Rihanna’s style is effortless. She can make even the most simple look stunning by way of her extreme confidence and undeniable swag. Frequent collaborator Adam Selman creates clothes for her and his latest Spring 2017 collection seemed designed for women like her: The ones who can rock a lingerie inspired dress with a glass of wine and furry slippers and still cause onlookers to stare and swoon.

Spring 2017 chez Selman was all about ease, confidence, and comfort with a kick. The runway was peppered with pieces that could easily transition from day to night: easy striped shirt frocks, crop tops, maxi dresses, and shimmering sequined cocktails underscored by easy footwear–sneakers, laced up wedges, and peep toe booties.

Colors were muted with pinks, light blues, and creamy whites. Eye catching bold stripes found their way onto knit polo tops, cinched waist gowns, and jazzy two piece sets.
Boudoir inspiration will continue into next Spring with pajama inspired sets that could go from a daytime barbecue to the bedroom.
Yes, Rihanna will be in these pieces, but scores of ‘it girls’ will flock to it as well. Recent trends have tapered towards women being their unapologetic selves and not sacrificing comfort for style. I’m on board!

Though pegged for Spring 2017, Michael Costello’s latest show had a fall feel. Titled Midnight of the Secret Garden, the collection comprised his signature gowns in deep tones: wines, forest greens, and blacks. The only signs of flowers could be spied on embellishments and fantastical head pieces.
The show opened with wine colored beauts in typical Michael Costello fashion. Double thigh slights, deep decolletage, sheer lace, and satiny sheens were on tap.
Wine’s gave way to sultry, bedroom ready reds and glittering greens.
Black frocks were uplifted by by sheer details, gold accents, and embellishments.
Though Costello triumphs in gowns, he is also known for his stage ready boydsuits. I can see J. Lo twirling in this shimmering caped creation.
Costello also announced his new menswear line with an appearance by Tyson, who elicited claps as he walked down the runway in a slick burgundy suit.

Women everywhere rejoiced and applauded when curvy girl & designer Ashley Nell Tipton was declared Season 14 winner of Project Runway!
A native Californian, Tipton quickly became a champion of curves for women as the first plus sized winner and through her chic playful style of clothing. Tipton found a place in mainstream fashion shortly after her win by announcing that her collection would be a collaboration with JCPenney.
Her efforts to clothe the masses and provide quality affordable clothing to plus sized women made her legendary and iconic months before the collection was available for purchase.
Kicking off New York Fashion Week in a major way, the collection, entitled Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+, debuted Tuesday in NYC’s Greeley Square during three different runway shows and live via JCPenney’s website. Tess Holliday was even in attendance!
Tipton’s 19-piece collection, largely inspired by the 1950’s, features pleated tea length skirts, appliques, bold stripes, and touches of glitter.
Prices range from $15.99 to $74.99 and caters to sizes 0X-4X (select items available in 5X).
Tipton’s Moto Jacket shown here features faux leather, zipper detail, and full-length chiffon panels for a fun and fashionable look.
Lipstick anyone? This button down crop features a trendy lipstick print that falls in line with much of what we’re seeing in patterns this fall. The arms feature a slit, cape-style opening, with a flattering three quarter length sleeve.
Tipton utilized several curvy taste makers in the show including Tess Holliday and NYC curvy influencer and blogger Margie Plus.

Jerome Lamaar of 5:31 Jerome espouses and embraces opulence. When I visited his store/art gallery in the Bronx, 9J, a few weeks prior, I was instantly attracted to the light catching baubles, from rhinestone covered clutches to embellished bags and sequin addled separates. His Spring 2017 catered to his proclivities by means of unabashed sparkles. Titled, ‘Away’, the offering looked to the future, giving a forward, edgy, and avant garde take on casual wear.
Everything from bleached denim jackets to army fatigue pants beamed with Swarovski crystals. Everyday Birkenstoks were given new life with pearls and shells, meticulously affixed by hand. Straw hats were made to look like UFO’s.
Beyonce is a recent fan of Jerome’s artful handiwork and embellished pieces. I hope to see her, and many other Bombshells in his gracefully belted olive green jacket or off shoulder white mini dress.
I felt the presentation was a bit abbreviated, but had such strong statement pieces that it made enough of a visual impact. I can’t wait to see what he does next (and to get in a Swarovksi crystal jacket)!

New York Fashion Week is in full swing and we’re beyond excited about the upcoming sartorial lustings the runways are dishing out! So, far we’ve witnessed retro-inspired perfection via Tom Ford, the unexpected (and fashion forward) genius of Yeezy’s Season 4 collection and let’s not forget about the politically-driven Made for History fashion show – hosted by Anna Wintour and Hillary Clinton. I’m convinced that this season is sure to be one for the books!
With that, we’ve also seen some pretty dope outfits throughout the week – so, join me as we get into five of our favorite celebrity ‘fits!
Our girl Monica made a chic appearance at Rush Night club while rocking an Alice + Olivia cropped jacquard floral jacket and matching ‘Marisa’ floral jacquard shorts. The songstress accessorized her look with pointed over-the knee boots, a blue-tinted pixie cut and flawless makeup. Werk!
Kylie Jenner has been serving up for NYFW! The 19-year-old reality star phenom hit the concrete catwalk as she effortlessly slayed our all our lives in a cream, plunging fitted jumpsuit from LaQuan Smith‘s Fall 2016 collection, a printed leaf coat from Off-White’s Pre-Fall 2016 line and a pair of her trusty Yeezy Season 2 lucite ankle strap sandals. After we posted King Kylie to the ‘Gram, there were some mixed reviews (mainly comments comparing her to older sister, Kim Kardashian West) but, overall, it was straight love! Can’t wait to see what she wears next! Sidenote: Are you feeling the blonde ‘do?
All eyes were on Rihanna as she graced the streets of Soho! The superstar uplifted a Yves Saint Laurent red heart-shaped fox fur cape that she paired alongside distressed denim cutoffs, a graphic black baseball cap and DSquared2‘s ‘RiRi’ lace-up heeled sandals. The fashionista’s exuberant piece ($15,753, to be exact) boasts exaggerated structured shoulders, slash armholes and a delicate silk lining. Thanks to this Bajan princess, I am now on the hunt for my own Kool-Aid hued topper!
Cuteness alert! Kim Kardashian West and her adorable mini-me, North, were papped as they attended Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo concert at Madison Square Gardens. The mommy and daughter duo stopped the world as they both donned silver sequin-drenched dresses – but, it was Kim’s version that left us absolutely speechless. The star’s $12,950 ensemble features a high neck, an open back and a sleek silhouette. It’s hard not to love an epic matching moment! I’m here for every bit of this.
To cap off our lovely celeb contenders, we have FBD fave Solange! The always-stylish trendsetter went the monochromatic route while hosting an exclusive opening party for the House of Peroni. Naturally, she slipped into a Prabal Gurung Fall 2016 red silk chiffon high collar blouse and matching button detail trousers from the brand. I don’t know about you, but I’m so inspired by the whole “romantic” takeover. With endless feminine frills, soft textures and delicate accents, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this style. And, come on, we all know Solo is queen when it comes to this thing called ‘fashion’!
Ringside’s Julissa Bermudez was spotted on Instagram clad in wares from the newly released Fenty X Puma collaboration. The beauty flaunted her taunt abs in a $100 Lacing Cami White Bra and $150 Lace Up Side Sweatpants from the brand:
Her modern sport bra is crafted from stretch jersey fabric which is customizable with longer lacing details.
Her daring sweatpants boast skin-revealing side slits and unique rope lacing at the sides. The extra-long laces also offer versatility: lace them tight for less exposure, or keep them loose to show some skin. Wrap them around your ankles, or tie them in a neat bow.
It’s quite a sporty chic look, no?

We have another fashion battle brewing between two female MCs who have no problem with making a statement! The gorgeous Cardi B was spotted alongside Richie Shazam while wearing an edgy Discount Universe Resort 2017 Sequin Embellished Barbed Wire and Star Motif Jumpsuit, a studded leather jacket and black ankle strap sandals. But, E-v-e also rocked the same piece as she hit the stage for Gwen Stefani’s This Is What The Truth Feels Like Tour,
On the runway, the model served up “killer” vibes as she donned shimmery star-plastered ankle boots, a silver chain link necklace and a sleek ponytail.
I think both ladies look spectacular! While Eve let her version of the jumpsuit do all the talking, Cardi B added a bit of flair with a studded leather jacket. Two different styles, two undeniable slays!
