Actress Zoe Saldana was papped at the 2015 Spike TV Guys Choice Awards in an emerald jacquard dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Her look also features black strappy sandals and a bold lip.
The eye-catching piece also flaunts black leather detailing, a high neck and long sleeves.
This is a ‘hmmm‘ for me. But, she’s still beautiful nonetheless.
Alexander Wang has been at the creative helm of Balenciaga for over two years now and it’s clear that he has no trouble managing two brands with very different and distinct aesthetics. While his eponymous label was grounded in street sensibility, athletic-inspired gear, a bit of that quintessential New York City grit, and a quite somber palette for Resort, Balenciaga put a modern and functional spin on the iconic French fashion house’s couture pieces for designs that were unclouded, delicate, and all-around charming.
Peplum is showing no signs of waning and it was shown here on elegant jackets with safety pin closures, a simple white sleeveless top paired with floral printed and embroidered trousers, and a fancier embellished piece that gave flair to a pared-down black midi skirt.
The collection’s Couture leanings were present in boned bodices, nipped-in waists, and unusual detailing. A strapless, textured LBD was polished and simple enough for a film photocall, while a long-sleeve stripe coat and short duo could be worn together for an effortlessly chic look, or apart making a great case for separates.
Skin was in with cutout detailing accenting form-fitting dresses with curve-skimming seaming, swimwear that looked too prim and polished for an actual dip in the ocean, and a sheer lace skirt that would’ve left virtually nothing to the imagination if not for a Fall-perfect double-breasted coat.
No print seems more appropriate for the season than florals and they were done in a few ways here on a quite conservative frock with an edgy mesh middle, sultry pencil skirt with a thigh-high slit and stripe trim, and a strapless draped bustier top that could easily be paired with the collection’s calf-length skirt or a pair of high waist skinnies. A logo print pencil skirt was also a bit kitschy for the iconic fashion house, but definitely has social media and street style appeal, which we know brands actually take into consideration these days.
What do you think of Balenciaga’s Resort collection?
Now that relations between the United States and Cuba have improved and American tourists are allowed to fly directly to the country, the warm-weather destination has been on the minds and lips of many. This was the case for the Proenza Schouler guys as they used Cuba as inspiration for their Resort 2016 collection: a particularly poignant and important influence as one half of the duo, Lazaro Hernandez, is Cuban-American with parents who emigrated from the country in their teenage years.
Hernandez always had a desire to know the country of his roots and the land his parents had left so long ago. As one might imagine, the trip aroused a wealth of emotions, the most moving of them being the imagination and vision for their Resort assortment.
The duo avoided all artifice and posturing and went straight for functionality. Clever and eye-catching detailing was on high including crisscross straps, tweed fringe, oversized buttons, and more.
Ruffles are a cornerstone of traditional Cuban garb and those were present on cap-sleeve dresses with handkerchief hems, frocks with plunging necklines, and a high-neck crop top and high-waist skirt combination.
Pops of color came through with tropical prints on slit-accented frocks and the brand’s signature Lunch Bag clutch.
Hernandez and McCullough pulled the edgy grommet detailing from their Fall collection into this assortment, covering red carpet-ready frocks, a zip-front jacket and ruffle skirt pairing, a knee-length coat, and leather shoulder bag in the embellishment.

The Tony Awards are going down in NYC soon and stars are hitting the red carpet from our favorite supermodels to stellar Broadway stars.
Let’s see what they wore!
Jennifer Lopez slipped on a strapless blue number with gold embellishment. She does this all so effortlessly.
Joan Smalls went glam in a printed asymmetric neckline gown with long sleeves and a thigh-high slit. She’s always fabulous.
Misty Copeland looked regal in a white embellished Hervé Léger bandage gown.
Queen Mother Phylicia Rashad served curves and metallic in a blue glossy long coat and strapless matching gown. Take notes kids!
The Public School guys dressed Grace Mahary for the evening in a button-front LBD. Not quite the glamour I was hoping for, but they’re certainly a good looking trio!
Kendall Jenner was pretty in pink in a long-sleeve Calvin Klein dress in the rosy hue. A bit simple for the red carpet, but pretty nonetheless. Strange that the supermodels thus far aren’t taking the chance to go all-out with their looks.
Bella Hadid was a vision in a two-tone white and black strapless Prabal Gurung gown. Isn’t she gorgeous?
Dule Hill represented for the fellas in an expertly-tailored blue suit with contrast lapels.
A navy crisscross Marc Jacobs halter dress with a cutout bodice and large stud embellishment was Emily Ratajkowski’s choice for the evening. Hot!
Nick Jonas kept it classic in a black tux.
Taye Diggs gave a slight spin on the timeless black tuxedo with a grey bow tie.
Exquisitely constructed in seamed black leather, this sleek dress is made bold with a plunging sweetheart neckline, leather straps, and mesh accents. The bodice is shaped by bust darts, while cotton panels at the bottom and back, along with a hidden zipper closure, ensure a smooth, sculpted fit.
Alright, I see you, KLS! Starting to have more and more of a presence at red carpet events.
