We’re back with another installment of Get the Beauty Look! As we all know, Ciara and Russell Williams tied the knot on Wednesday, July 6th. The star-studded wedding featured tons of great fashion and even better beauty looks.
This week’s Get the Beauty Look is based on singer and actress extraordinaire, Jennifer Hudson. At the wedding, she debuted a bold, vintage-inspired beat. The fuchsia cheeks, winged eye and bright purple lipstick makes for a very fun tutorial.
Big thanks to Atlanta-based beauty blogger and makeup artist Kluermoi for giving us a step by step rundown on how to recreate Jennifer Hudson’s look. Shall we begin?
Foundation:
- Prime skin using Benefit Pore Professional Primer or whatever face primer works best for you.
- Apply Nars All Day Luminous Foundation with your fingers, yup with your fingers! This will warm up the foundation onto your skin for a fresh and natural look.
Highlight & Contour:
- Highlight using your favorite concealer, preferably a concealer that’s a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. I like to use Kitoko Full Coverage Concealer in Dark.
- Contour using a powder or a cream at least two or three shades darker than your skin tone. I used Stilla Cream Contour Kit in Deep (Blend, highlight and contour, using a damp Real technique beauty sponge).
- Anytime you apply a cream or a liquid product to you face, you should set it and or bake it. I pressed a mineralized powder from Mac Cosmetics in medium tan on my highlighted areas then I baked with Sasha Cosmetics Buttercup Setting Powder. On my contoured areas I lightly set it with Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Powder in Fawn. Highlighting and contouring will bring light and warmth into your skin just like Jennifer Hudson.
Brows:
- Use a pencil with a small precise tip to draw hair likes strokes to your brows, I used Mac Cosmetics Mechanical Eyebrow Pencil in stud and highlighted under my eyebrows using the Kitoko concealer (same concealer I used to highlight with). This will really give under your brow a clean “Just got my brows threaded” look.
Eyes:
- Prime your eyelids with a primer. I used Urban Decay’s Original Primer Potion to make sure that my eye shadow stays on all day long.
- Apply your eye shadows. I used Fudge eye shadow from Anastasia Beverly Hills in my crease and Blanc eye shadow on my lid.
- Use Mac Cosmetics Liquid Last Eyeliner for a dramatic winged eye.
- Line your water line with a black retractable eyeliner from L.A girl and blended it out with Fudge eye shadow from Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Lips:
- I mixed two Liquid lipsticks; Madison from Anastasia Beverly Hills and Liam from Lena Lashes. Together they made magic. I also added a tiny bit of gloss to my bottom lip.
Finishing up:
I used Mac Cosmetics Blush in Full Fuchsia. & Lorac Tantalizer box for my glow. Lastly, don’t forget your setting spray! I like to use Spritz 2 fix from Absolute New York.
