Happy day before Fashion Week!
Yesterday, I was honored to join fashion icon Iman for her talk at the 92nd Street Y with Fern Mallis!
The Somali model was discovered by Peter Beard while a political science student at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She moved to New York with little knowledge of the fashion industry, but became a muse to Yves Saint Laurent, and walked the runways of Versace, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and more (read about her story in Vintage Visions). In addition to her beauty, she’s brilliant (she speaks five languages), and a serious business woman: her makeup line, Iman Cosmetics, is a $25 million beauty empire, and her collection on HSN is its 2nd best seller! She’s the Bomb!
For the night, she offset a droolworthy plum ensemble with a bright red Balmain gold button blazer. I was so in love with the blazer, that she let me try it on!
How did it look?
There were other fabulous fashion icons in attendance, including June Ambrose and Jay Manuel.
Robert Verdi and McKenzie Liautaud.
Along with W Magazine’s Edward Enninful and model Alexis Primous. Alexis the winner of W Magazine’s model search. Isn’t she gorgeous?
For the night, I wore a Balenciaga t-shirt, Michael Kors sequined joggers, and Prada sandals.
Today is absolutely crazy! I’m trying to get last minute things squared away before Day 1 of New York Fashion Week! Stay tuned!
We hope to bring you loads of original content. Stay locked in here (Oh and we’re getting a redesign tomorrow! Hope you like it!).
Smootches!
