As soon as I walked into Roseland Ballroom, I spied several celebrities peppering the front row, including the elusive Amber Rose, stylist June Ambrose, raven haired Kim Kardashian, and more:
After about half an hour, the show began with a loud blast of music, as brightly colored clothes and a bass driven soundtrack literally shook up the room:
Kimora’s Spring 2010 collection mixed the easy feel of 70’s separates with Moroccan opulence and style. Using a color palette of coral, turquoise, pink, and violet, she showcased laced blouses, draped dresses, sequined separates, and tailored outerwear all with oodles of gold jewelry and embellishments:
The line included skin clinging jewel toned dresses, colorblocked flouncy tops, floor grazing floral maxi dresses, and easy oversized white shirts , predominantly worn with gold accented sandals and oversized tote bags. Artfully combining tie dye, acid wash, and look-at-me patterns, Kimora presented a line made for a cool tween or young adult with a daring sense of their blooming sensuality:
My favorites included ruffled monokinis in navy and exotic print:
And bright sequined skirts that reflected the gold dust on the runway:
Out of all of Kimora’s collections, this one seemed the most wearable. I could see all of these hot items hanging on the racks in Macy’s, awaiting an eager tween or twenty something to scoop them up. From her new husband and baby to her increasingly chic collection, it seems everything for Kimora is on the uptick!
For the final walk, models stomped out to Michael Jackson’s PYT:
After a bit of a wait Kimora appeared with Ming, Aoki, and newborn Kenzo:
I also stopped Teyana Taylor after the event to ask her what she thought:
And chatted it up some more with Sheree:
What do you think of this season of Baby Phat?
