She says, ” I was born in Germany, I am of Nigerian descent, and I reside in Maryland (The DMV area!).”
karin from maryland
“Differing from the norm definitely portrays my style. Wearing what makes me happy is my policy. I don’t follow trends, I set my own.”

2 karin from maryland
” My style is the 21st century avant-garde movement! I’m definitely pushing the boundaries of what is accepted and expected!”

3 karin from maryland
“… Growing up I never could comprehend why people always had something negative to say about my [vision]. It’s evident that people misconstrue anything that differs from the norm.”

4 karin from maryland
” Now, I’m so used to people saying things like “WOW… only you could pull this off!” When I first started hearing it, I pondered to myself “am I really wearing something unusual?” I honestly saw a vision this morning and made it reality.”

6 karin from maryland
” My reality to some seems to be very peculiar, and to others, daring. But in my opinion, it’s simply a reflection of me.”

7 karin from maryland
” Whether it’s my clothes, accessories, or my sweet crush, a unique pair of SHOES, I put it together and make it my own…TANTALIZING!”

8 karin from maryland
” Individual style should be a reflection of you….Embracing me! :)”

9 karin from maryland
” I have a passion for fashion, a love affair with vintage, and an unbreakable bond with my love my new clothing line, Uniquely Atypical by Karin.”

  1. Southern says:

A lot of talk. Who are you trying to convince?

  2. tahlyuh says:

There are some AMAZING individual pieces, but this outfits are doing so much. Between the colors, the nails, the weaves, the everything…I’m overwhelmed. I’m so overwhelmed.

    Beautiful girl, however.

  3. Anonymous says:

Honestly my initial reaction was yuck.. n feel bad about that. She is beautiful girl but style not my taste

  4. k says:

Actually in today’s fashion climate, she is no longer “uniquely atypical” but I definitely see her style which is in one word “quirky”. The hair leaves much to be desired. You could tighten up your hair game but other than that nice pieces for the look she’s going for.

  5. Anonymous says:

Good gosh. The second outfit killed it entirely for me (not in a good way). I mean the entire collection was a mess (sorry), but that second outfit? Wowzer. She has similar shaped legs as me; that length skirt, with those high tops are a NO for us.

  6. yuck again says:

Yeah I think it was that 2nd outfit that got me (in a bad way) too. The shoes NOOOOOO ! the skirt, the way its worn NOOOOOO! IT JUST LOOKS AWFUL

  7. Goldeelocks says:

For some reason. I feeling it! The prints worked for her. I appreciate her being confident and really going for it. Kudos to her!

  8. Anonymous says:

The description came off as pretentious, but I like some of the individual pieces.

  9. Brittany says:

Oh honey, no. There is nothing redeemable in any of these outfits.

  10. Meika says:

I agree with @Southern who’s she trying to convince… The one word that came to mind was #Tacky but to each it’s own.

  11. Omgeezy!!! says:

Giuseppe, Fendi shoes I spy!! the African Prints are nice but the hair is a big fat NO MAAM!! I actually like the curly, but well…..the style needs polishing! shes really pretty and I like her pops of color.

  12. Melrause says:

    Bye bye Nicole!!

  13. 2 cents says:

I don’t get it, what’s wrong with her hair?

  14. Classic says:

Im from Maryland the DMV area to be exact and this is making cringe and ask why?!?!?

  15. KayGee Rox says:

    Blood of Jesus!!!! I’m speechless…

  16. hmm... says:

The sheer insanity of this post has rendered me speechless…MAY GOD HELP US FORGET WHAT WE’VE SEEN HERE! SMDH!

  17. simplyjess says:

I’m from the “DMV” and all I can say is WTF!! We don’t dress like THAT around these parts!

  18. Jess says:

Ummm…she has a very nice shape.

  19. Wow. This is really… bad. Wow.

  20. Debs says:

I very much like the couch in the second picture!

  21. Lois says:

    @Kay gee….Lmao

  22. Nadege says:

    Blue shoes are cute!

  23. SonyLoren says:

How did this mess even get considered?!!! You’re having a laugh, right?

  24. Candace says:

  25. Lina says:

    Build-A-Bear Workshop

  26. Candace says:

Love those purple/blue heels and the ripped stone-washed jeans.

  27. Cynthia says:

    That hair! I can’t!

  28. Beteley J. says:

Ummm… have you guys ever been to the DMV area and just hung out…I’m not shocked or surprised at anything that she’s has on…not to generalize but we’ve got a lot of African women here that dress similar and sport moisture thirsty weaves(just saying)…

  29. Afrostyling says:

Oh hell no @ Betely J!! Do not put this atrocity on African women. This is her personal style. Abeg o!!

  30. LaLa says:

What the heck? This makes me question Fashion Bomb’s credibility of what’s fashion and what’s the norm. Is this really noteworthy?

  32. Bb says:

    Wow. Just wow.

  33. Steph says:

Bad hair, bad makeup, the clothes left me speechless and not in a good way. Nothing wrong with a quirky or “different” sort of style as long as it’s put together well. Hideous mess.

  34. KITANA says:

Shoe game to die for. Sick body, but babeh that hair. Your African inspired pieces were gorgeous and the best of your looks so far.

    @Betely J

Im Black American and feel that my African sisters have been some our best bombs, so her being African has nothing to do with it…

  35. candi says:

First LOL @Debs comment about the couch
2nd,….oh we’re not going to mention anything about the no point demin LV bag tha keeps make a random appearance like it’s where’ waldo..

  36. ilike2smize says:

    One word: T R A G I C

  37. justme says:

You have an AMAZING smile! Come from behind those huge weaves

  38. Uniquely Atypical says:

Thank you for the love Fashion Bomb Daily and Claire Sulmers!

  39. Anonymous says:

Beautiful girl, smile and body amazing! Hair wise the African print tops with the shoulder detailing should have been an up do or back off her face. She needs a sleek hair style that won’t over power the clothes. I actually like the 2nd pic. Now, those striped shoes with the red trim seem to take away rather than compliment. But I don’t like the mean comments that are always made. These women read this stuff and it’s hurtful I’m sure. Oh And there was nothing wrong with her makeup!!

  40. Rhonnie says:

I love it! she is a BOMBSHELL because she rocks the hell out of those outfits and she wears them confidence ! Good for you and keep on being beautiful!

  41. C.C says:

Amazing! Beautiful women and her clothes are to die for! I love her looks!

  42. Thank you all! I appreciate it!

Thanks Rhonnie. Check out my IG @uniquelyatypical

  43. Grace says:

I literally had a visceral reaction to that awful hair. It looks like it itches. As for the clothes, I won’t go there….

  44. QQQ says:

Trashy and clown like. Really sorry to say.

  45. Anonymous says:

I like her shoes. That is all

  46. The designes are orginal, unique & c inspired. I LOVE the whole collection! says:

The designes are orginal, unique & culturally inspired. I LOVE the whole collection!

  47. FLEE says:

    NAH! this is too much

  48. SHARONGEE says:

  49. Minnesota says:

How the heck did 14% say she was a FASHION bombshell? I’m confused.
