MJB hit the stage at Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash in uber-distressed jeans, black tank, and some major platform sandals. Given that this was mostly a rap concert, Mary’s outfit is both laid-back Hot and appropriate for the queen of Hip-Hop and R&B Soul…
Swinging up north Vuitton’s way, Kim K. and Reggie Bush hit up the Much Music Awards in Toronto in very Will and Jada-like color coordinated-outfits. Kim’s strapless black and white striped number and Louboutin platform heels are fab but not feeling her hair and makeup so much this time around–is it just me or are they sort of washed out and plain? Reggie looks cool as a fan but the white jacket seems one layer too many, and he’d have looked better with just the black shirt on its own. A lukewarm Hot for the usually smokin’ couple.
Halfway across the globe in Johannesburg at the ARISE Africa Fashion Awards, ARISE Designer of the Year Folake Folarin-Coker quietly dazzled in this banded teal frock with a 1930s feel. Although I’d have loved to see her with more dramatic hair and makeup, the dress alone is fantastic, and experiments with bands and folds beyond the usual Herve Leger take on them. Quite hawt!
Also at the ARISE Awards, designer Abama Kai stunts in a drop-waisted, one-shoulder floral number in bold colors. Her side-swept locks, eye-catching, white earrings, and festive clutch complete the ensemble, and despite the brilliant colors and textures, there’s also something simple and elegant about it. Simmering hot…
Finally, celebrity choreographer Fatima Robinson surfaced at Will.I.Am.’s This is London Party rocking a “Grease”-inspired look in ’50s style hip-huggers and puff-sleeve sweater and fire engine red lipstick and nails. Her netted hat, Goyard clutch, and chunky rings lend the outfit an edgy, modern look that keep the ’50s pieces from being too cutesy. Loves it!
