Rihanna made a stunning appearance at The Smurfs Movie premiere in Los Angeles, stepping onto the blue carpet in a custom Saint Laurent look.
Her outfit featured a sheer lace bustier paired with a voluminous brown satin skirt and an oversized leather jacket, showcasing her signature high-fashion edge with a touch of maternal elegance.
Joining her were her two sons, RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers, both dressed in custom Dior Men looks designed by Jonathan Anderson. RZA wore a pink tie, white shirt, and cargo trousers reminiscent of the Spring 2025 runway, while little Riot donned a tweed jacket, white cargo shorts, and black lace-up shoes—a mini version of a standout Dior menswear look.
This fashionable family moment turned heads and captured hearts, as Rihanna and her boys effortlessly merged high fashion with red carpet charm. From custom YSL to pint-sized Dior runway recreations, the trio continues to raise the bar on stylish family outings.
Long before embellished accessories became mainstream, China Moon Rags by Tichina Arnold defined an era. Launched after her run on Martin, the line brought bold, rhinestone-studded bandanas to the forefront of fashion. The iconic November 2000 issue of VIBE featured LisaRaye, MC Lyte, Vivica A. Fox, DJ Spinderella, Regina King, and Tichina herself, all glammed up in her sparkling designs.
The brand quickly became a go-to for some of the biggest stars of the early 2000s. Aaliyah, Beyoncé, J.Lo, and Missy Elliott all rocked China Moon Rags in music videos, on red carpets, and in unforgettable pop culture moments. The embellished bandanas became a symbol of Y2K style—playful, bold, and unapologetically unique.
Tichina Arnold’s vision didn’t just create a fashion trend—it sparked a movement. China Moon Rags is remembered today not just for its style, but for its innovation, cultural impact, and celebration of Black creativity and entrepreneurship.
Mariah the Scientist is turning heads with the bold visuals for her latest album, Hearts Sold Separately.
Styled by Jac Fleurant, the singer transforms into a sultry toy soldier wearing a custom green look by SEKS.LLC, complete with molded armor, holsters, gloves, and strappy shorts.
The striking color palette—deep army green against a soft pink carpet—evokes both nostalgia and rebellion, grounding the concept in vivid visual storytelling.
Her look is finished with a pair of rare Louis Vuitton 2011 platform boots, giving the aesthetic an archival edge. The outfit itself nods to classic green plastic army figurines, but this reimagining is modern, feminine, and fearless. From the sculpted chest plate to the oversized accessories, every element adds to the theme of love as a battlefield.
With this release, Mariah doesn’t just drop an album—she delivers a fashion moment. Equal parts conceptual and couture, the artwork sets the tone for a project that’s daring, disruptive, and uniquely her.

Day 1 at Essence Fest felt like a reunion—where you reconnect with familiar faces and the cultural icons who shaped your world. I started the weekend at a brunch hosted by Bevy Smith and H&M, with guests like Tisha Campbell and Living Single stars Erika Alexander and Kim Coles, who just launched a new podcast, Re-Living Single. It was a full-circle moment that reminded me why that show still resonates: it’s smart, funny, and ahead of its time.
Shows like Living Single weren’t just entertaining—they showed what was possible. Watching confident, career-driven Black women on screen helped shape my vision and, in many ways, inspired my move to New York and the creation of Fashion Bomb Daily. That kind of visibility matters. It plants seeds and opens doors.
After the brunch, I stopped by the Convention Center to explore the booths and take in the style. One standout was Camille Rose Naturals. Their setup was beautiful, and the product line was just as impressive—rich textures, clean ingredients, and a strong sense of identity. Be sure to stop by today for free samples and $10 products all weekend long!
It was a great example of what makes Essence Fest unique: it’s a space where culture and commerce meet on our terms.
I’ll be out and about in New Orleans again today—if you see me in my new BWT Good Hair wig, feel free to say hi. Essence Fest is just getting started, and the energy is unmatched.
“She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment”
HOW YOU DOING? Because by the looks of it, Wendy Williams is doing perfectly fine, and she’s beginning to look like her old self again.
If you’ve been following the legendary talk host in recent months, then you know she’s been battling her court-ordered guardianship with Sabrina Morrissey, who manages her well being and finances. Williams has expressed her lack of autonomy to do as she pleases, which has ensued a “Free Wendy”movement with her fans protesting on behalf of her freedom.
As someone who has been described as “incapacitated,” she sure doesn’t look like it, and the media personality was recently captured all smiles with her entourage in New York City.
Wendy kept things sporty chic in a cream printed bomber jacket, with black silk shorts that she layered over fishnet stockings, designed by Mel Maxi. Quintessential of New York’s fashion, she donned a black Yankee’s ball cap, and sported black studded sneakers by Christian Louboutin. In true Wendy fashion, she looked ultra stylish with her black crocodile $80,000 Hermes handbag that delightfully hung off her arm.
Of course fans were happy to see her out and about, and on the go, without her niece Alex Fannie coming to her rescue. On our Fashion Bomb daily Instagram page, @Prettyliilbyrdie shared, “I need her back on her show and speaking on Hot Topics neeoooooow!” while @yup_itsbri commented. “The way they said this lady was on her last leg. They really lied. She looks and sounds good.”
We hope that seeing Wendy in such a great state, is an indicator of what’s to come. We’d love to see her back on the radio or on television and in her element, and if not on those channels, perhaps even Youtube. One thing for sure is that she hasn’t loss her fan base, and if anything, her setback has been a catalyst for more people to rally behind her.
During the 90’s, Brandy and Monica’s hit single “The Boy is Mine“ became a cultural phenomena topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 13-weeks, and now after 26-years, the R&B singers are going on tour together.
This will be their first co-headlining tour together from October to December, and include special performances by Kelly Rowland, Jamal Roberts, and Muni Long. While promoting their upcoming tour on Sirius XM, the ladies mirrored each other in blue denim ensembles.
Monica, who is known for her incredible fashion sense, illuminated in a blue denim Balenciaga look that had white stripes down the sides of her jacket and cargo jeans. She styled her outfit with a black mesh top that showcased her bra, and accessorized with black Balenciaga handbag, and black satin stilettos. Her clear ombre shades, gave us 90’s vibes, creating excitement for what’s to come.
Similarly to Monica, Brandy also opted for a lighter version of denim on denim by Alexander Wang. She kept her jacket fully buttoned up, and her silver metallic pumps were complimentary to her straight leg jeans.
After all these years, it’s great to finally see Brandy and Monica put their differences aside to reunite and use their platform to entertain fans. With such a timeless song like “The Boy is Mine,” attendees will definitely be in for a treat.

Gone are the days when “casual” meant “sloppy.” These days, even your weekend style should have a polished appearance. Fortunately, looking good doesn’t require wearing a three-piece suit or spending hours in front of the mirror. With a few smart pieces, like well-fitted men’s dress shirts paired with comfortable bottoms, you can create relaxed and refined weekend looks for any occasion.
A successful weekend wardrobe starts with quality basics that fit like they should. Instead of traditional men’s dress pants, consider chinos in neutral hues like navy, olive, or khaki. These versatile bottoms pair with just about everything while offering more structure than sweatpants. Quality denim is a solid option, too. Try tailored joggers with a tapered leg and clean lines for a more relaxed but still put-together look. Look to industry professionals like Men’s Wearhouse to learn more about styling chinos as a wardrobe staple.
Pay close attention to the fit—you should have room to move, but your pants shouldn’t sag or bunch excessively. A straight or slightly tapered leg creates a clean silhouette that looks intentional.
2. Upgrade Your Casual Tops
The humble t-shirt has its place, but men’s button-up shirts provide an instant style upgrade without sacrificing comfort. Look for casual button-ups in breathable fabrics like Oxford cloth, chambray, or lightweight flannel that feel relaxed yet refined.
The beauty of these shirts is their versatility. Wear them buttoned with the sleeves rolled up for a polished aesthetic or open over a plain t-shirt for a layered casual look. Stick with solid colors or minimalist patterns that pair easily with multiple bottoms.
3. Master the Art of Layering
Layering adds dimension to any outfit while keeping you comfortable as the temperature fluctuates throughout the day. The trick is keeping it simple and coordinated.
A well-fitted lightweight jacket, cardigan, or blazer can transform dress pants and a casual shirt into something much more thoughtful. Choose pieces in complementary colors that work with multiple items in your wardrobe.
In cooler weather, a Merino wool sweater worn over a button-up with the collar peeking out creates an effortlessly stylish look. Just make sure your layers don’t compete with each other. Stick with complementary colors, and blend varying textures for visual interest.
4. Focus on Footwear
Shoes can make or break a weekend outfit. While sneakers are weekend staples, not all are created equal. When you want to look your best, opt for clean, minimalist styles in leather or suede to elevate—rather than detract from—your outfit.
For a slightly more polished option, consider leather loafers or Chukka boots. These options hit the sweet spot between overly casual athletic shoes and formal dress shoes.
Whatever footwear you choose, keep them clean and in good condition. Nothing undermines a thoughtful outfit faster than scuffed, dirty shoes.
5. Embrace Texture and Fabric
Introducing different textures into your weekend wardrobe adds visual interest without bold patterns or colors. Consider a textured knit sweater, a chambray button-up shirt, or twill pants to create subtle depth in your outfit.
Quality fabrics make a massive difference in how casual clothes look and feel. Natural fibers like cotton, wool, and linen generally look more refined than synthetic materials while offering better breathability and comfort.
6. Nail the Color Coordination
Creating cohesive weekend outfits is simpler when you build around a consistent color palette. But that doesn’t mean everything should be a perfect match. Instead, aim for colors that complement each other.
Start with a foundation of neutrals like navy, gray, olive, beige, and white. These colors work together harmoniously and pair with anything. Once you have your neutral base, introduce subtle pops of color with accessories.

For example, pairing navy pants with a light blue shirt and tan shoes creates a cohesive, pleasing palette that does not appear dull or overly coordinated.
7. Pay Attention to Fit and Proportion
Nothing ruins a weekend look faster than a poor fit. Even the most casual outfits look better when the proportions are right, so making sure your clothes don’t cling or sag is essential.
Modern weekend style leans toward a clean silhouette. Think slim (not skinny) pants, properly fitted shirts with sleeves that hit the right point on your arm, and tops that don’t billow around your midsection.
8. Incorporate Thoughtful Accessories
The right accessories elevate your weekend style without looking like you’re trying too hard. A nice watch, leather belt, or simple bracelet adds a polished touch to even the most casual outfit. Sunglasses, too, can refine a weekend look. Stick with classic styles like wayfarers or aviators in proportions that flatter your face shape.
No matter what accessories you choose, the key here is restraint. Choose one or two that complement your outfit rather than competing with it.
9. Develop a Signature Style Element
A signature style element helps you create a cohesive aesthetic across all your outfits. Yours could be as simple as rolling the sleeves of your button-up shirts in a particular way, consistently wearing a specific type of watch, or favoring a certain collar style. Just make sure it is something you genuinely enjoy wearing or doing. Your signature style element should be authentic—not forced.

10. Invest in Quality
Putting together effortless weekend styles is easier with a few high-quality pieces rather than countless mediocre ones. Invest in well-made bottoms that maintain their shape, shirts with clean stitching, and shoes constructed to last. These pieces cost more initially but require less frequent replacement and always look better than their cheaper counterparts.
Quality basics are also easy to mix and match, allowing you to create several outfits from a relatively small collection of garments—the ultimate goal of effortless weekend style.
Closing Thoughts
Spending your weekends in style doesn’t require an extensive or complicated wardrobe. With these straightforward approaches, you can create a comfortable and refined weekend wardrobe, proving that looking good doesn’t have to be hard work.
