And it’s Monday!!!
Hope you all had great weekends. I continued my birthday celebration way past its prime (in fact I have birthday candles in my pocket now as we speak) and also hit up the Rock the Bells concert on Governor’s Island in NYC with my new homey and Fashion Bombshell Living Fly on a Dime. We had a great time being total fans for Golden Era Hip-Hop greats like Slick Rick, Rakim, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest with special guest Busta Rhymes, and Wu-Tang Clan. Oh and some cool young lady you may have heard of called LAURYN HILL!
Needless to say, we had a blast and enjoyed catching glimpses of celebs like Chris Rock, Nelson George, John Legend, AJ Calloway, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Michael Ealy, Estelle, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, and Swizz Beats who were all in attendance for the grand festival.
Well, let’s just get into then…
Across the pond in England, singer Alexandra Burke was also celebrating her birthday (um, Virgos basically rule—a fact that nine out of ten scientists would agree with). And she is just glowing with everything on point. Love the hair and makeup and her beautiful skin is definitely her best accessory. Hot!
As I mentioned, Beyoncé was in attendance at the Rock the Bells concert and was one of the celeb attendees who Lauryn brought out on the stage. Bey is looking fresh-faced and cute. I will not comment on the hat nor the earrings.
Over in Hollywood, actress Essence Atkins hit up the Entertainment Weekly and Women In Film Pre-Emmy party in a bold red lip. Essence looks pretty but something about her brows seem “too done”.
Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon was also at the EW party looking about ten years younger. Someone got a hold of some glycolic acid and retinols. Love the hair, too. Hot!
Singer Fantasia was celebrating her album release the other day channeling T-Boz circa 1994-ish. I know all too well the pains of being an adult in braces so I have a soft spot right now for the American Idol winner. Her skin and makeup look great from what I can see. Hot!
Actress LisaRaye was also present for Fantasia’s album release looking just as good as she wanna look! Her brows, her eye makeup, her lip color, blush, and hair were rocking. Hot!
Entertainment powerhouse Raven Symone was out for the premiere of Disney feature Tinker Bell And The Great Fairy Rescue. Her makeup looks super pretty and I like her hairstyle. Not sold on the hair color yet though.
Then celebs headed to the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards. Martin wasn’t nominated for anything so I didn’t really pay attention to the entire show. But Kim Kardashian was there of course. And if you’ve ever considered getting your lashes done professionally, print out her pic because this is it! These lashes are gorgeous—and it’s how you do dramatic lashes that don’t make you look like Janice from The Muppets. Plus she’s rocking an all-nude makeup look without looking washed out. Brava, Kimberly.
True Blood star Rutina Wesley killed ‘em on the red carpet with her lovely waves and red lips. Just beautiful. And just look at that skin. Hot!
(As an aside—no shade, no tea—but I googled Miss Rutina just to make sure she’s from True Blood and that I totally didn’t make that up seeing as how I don’t watch the show—but the internet said she was born in 1985. Again, no shade, no tea but I thought she was a woman in her 30s/40s who looked younger)
Wanda Sykes was also out at the Emmys with her wife. Both ladies looked exquisite, but I’m on the red-eye to LA right now to run up on Wanda’s hair. Love it. Hot!
Glee star Amber Riley graced the red carpet. I really like her eye makeup, but wish she would have worn more color on her lips. Such a neutral overall look needs some color!
And stars were also out for Steve Harvey‘s 8th Annual Hoodie Awards celebrating the best in churches, schools, and local businesses right from the community. Toya Carter was there looking way too pretty. Most folks can’t pull off the fantasy lashes, but Toya kills it! The lashes combined with her eye makeup equals too hot!
Wait—are those really fantasy lashes or does she have rhinestones attached to her face–I can’t really tell from the pic. Either way, looking good.
The View host, Sherri Shepherd was also in attendance at the Hoodie’s looking very nice. Not much else to say here…lol
And rounding out both the Hoodie’s as well as our weekend beauty line-up is Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris. She’s basically making me wonder what ever happened to both my Rainbow Brite and my My Little Pony toys from back in the day. Cute lip color though. Love you, Tiny :)
