Throwback Thursdays #TBT: The Style Evolution of Remy Ma

Hailing all the way from the Boogey Down Bronx, this week’s throwback has been spittin’ fire on the mic since the early 2000’s.  Star of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop New York, winner of two Vibe Awards, a BET Award, two Grammy nominations since her release from prison, Remy Ma shows no signs of stopping despite experiencing a major setback.  She hit the ground running, and now she’s all the way up.  Of course, with all the attention she’s been receiving, it’s only right for Remy to serve looks that turn heads.

When she first burst into popularity on the hip-hop scene, Remy’s look didn’t traverse too far beyond the spectrum of a jacket and some fitted jeans.  Though, on occasion, she did rock a slinky dress here and there.  Blond bangs and bamboo doorknockers eventually became her trademark, giving the world a taste of how girls from the Bronx bring the flavor.

Many thought she wouldn’t have been able to bounce back, but after serving time and reconnecting with long-time friend Fat Joe since her release, Remy’s never looked better.  Her style has transcended, thanks to stylist Lazell Shaw, trading in more casual looks for curve-hugging designer dresses and sickening stilettos. She’s a sucker for all things Givenchy, DSquared2, Jennifer Le and Sophia Webster, just to name a few.  It’s as if she’s found the perfect balance between demure and bossy with her style.   Despite the stardom and the insane amount of attention her recent diss track toward Nicki Minaj, “ShEther”, has gotten her, it seems she’s still the same girl from the Bronx we loved from the very beginning, still rocking her sneakers, jeans and bamboo doorknockers every now and again.

Swag on hunna!
