Getting married can be expensive. Surveys and studies over the years have found that couples are spending more and more on their weddings than before. Of course, this won’t stop happy couples from tying the knot.
In a US News piece on affordable wedding venues, couples who got married in 2023 spent nearly 40% of their budget on venues. On average, couples spent $12,800 on their venues, depending on which state they got married in. Fortunately, finding alternative venues can help increase savings. Many of the venues US News highlighted are cost-effective outdoor venues like local public parks, national parks, barns, backyards, and beaches.
As such, outdoor weddings have become an increasingly popular alternative for couples who want to max out their savings while wedding planning. Of course, when it comes to attending outdoor weddings as a guest, it’s important to ensure you’re dressed appropriately. In this post, we’ll be sharing some tips for what to wear to an outdoor wedding:
Styling by season
One of the best ways to dress yourself for an outdoor wedding is to match the season the wedding would be held in. Winter is a good time for cool tones and sparkles â as long as you don’t outshine the bride â while summer is a great chance to wear bright, vibrant colors that fit the mood.
Meanwhile, fall is good for bringing out warm and deep autumn colors that look comfortable. This includes shades of reds, oranges, and yellows, and thick, cozy materials that emanate warmth. Of course, autumn colors aren’t just about fallen leaves. If the outdoor wedding you’re attending has a set color theme in mind, many comforting colors fall under the autumn type, including olive green and eggplant purple. Of course, styling your wedding guest look by season also goes beyond colors. Think of what materials look best for the time of year, such as sheers for spring and summer, and woolly textures for fall and winter.
Designer sunglasses
Due to the difference in setting and environment, sunglasses are an essential for outdoor weddings, not only for fashion and style points, but for much-needed sun protection as well. While wearing sunglasses indoors for conventional weddings may get you weird stares from other guests, pulling out your stylish shades for an outdoor wedding is more than okay.
Nowadays, eyewear retailers like Vision Express offer designer sunglasses from brands like Ray-Ban, Prada, and Gucci, with options for photochromic lens upgrades if the wedding you’re attending will alternate between indoor and outdoor spaces. Stylistically, sunglasses are also great for adding colors or texture to your overall look. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer Change, for example, are a great choice if you want a pop of color to complete your look. Its photochromic frame design is also an innovative gimmick, allowing the shades’ blue frames to change colors depending on light conditions. Still, it’s important not to go too bold or attention-grabbing with your shades to stay respectful to the bride and groom.
Adding layers
Finally, regardless of the time of year, you should try to incorporate layers into your outdoor wedding outfit. This helps texturize your look, especially if your dress or suit doesn’t have prints or patterns.
Depending on the theme and time of year of the wedding, you can experiment with various kinds of layers. A blazer is always a good and straightforward option to wear over your wedding guest dress, while a leather jacket offers an edgier and modernized choice. Of course, a leather jacket can look too laidback for more formal outdoor weddings and dress codes, so you should only go for this if the outdoor wedding asks for a cocktail or casual dress code. For warmer weather, sheers are good outerwear that prevents your wedding guest outfit from looking too flat.
The 55-year-old billionaire who’s been serving as the Live Music Entertainment Strategist for the NFL since 2019 was on daddy duties. He looked understated, rocking an all-black ensemble including a black crew neck styled with baggy jeans. Jay accessorized with a black beanie and designer shades. His coke-white sneakers added a nice contrast to his black monochromatic outfit.
Beyonce was noticeably absent, and we’re sure she’s probably still recovering from breaking history at the Grammy’s or working on her next project. None the less, she ensured her daughters were fresh to death per usual.
Their oldest daughter Blue Ivy who is officially a teenager, looked sporty chic in a $11,500 black Balenciaga Moto Biker jacket from the brands Spring/Summer 2023 runway collection. She completed her look with blue cargo jeans, Nike dunks, and matching rectangular shades as her father.
Rumi Carter stayed true to the black and white theme, opting for a black track jacket, layered over a white top and paired with light wash blue jeans. Her classic white tennis shoes went perfectly with her off-white Amiri crossbody.
Retailing for $650 and made from 100% cotton, Rumi’s ‘Canvas Camera Case Bag’ featured Amiri’s black logo embroidered at the center, and an adjustable and detachable logo-woven crossbody strap.
In a video of the trio posted on Fashion Bomb daily Instagram page, that has already garnered 15K likes, you can clearly see how close-knitted their family is.
Fans couldn’t get enough of how bomb they all looked. Instagram user @anjaneeunique shared, “Rumi knows she’s famousđ, ” while @phoenixkeepsrising commented, “Blue Ivy is so media trained. I see her. I’m so proud of her! That baby is a brilliant and beautiful being. She carries all of this with a grace that is far behind her years it is remarkable to see.”
Leading up to her iconic moment, Serena had her daughter Olympia Ohanian right by her side during rehearsal, showing her how it’s done. Olympia who looked adorable in a white graphic tee, with black and white flare bottoms watched her mother with amazement in her eyes.
The legendary tennis star, who’s style is often described as athletic luxe with couture touches, performed in a cobalt blue Nike crop jacket that she layered over a white tank and paired with a matching tennis skirt from the brands Nike 24.7 collection.
@Ingabeckham shared, “Compton in the house !!!!!đđ˝đđ˝đđ˝đđ˝đđ˝âźď¸đđ˝đđ˝,” while @Iveystarz expressed, “đĽđĽ she was the best part of the halftime!”
Crip-walking originated during the 1970’s and became popular among the Los Angeles gang culture, specifically “the Crips.” The dance has sense evolved into pop culture, with many people adding their own flair while showing off their rhythmic dance moves.
Williams was sought out personally by Kendrick and his team to crip-walk on stage during half-time. In the caption of a video posted to her Instagram, she shared,
“When @Kendricklamar and team called and was like ‘we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal.’ I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious? When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a Super Bowl? (Never) let’s do it!”
Serena Williams was undoubtedly one of the best highlights of the Super Bowl LIX and she absolutely nailed her performance. The retired tennis legend has proven that her legacy exceeds far beyond the court, and we’re always inspired by her unparallel talent.
Thought-provoking, mind-opening and enlightening, Kendrick Lamar kicked off half-time at this year’s Super Bowl LIX with an unforgettable performance.
The Compton rapper brought his artistic flare to the stage, performing smashing hits from his latest album, âGNX,” including “Squabble Up,” “Euphoria,” and “Not like Us.” He paid homage to the West Coast with his set design, turf dancers and crip walkers, all while being intentional about his message.
K-Dot who just won 5 Grammy’s earlier this month, took center stage in a custom red, white and blue Martine Rose leather jacket by the British designer that featured the name “Gloria” across the front. According to Sports Illustrated, “Gloria“â is a metaphor for his pen game and his rhyming skills.
He styled his biker jacket with light blue Celine âSergeâ flare jeans that were featured in the brands 2019 runway show and inspired by French singer Serge Gainsbourg. He accessorized with a black new era cap, leather gloves and diamond layered necklaces that shone brightly. When it came down to his shoes, he opted for white and black Nike DT Max 96 sneakers.
There were many symbolisms throughout Kendrick’s performance, including Samuel L. Jackson opening the show in a navy custom Bode suit as he played Uncle Sam. Samuel narrated the show from the perspective of a black Uncle Sam.
In the beginning, you can hear Samuel say, “No! No! No! Too loud, too reckless, too ghetto….â (hinting at how ‘they’ truly think of us) and questions whether Kendrick knows how to play the game that we were systematically and subconsciously taught to play.” There were many symbolic references made throughout the show about systematic issues, and cultural identity.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect than during Black History month and during a time of political unrest for many minorities. Kendrick’s performance created a story line demonstrating some of the obstacles black people have endured, while simultaneously providing a platform for black artistry to shine through.
In addition to Samuel L Jackson, Kendrick surprised the crowd when SZA, Serena Williams and Dj Mustard joined him on stage.
DJ mustard mirrored Kedrick’s style rocking a custom black and yellow Vanson Leather biker jacket that he paired with baggy blue denim jeans.
When it came down to K-Dot’s dancers, they wore monochromatic red, white and blue ensembles that included hoodies, bomber jackets and straight fitted jeans.
Kendrick Lamar’s half-time performance was historic and one for the ages. His message was loud and clear and artistically, the imagery, and dance moves were perfectly executed.
Bravo to K-dot for being intentional about his message with his half-time performance!

In the 1990s, hip-hop wasnât just a musical revolutionâit was a cultural movement that transformed fashion, art, and self-expression. At the forefront of shaping the visual identity of this era was a dynamic team of stylists known as The Mod SquadâJune Ambrose, Eric Archibald, Atiba Newsome, and Roger McKenzie. These creative visionaries didnât just dress artists; they crafted the looks that defined a generation, setting the stage for hip-hopâs evolution into a global fashion powerhouse.
The Birth of a Fashion Dream Team
June Ambrose, an ambitious and fearless stylist, founded The ModĂŠ Squad, Inc. in the early 1990s, recognizing a need for bold, innovative styling in the burgeoning hip-hop industry. She saw fashion as a key storytelling tool in music videos, where artists were rapidly becoming cultural icons.
Eric Archibald, a fellow stylist and fashion expert, crossed paths with Ambrose in the New York fashion scene. Their mutual passion for pushing creative boundaries led them to collaborate on projects that would reshape urban fashion. Together, they brought in Atiba Newsome and Roger McKenzie, two other fashion stylists with a keen eye for aesthetics, forming a powerhouse team that styled some of the most iconic hip-hop artists of the decade.
Defining Hip-Hop Fashion in the 90s
With their collective talent, The Mod Squad became the go-to team for artists looking to elevate their image. They were responsible for styling some of the most influential hip-hop and R&B music videos of the 1990s and early 2000s. Their work wasnât just about clothingâit was about curating entire personas through fashion.
⢠June Ambrose was known for her ability to merge high fashion with street style, crafting memorable looks for artists like Missy Elliott, Puff Daddy (Diddy), Jay-Z, and Busta Rhymes. She was instrumental in pioneering avant-garde hip-hop fashion, including Missy Elliottâs famous inflated garbage bag suit in the Supa Dupa Fly video.
⢠Eric Archibald, a master of luxury fashion and urban edge, contributed his expertise to major projects, styling artists like 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, and BeyoncÊ. His work helped bridge the gap between hip-hop and high-end fashion.

⢠Atiba Newsome, who later became a fashion director at Bleu magazine, worked alongside Ambrose and Archibald in crafting looks for hip-hop and R&Bâs biggest names, helping to define a new era of urban style that fused athletic wear, tailored suits, and luxury brands.

⢠Roger McKenzie, another key stylist in the group, focused on editorial styling and music videos, helping to translate the evolving hip-hop aesthetic into a mainstream fashion movement.
Cultural Impact & Lasting Legacy
The Mod Squad didnât just follow trendsâthey created them. They were among the first to introduce luxury brands like Versace, Gucci, and Prada to hip-hop artists, forever changing the landscape of fashion in the industry. Before them, hip-hop was associated primarily with oversized jeans, Timberland boots, and sports jerseys. But thanks to their styling, artists began embracing tailored suits, designer pieces, and futuristic streetwear.
Their impact is still evident today. June Ambrose continues to be a fashion force, currently serving as a creative director for Puma. Eric Archibald remains a sought-after stylist for top-tier celebrities, while Atiba Newsome and Roger McKenzie have both left their mark on the industry through editorial and commercial styling.
Together, The Mod Squad played a crucial role in defining hip-hopâs golden era, proving that fashion and music are inseparable forces in shaping culture. Their work continues to influence contemporary hip-hop fashion, as todayâs artists still draw inspiration from the groundbreaking styles they pioneered decades ago.
Few figures in fashion, music, and film command the presence of Grace Jones. Her bold aesthetics, androgynous beauty, and fearless persona redefined what it meant to be a cultural icon. More than just a model or singer, Jones was a disruptor, a trendsetter, and a symbol of unapologetic individuality.
Breaking Boundaries in Fashion and Music
Jones shattered conventions in the 1970s and â80s, becoming a muse for top designers like Thierry Mugler and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Her angular features, sculpted physique, and gender-fluid style challenged traditional beauty norms, making her a trailblazer in high fashion.
Much like Cadillacâs âBe Iconicâ campaign, which celebrates those who lead with confidence, Jones never followed trendsâshe set them. Her impact extended into music, where her fusion of disco, new wave, and reggae created a genre-defying sound that still influences artists today.
A Living Work of Art
Jones wasnât just stylishâshe was art itself. Her high-fashion looks, dramatic headpieces, and powerful stage presence made her a walking masterpiece, much like a Cadillac Escalade dominates the roadâbold, unmistakable, and built to stand out.
Beyond her image, she represented freedom, strength, and reinvention, influencing generations of musicians, designers, and performers. Like Cadillac, she embodies timeless luxury and fearless innovation.
A Legacy That Defies Time
Grace Jones remains as iconic today as ever, proving that true legends donât fadeâthey evolve. Like Cadillac, her influence is bold, powerful, and forever ahead of its time.
To be iconic is to be unforgettableâand Grace Jones defines it.
Following a 5-year hiatus, Playboy magazine has returned with Lori Harvey gracing the front of their cover page in a mint green feather coat that she paired with a silver embellished bikini top.
Lori who is known for her high-fashion presence and has been linked to celebs like Michael B. Jordan and Damson Idris served ultra sex-appeal. Photographed by Greg Swales, and styled by Leila Bani, Harvey came to life in her Playboy magazine layout.
We’re sure there’s probably a ton of men in the entertainment industry drooling over the 28-year-old who often garners much attention for her beauty. Meek Mill even once shared that he had Lori Harvey on his wish list for Christmas on his 2019 Drake collaboration âGoing Bad.â
In one of the images, the Memphis, Tennessee naive posed topless in a powder pink feather tutu with matching satin gloves as she crossed her legs in front of a pool. Her hair featured blonde highlight with loose curl, and baby hair that was perfectly laid. She embodied glamour with a bronzy glow, and sun kissed lip.
She was also captured bending over in front of a rich green garden with live bunnies while wearing a blue and white plaid strapless mini dress, and baby blue thigh-high sheer tights.
In addition to the soft powder hues, the ‘SKN’ founder was a sensational hit in a chocolate brown sequins bodysuit that had a plunging neckline and statement shoulders. Lori’s brown feather over-the-knee boots were a fabulous contribution to her monochromatic ensemble.
Lori Harvey is undoubtedly one of the most highly sought-after influencers in pop culture so it’s no surprise to see her mark the return of Playboy magazine. We admire her ability to balance sexy with sophisticated, and ultimately thought her magazine feature was done tastefully.
