Show Review: Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2015

Antonio Berardi embarked on his very own distinct variation of menswear-inspired attire for Pre-Fall, giving traditionally masculine silhouettes an extravagant and supremely feminine spin. The color palette ranged from icy grays to fiery reds — seamlessly folding into a modern day woman’s wardrobe whether she has a penchant for work or play.

Tailoring was a focus including a plaid vest and trouser combination that would make its wearer best dressed in the office by a landslide, a long-sleeve tuxedo dress with dot-print insets and front flap pockets in a Prince Wales check, a cap-sleeve tie-waist jacket and pant duo, and a mini skirt suit that would certainly have caught the eye of Ally McBeal in her heyday.

Fabrication and adornment were blended together effortlessly like a voluminous sleeve top and skirt in the aforementioned Prince Wales Check encrusted with diamond patterned embellishment, another variation of the classic tuxedo dress with the same allover decoration, and a glossy quilted tuxedo jacket and blouse interlaced with Lurex in an impossible to miss cherry red hue. Black leather pointed-toe ankle boots anchored the ensembles with a structured, modern flair.

Fans of the brand including Gwen Stefani, Sarah-Jane Crawford, and Jessica Alba and those stylish ladies will undoubtedly fall in love with an embellished black gown with a dramatic cape back, as well as a white number with a v-neck and gathered waistband. With award show season just around the corner and more and more red carpet affairs popping up each season, we can expect to see some of these designs on a fashionable celeb in just a few months.

The collection was a formidable and beautiful one — not prescribing too much to trends (as Berardi consistently steers clears of), but landing itself in enough of a functional and wearable space that the pieces were not intimidating, yet will still make their wearers stand out among a crowd.
