It has been a whirlwind of presentations, after parties, and post-after parties this week with style ambassadors Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, and Naomie Harris leading the way. On Day 4, front rows were filled with the finest celebs and more while the runways were lined with a new crop of models Poppy Okotcha, Hannah Shakespeare, and Leomie Anderson to name a few. Here’s the scoop from Day 4 of London Fashion Week.
Last Time for Burberry
This season’s presentation would mark the last time Burberry would show under the traditional fashion calendar. Instead, the brand will move to show menswear and womenswear two times a year moving forward and offer see-now, buy-now to the masses in one fell swoop. What Christopher Bailey put forth for Fall 2016 RTW was nothing short of mesmerizing; models channeled David Bowie vibes and glittered with aptly placed stardust on the brow.
Acting Class at Erdem
The 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s were all having a moment at Erdem where chief designer and brand namesake Erdem Moralioglu sought femme fatales like Lauren Bacall and other period actresses to infuse their spirits into delicately designed dresses fit for any audition.
Rain Clouds at Christopher Kane
Bag lady took on a whole new meaning at Christopher Kane‘s Fall 2016 RTW show this Monday. The models actually looked wet and cold as they sauntered the runway in plastic rain caps and snug wool coats.
Afro Chic at Ashish
It was a party at Ashish, but who would expect any less from creative director Ashish Gupta? Soft pinks and apricot hues tinged the oversized afros, tops, spaghetti dresses, nails, and even the heels. A box of crayons was the catalyst for the Fall 2016 RTW collection and Gupta’s mission was accomplished as models sported monochrome party dresses down the runway.
And The Rest…
Antonio Berardi gave his audience smart yet sinister eveningwear and every bit of black you could expect to wear this fall. Serbian designer-led brand Roksanda was equal parts prim and proper with a jewel toned collection, replete of magical and charming ruffled collars. Peter Pilotto opted for intricacy over everything in hand-stitched mandarin-collar coats screaming snow queen and diamond-leaf print dresses that skewed Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland .
