Vuitton here to give you the rundown of what’s to come in men’s fashion later this year.  We’ve highlighted the major men’s trends from Europe. Let’s take a look:

Chunky Knits:

This isn’t your grandpa’s Christmas sweater.  You know; the one with the horrid 2-D Christmas tree?  This season, designers like Viktor & Rolf, Jean Paul Gaultier, D&G, and Bottega Veneta created pieces that are both practical and stylish without being overbearing.  Chunky sweaters are perfect for those who live where the cold hits the hardest.  Bold prints seem to be more on the trendy side, but a classic color like off-white, black or gray has more longevity.  Pair with a chunky knit scarf to complete the look.

Next up…Trench Coats:

Though a classic piece, every trench coat doesn’t have to be camel or black.  This fall, go for more bold colors like blue and purple, as seen at Etro, and make sure the trench is impeccably tailored à la Gucci and Burberry Prorsum.  You don’t want to look like you’re drowning in it.  Or, if you think and wear outside the box, then a more subtly, yet architecturally constructed trench coat, like the ones seen in Jil Sander’s collection would be positively smashing.

And lastly, Welcome to the Dark Side:

We’re not asking you to pitch with grenades here, but layers, black, and leather accessories can definitely bring out a bit of the dark side you never thought you had in you.  A little bit of sinister swag can go a long way if done correctly.  Black outerwear as seen on the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier and Gianfranco Ferré ruled Milan and can rule your wardrobe.  Pair with classic pieces to balance the look out.  Leather gloves and tops in Alexander McQueen and Versace’s shows, respectively, were also a big hit.  Not sure about McQueen’s H1N1 mask, but that sweater has my name on it.
