“I was inspired by the bohemian style of Solange Knowles mixed with the femme fatale vibes of the 1940s,” said Wallace of Skai’s gorgeous ‘do.
Here’s how you can get the look:
1. While damp, two-strand twist you hair using a curling butter such as Dark and Lovely’s Au Naturale Anti-Shinkage Easy Twist Gel N’ Butter ($9).
2. Dry your hair either over night or using a hooded dryer. Once dry, coat your hands with a little oil such as Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Moisture L.O.C. Soak It Up Oil Cocktail ($10) to take down and unravel your twists.
3.Comb the twists out using a wide tooth comb. This way you are elongating the hair without completely disrupting the curls and adding in more texture.
4.Next, part your hair on your most flattering side. For added volume, feel free to include a couple of extensions in a textured curl pattern.
5.For more curl definition, take small sections and curl using a 1/2 inch barrel iron.
6. After defining the waves, take a small paddle brush—such as a Mason Pearson ($205)— and brush out the waves to create a soft airy texture.
7.Finish with a sheen spray such as Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage Sheen Sealing Nectar ($10).
