to logging on here each day especially to see the “Bombshell” and see what a new day brings. I think it’s important to understand that Claire uses her own personal discretion of who she posts w/o discriminating towards those who may not be draped in high end fashion. Fashion is going to be different for everyone and not all of our interpretation of “FASHIONABLE” will be the same but none the less it can be accepted. I think it’s also important to note that when submitting a photo you unfortunately do run the risk of being criticized or people having negative things to say based on their own personal expectations. Please Ladies take “the bombshell” of the day for what it’s worth try a different approach in critiquing each person who submits their photos. I think there’s a way to get a point across without being so derogatory and negative. Even the most fashionable of us have something to learn and we’re all constantly evolving so lets find a way to build each other up and offer positive feed back and criticisms in a way where it doesn’t seem like you are attacking someone because of what you think maybe fashionable or non-fashionable.

  28. Just to expand on how to approach the deodorant visible in the photo with the purple romper. I too have had this happen to me and its disappointing especially when you think you’re on point and see the picture like omg you can see the deodorant. LOL While I think the romper is nice and rich in color and she looks nice I’d suggest opting for a clear deodorant next time or just make sure it’s not visible if you use a solid. No need to blow a gasket over the deodorant showing just offer suggestions for next time while expressing your opinion.

  29. I haven’t seen a really good fashion bombshell since the girl GiGi like last month. I absolutely love this site but I have to say I’m very dissapointed in the bombshell choices as of late. I’m from Philly and the ladies from Philly haven’t even represented much. I hc not the best we have to offer. She looks nice but if this is her best effort I have to give her a C-

  30. *sigh* Hating is so overused when giving commentary. I suppose it would be best if Claire really did shut down the comments section, seeing as though a critique that isn’t exact and/or similar to what the masses have posted comes across as rude or disrespectful.

If the point of commenting is to give an opinion, however good, bad or indifferent it may be causes such alarm… what’s the point of anyone commenting at all.

I’ll reiterate my comment by saying, I had no ill intent at all. My opinion was what I felt at that moment. After which, I did go back to assess the outfits and found her 1st fit more in tune to what I’d wear and there wasn’t anything distracting about it (IMO).

    WTS… I’ll digress :)

  31. I feel, Lemale, you have some good pieces i.e. the fedora, last dress, the shoes, khaki skirt and white tank. Although, I feel on the last dress accessories (the bold ones you love) and I size down was maybe needed. Accessories needed with the romper I would say maybe a crossbody bag and a size up( looks a little form fitting). Also, you should invest maybe some trousers or bf jeans if you haven’t. I’d think they’d look wonderful on you. Possibly high waisted shorts (if you haven’t) since you have nice legs. The deodorant is no big deal. Gosh folks it’s not like she crack all over her mouth. I believe your role in your life should not affect the opinion of someone’s style. For example, being a mom(please 13 year olds are having babies).

  32. MAYBE I SHOULD EXPLAIN…LEMALE, REGARDLESS WHAT MYSELF OR ANYONE HAS TO SAY YOU’RE VERY PRETTY AND WHAT YOU HAVE ON WORKS FOR YOU, FROM YOUR CHOICE OF COLORS TO YOUR HAIRSTYLE. I AM ONLY STATING THAT IT’S ORDINARY. ON A FASHION SITE IT’S SIMPLY NOT EXTRAORDINARY, THAT’S ALL I’M SAYING. I’M SURE YOU COULD CARE LESS WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY (AS YOU SHOULD) BUT I EXPECT MORE FOR THE “BOMBSHELL”
I HAVE NO COMMENT ON THE DEODARANT (THAT’S DUMB, IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US) AND LIKE I SAID YOU’RE GORGEOUS, FIST PUMP TO A FELLOW MOM LOOKING THIS GREAT!!! NOT FEELING THE CLOTHES BUT HEY WHO AM I??
