The ever stylish Solange Knowles hosted an exclusive opening party for the House of Peroni during New York’s bustling Fashion Week. For the occasion, the beauty donned a Prabal Gurung Fall 2016 Red Silk Chiffon and Crepe De Chine High Collar Blouse with matching Waistband Button Detail Trousers:
Her Fall ready ensemble was modeled on the runway paired with black pumps.
Her chic silk chiffon and crepe de chine blouse features a high collar with ruffled long sleeves.
Matching trousers make a fine statement with stand out button details.
Actress Naturi Naughton looked sleek in a $886 Self Portrait Black Balloon Sleeve Jumpsuit at the Harlem Fashion Row Awards Ceremony:
The high waisted, fitted trousers, has balloon sleeves and a lace panel overlay detail in the front and back. The hem of the sleeves and neckline are finished with a floral scallop trim. The front features mesh inserts and is fastened with an exposed zip on the back for a clean finish.
Naturi’s blunt bob added a little flavor to her look. Love it!
Another day, another fashionable fete! Supermodels, gold-medal winning athletes, Tinseltown’s finest, and more were in attendance. As for what was on display in the style department? Lace, cutouts, curve-hugging silhouettes, and expertly-tailored suits.
Check out the evening’s ensembles below:
Jourdan Dunn looked every bit the supermodel in a black strapless, double tiered Jonathan Simkhai number. Gorgeous.
Hannah Bronfman sizzled in a black cutout Zac Posen gown. Hot!
Russell Westbrook and wife Nina were the epitome of elegance—with the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard in Tom Ford and Mrs. Westbrook in a $1,990 V-Neck Cap Sleeve Sheath from the brand. He always has so much fun with fashion, but I want to see more of her out and about!
TK Wonder showed off her mile-long stems in a Nasty Gal white lace bodysuit and a $77 ASOS Patent Leather Faux Fur Pocket Mini Skirt, while Cipriana Quann was a breath of fresh Summer air in a floral Adam Selman gown. They never disappoint.
Loving star Ruth Negga was pretty in pink, clad in a long-sleeve velvet Valentino gown for the occasion. She’s perfect!
Eva Chen was gilded in a gold and black Adam Lippes dress with a thigh-high slit. This was fab. Though she always is, isn’t she?
A black and white fringe number with threaded detailing revealing some flashes of skin was Olivia Palermo’s choice for the evening. She’s always flawless.
The iconic Italian fashion house was also on the menu for Sienna Miller, who was a vision in a white lace and pleated number for the event.
Rooney Mara loves all-black and Givenchy, thus it was no surprise that her look combined both. I liked this!
Liliana Vasquez was chic in black and white. Her white playsuit felt a bit casual for the occasion…but it’s a look I would totally wear for a night out!
Stylist Kate Foley and husband Max Osterweis of Suno were quite the gorgeous pair.
Lewis Hamilton uplifted a pared-down black ‘fit with a printed jacket.
Katie Holmes was the belle of the ball in an embellished tulle Valentino confection. Pretty, no?
Before hitting the stage at the event, Ellie Goulding took to the red carpet in a fanciful LBD.
Graduating from the CFDA’s Incubator Program has seriously taken Nomia’s designs up more than a few notches. Yara Flinn’s collection for Spring 2017 demonstrates that: brimming with punchy colors and the kind of varied fabrications that she began exploring in Resort.
The brand goes full-throttle with knits—from a mockneck sweater with cutout detailing and elbow sleeves to a midi dress with the same aforementioned detail in a curve-hugging silhouette. When paired with high-waist pencil skirts with thigh-high slits and PVC-strap mules, the looks were modern, fresh, and most importantly functional.
Separates upped the wearability factor even further with halter tops boasting the same threaded drawstring accents of a classic bucket bag at the neckline, roomy trousers accented by edgy zipper detailing, v-neck shells with gathered detailing for both work and play, and an ankle-grazing navy coat that will live in any modern day woman’s wardrobe for years to come.
Dresses were easy and breezy with split necks, rounded hems, button fronts, and elasticated waists which will work for a range of sizes and shapes.
Naturally, my eyes were on the jumpsuits. They were plentiful with crisscross necklines, cropped lengths, and zip fronts. They were mostly sleeveless, which created the canvas for loads of layering.
This collection was so many things: accessible, crisp, current, classic. The designs could adapt to so many women’s style proclivities. And with contemporary price points that top out at around $800 for a coat, I’m certain that Nomia will gain many more fans once this assortment hits stores and online.
Miss USA 2016 DeShauna Barber kicked off New York Fashion Week at the Patricia Field fashion show while uplifting a Karigam Spring 2016 black and white cracked print blazer, matching cigarette pants, a structured teal clutch and Monika Chiang footwear.
While the eye-catching twosie isn’t available for purchase just yet, the brand is set to launch their online shop soon! FYI: Karigram specializes in creating pieces for the modern minimalist who isn’t afraid of asymmetric hems, neutrals or tailored cuts. See more of their designs here or follow them on Instagram @Karigam_Official.
DeShauna looks amazing! Printed suits are all the rage right now so she’s definitely on-trend. The black and white color palette adds a double dose of lux sophistication while the “cracked” print injects a bit of edge. Slay!
We’re back with more bombshell’s and today’s beauty is Yvonne from Kenya!
Yvonne wrote, “My style is to inspire young black curvy girls who don’t have to be ashamed of their size. Instead they should flaunt it because we were wonderfully and fearfully created.”
“I‘d definitely say that the best way to describe my personal style is versatile. You’d catch me in a bohemian look, a sexy look, vibrant, sporty, preppy etc. I do not like conforming to a specific style because I’m always open to stepping out of my comfort zone and switching my looks”
“However out of all the styles, I fall mostly under the exotic kinda lad i.e. An exotic fashion is all about wearing something nobody has ever seen before.”
The curvy cutie loves to play with bold prints, bright colors, and big hair! “Style is a way of instilling your identity and personality to people without saying a word. Having said that, my style is a simple reflection of who I am.”

Tom Ford always brings the stars out! And they were definitely shining, shimmering, and sparkling at his Fall fashion show and dinner.
Let’s see what the celebs wore, shall we?
Lala Anthony was a vision in a white, one-shoulder gown. Husband Carmelo Anthony looked positively dapper in a three-piece suit.
Rita Ora shimmered and sparkled in a curve-hugging, sequin number from the brand. Work Rita!
Naomi Campbell showed us all why she’s Queen in a long-sleeve illusion gown with multicolor sequin embellishment.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz were one of the night’s best dressed couples—as they always are in all honesty! They were both suited up and fly for the show.
Iman was Fall-perfect in a blue velvet suit. Stunning, as always.
June Ambrose wore her sexiest look ever, in a black lace-detailed jumpsuit. She’s never looked better!
A black double-breasted suit and turtleneck were Zayn’s choices for the night. He’s a beautiful man.
Carine Roitfeld uplifted a simple, all-black fit with a grommet-accented jacket and platform sandals. I live for Fashion Month each season, mainly to see her!
Ford muse Julianne Moore was simple and chic in a black column gown. Hot!
Anna Wintour does what she wants because she’s poppin’! She slipped on a multicolor Chanel dress for the occasion.
Cindy Crawford looked every bit the model in all-white, alongside husband Randy Gerber.
Another Rita and Tom were in attendance—Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks that is. The legendary couple don’t show up and show out for many fashion shows, but they looked elegant for the occasion.
Renee Zellweger attended the Berlin Premiere of her latest movie, Bridge Jones’s Baby, while outfitted in a Monse Fall 2016 Black Asymmetric One Shoulder Puff Sleeve Side Slit Dress:
During the brand’s Fall 2016 presentation, her statement frock was paired with open-toe ankle wrap sandals. An exaggerated singular puff sleeve evens out the ruching with side bow and slit on the opposing side.
She rocked the look effortlessly. What do you think?
Happy Thursday (and happy first day of New York Fashion Week, wooooo!).
As you know, a few weeks ago, I was blessed to interview Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage about her music, style, and more. See the video below:
She wants to be remembered as a global artist. She says, “I don’t want to be remembered as one of the biggest female artists out of Africa, I just want to be remembered as one of the biggest artists period. [I want to be known as] one of the people that was part of the revolution that happened with Afro music to the world. I also want to be remembered as a very strong woman and someone who inspired a lot of people that regardless of the challenges we go through as women, you can still achieve a lot. It’s a long road and it’s a slow race. It definitely is about pacing yourself and never ever giving up.”
Love it!
