So Colgate Optic White High Impact White Toothpaste was named as one of Essence’s 2016 Best in Black Beauty Products!
As a member of the Optic White Designer Smile Squad, I celebrated their award yesterday with Jazmine Sullivan and Elle Varner, along with Essence Magazine editors and members of the Colgate team.
The festivities kicked off with a reception at Hotel Americano, where guests sampled hors d’oeuvres and mixed drinks, and indulged in a beauty chat with Essence Magazine’s Pamela Edwards Christiani, Jazmine Sullivan, and Elle Varner.
After a dedicating a moment of silence to Prince, the panelists spoke about embracing their individuality. Jazmine is a strong advocate of body acceptance and body diversity, and is proud to represent curvy women in the entertainment industry.
Elle took a note from Prince, and lauded his ability to be himself regardless of outside influences. Inspired by his career, she plans to step out with a new distinctive sound, full of her signature soul.
After the reception, we made our way over to the official Essence Best in Black Beauty event.
The evening had a circus theme, so guests were treated to cotton candy, popcorn, and juggling acts. I popped by the Colgate Optic White Smile Booth to cheese it up!
I said hey girl to my blogger buddy Karen from Where did U Get That…
Then I had to scoot on home. My feet were burning! The quest for comfortable heels begins in earnest again…
For the night, I wore a look from Cushnie et Ochs, and Christian Louboutin So Kate Pumps.
Fun time were had all around…and of course I’m always juiced to discover that a lot of starlets we covers are fans of FBD!
We’re huge supporters of Jazmine and Elle; we’re all about continuing to highlight that Black Girl Magic!

Until then, what do you think?
