For their 50th anniversary issue, Cosmpolitan Magazine tapped the six Jenner/Kardashian women as their cover stars. While it’s a beautiful family photo featuring Khloe, Kourtney, Kim, Kris, Kylie, and Kendall in crisp white shirts, the cover line dubbing the clan, “America’s First Family” has brought the magazine under considerable fire.
Hello!
While Cosmo is no doubt hoping to sell issues, dubbing the Kardashian/Jenners “America’s First Family,” particularly at a time when the actual first family of the United States happens to be the first-ever black first family, seems woefully disrespectful.
Twitter, of course, has been absolutely obliterating @Cosmopolitan’s mentions.
As par the course, the magazine has yet to release a statement. But we’re expecting there will be something Monday morning.
Egregious click bait aside, we thought it’d behoove the glossy to do a quick fact check. America’s First family?

This is also why your editorial staff cannot be full of white girls. Or that one Black person who is afraid of losing her job.

What do you think? Was this too far? Or are people being overly sensitive?
