This past Saturday, the Fashion Bomb team was in the house for Rush Philanthropic’s 17th Annual Art for Life Gala. The event, which honored Buzzfeed CMO/CCO Frank Cooper, BET CEO Debra Lee, De Passe Jones Entertainment’s Suzanne de Passe, Bad Boy President James Cruz, Journalist Soledad O’Brien, Thorney Investment Group Founder & Chairman Alex Waislitz, and Star Jones had a Back to the Future theme, which required guests to wear black, purple, or silver with futuristic accents.
Pierre and I were on the scene to capture street style.
Take a look:
Qui Style’s Mangue Banzima was in the house with wife Isolde Brielmaier, who offered an artistic take on futuristic in a dress by Angelo Bulek.
Cofounder and COO of Ceiling Breakers LLC Michelle Gadsden-Williams and CEO of Ceiling Breakers LLC husband David Jamal Williams were in attendance! Michelle looked lovely in a black jumpsuit with Chanel accessories, while David exuded Hamptons cool in blue tones.
Erika Liles also went for a Hamptons chic vibe in a Dolce & Gabbana lemon printed ensemble.
There were lots of sequins in the room! This young lady offered her take on Celestial Accents in a vintage star printed dress.
The ever gorgeous model Flaviana Matata sparkled in a strapless purple cocktail by Sherri Hill.
Executive Erika Munro got the theme all the way right in an embellished ASOS dress and Christian Louboutin shoes. She’s one of New York’s best dressed. Follow her at @MzHauteHunter.
@Ajvni added silver accents to a Topshop dress, and slipped on furry heels. Super creative and on theme. Yes!
Fabulous Fashion Stylist Kanayo Ebi punched up a slip dress with a Varsity Jacket and DSquared2 Heels.
There was lots of men’s style on tap! Craig Fletcher looked fetching in Etro.
DJ Cassidy put his own twist on seersucker.
Brian Keith Jackson slipped on a creation of his design.
Media personality Micah Jesse mixed prints like a pro.
And this gentleman kept things rosy in a rose printed Vivienne Westwood suit.
Back inside, the gorgeous Hatchett sisters Kim and Karen rocked lace up and embellished pieces.
And Jessica White worked a skater inspired dress by Elie Youssef.
Angela Simmons is wearing her pregnancy very well! She showed off her bump in an ensemble by 5:31 Jerome and shoes by Ade Samuel.
I grabbed a pic with Angie! I went for silver and celestial in sequined pants by Shades of Shea, uplifted by a Tibi top.
I also said cheese with 135th Street Agency guru Shanté Bacon.
And of course grabbed a picture with Russell Simmons during dinner.
Over on the red carpet…
BET’s Debra Lee worked a black and white sheath and jazzy earrings.
Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation’s Executive Director Tangie Murray looked bomb in a blue Herve Leger Ardell Ombre Bandage Dress.
Honoree Star Jones brought her cute pooch along for the ride.
The night’s MC, Gayle King, sizzled in metallic silver.
Author Crystal McCrary worked black and white.
Russell Simmons added a color blocked bowtie to a tailored suit.
And Danny Simmons looked dapper in a colorful printed two piece. I love it!
And I got on the carpet;) Shades of Shea was kind enough to make me a pair of futuristic pants, which I offset with silver accents.
After grabbing pix, we sat down to enjoy the night, which included several speeches and a performance by Tyrese!
It was a great time for a great cause, and you can still lend your support! Visit ArtforLife.RushPhilanthropic.org for details.
What do you think? And who offered the best interpretation of the Back to the Future theme?
