So Fashion Week definitely started off with a bang (and not a whisper) as editors, photographers, and all of the fashion elite headed to The Arc off West 33rd Street to catch one of the first shows of the season, BCBG. Needless to say, I was extremely excited when I touched down in New York and was ready to hit the ground running for the first show for my first ever Fashion Week! Then after about 5 minutes of standing outside in the cold weather that has taken over the city, my face turned into this.Nonetheless, it was game time when we walked into the door. Truly an awesome event, BCBG started off with lots of street photographers snapping photos, Press check-ins and finding seats. Thankfully everyone huddled in quickly and I was able to find my seat amidst other bloggers and press! My view was pretty amazing, but the swarms of photographers over the celebrities were a lot to handle! Trust me when they say a show during NYFW never starts on time (I don’t think the show started for another half hour after it was slated for). But nobody seemed to mind the waiting: People were too busy taking selfies of themselves…or photos of who they thought someone else was.The show was definitely centered around the idea of an ‘artistic’ muse; whimsical yet very intentional with her style of dress. As someone who loves color and shimmer, I enjoyed looking down the runway and backstage at the latest collection’s signature looks, clad in rich colors, textures, palettes and material.
The real fun began after the show when the lights came fully up and I got to see who was sitting front row! With all those Hollywood Starlets and Starlettos in the same building as me, you KNOW I had to grab a selfie with someone!Although a bit blurry, you can clearly see I was all grins when I caught my selfie with Mr. Jay Manuel himself, who was quickly heading out the door to catch a flight to Toronto! He had on a Dsquared2 blue shirt, Paul Smith patchwork suit, and that stunner olive green Gucci coat. Hot!Before I popped out, I saw June Ambrose cracking jokes with some friends of hers, so I hopped on the opportunity for a chance to speak! We grabbed a quick shot, and she was decked out in a Helem Yarmak fox coat, Azzedine Alaia heels, Faith Connexion blouse, and of course, a Chanel bag with a Fendi keychain. Ya’ll know she looked good!
The Azria’s caught a pretty epic #Squad pose with some of the models after the curtains closed, celebrating what definitely was a job well done on the collection and show!As for me, I hung out in the waiting area where amongst champagne, security and a ton of photographers, I got to grab some amazingly dressed people and talk to them about their thoughts of the show, what they’re favorite thing about BCBG is, why they love FashionBombDaily so much, you know…the usual.
All in all, I have to say it was a pretty successful First Day of Fashion Week. Aside from the temperatures, I didn’t get trampled, suffer from too much celebrity-spotlighting, and got to see an amazing collection I am bound to save some coins for! Make sure you stay tuned here on FashionBombDaily as I shell out my day-to-day recaps on all you need to know about Fashion Week. Off to my next event!
