Nigerian Designer Aladukeh Reimagines Wedding Dresses with Russet, the Bridal Collection

Prospective brides while planning their wedding ceremony always use the phrase, “I want it to be everything I dreamed for,” to describe the type of memories they want to create and how close to perfection they want every aspect of the event to be. Memories created on wedding days are part of what spices up a marriage, and Aladukeh’s effort to reimagine bridal wear and create a collection that boasts of diversity, elegance, glamour, and authenticity, may have given brides a new lease on the bridal experience to look forward to. Earlier this week, Aladukeh launched Russet, The bridal Collection, and everything about the event is an improvement on the standards for which fashion exhibitions are hosted and an irresistible procession of beauty.

Russet, The Bridal Collection, adds an extra dimension to bridal wear. The intentionality with which the fabrics were sourced and the colours chosen to make a great march exposed one to a different idea of how to make the bride central to the event. It further takes us away from the stereotype of brides using whites mainly for their dresses and gowns. In the real sense of it, this approach by Aladukeh takes us closer to the essence of the African culture and a reinvention of the original bridal styles. Each piece of apparel in the collection represents a culture/tribe in Nigeria, and the use of different types of models to showcase them, in complexion, size, and height, establishes the fact that Aladukeh created a collection that personalizes every bride’s look, idea and desire.

In terms of style, each design was distinct. The fact that no two designs had similar features is laudable. Also, the choice of fabrics paid homage to the Nigerian culture. It would have been interesting to see some of the dresses done with cheaper choices of fabrics though, but, understandably, Aladukeh was trying to manifest luxury through and through. The versatility of each design to be worn in multiple ways is very exciting, it also solves the issue of having limited use for a bridal dress once the wedding is over. Aladukeh’s range for this collection is very impressive. It wasn’t limited to the brides alone, it also showcased designs for the bridal train – for simplicity and sophistication.

Russet, The Bridal Collection is neatly stitched and fitted. A closer examination of the dresses on the models and their demeanours reflected comfort. The event itself was a thrilling performance of art and a showcase of culture through fashion as it hosted several artists and fashion professionals who were entertained with the delight of live music after the presentations. Popular actress, Eniola Ajao took part on the runway too. The entire show aligned with the collection as every aspect of it was themed to look like a wedding and all the guests looked amazing. Aladukeh has raised the bar with this creative invention, and there is no doubt that there are others who will be looking to build on the success of the launch and the splendour of the collection.

Fashion Bomb CEO: Claire Sulmers Takes on Paris Fashion Week in Rick Owens, Givenchy, Harbison Studio, Fashion Bomb Daily Shop, Kwame Adusei & More

Fashion Bomb CEO, Claire Sulmers went from standing outside of Paris Fashion Week as young adult, wishing and hoping to one day be apart of the wondrous shows, to officially being in the inner circle and invited to some of the most iconic shows that Paris Fashion Week has to offer.

After wrapping up New York Fashion Week where she hosted her annual the Bomb Fashion Show, alongside Nene Leakes, Sulmers hopped on a plain like the Jetsetter that she is, to arrive to the land of the fluffiest croissants and richest escargot.

Her first runway show in Paris this trip around the sun, was the Givenchy show where she opted for a black Givenchy patent leather body suit that she belted, and paired with black Givenchy patent leather stiletto boots. She layered her look with a leather cropped Moto jacket.

After the Givenchy show, she changed clothes and headed to the fantastical Rick Owens runway show in a $2,140 black Rick Owens Prong Leather Maxi Dress dress that she layered with her black Kwame Adusei Moto jacket.

Similar to her black Givenchy shoes, she paired her Rick Owens ensemble with silver metallic stiletto boots and oversized shades.

The next day, Claire stepped away from black on black, and bloomed in an amaranth pink Rick Owens bodycon dress, and a brown snakeskin The Attico trench coat that she accessorized with bronze metallic lace-up sandals and YSL tortoise shades.

Sulmers was able to grab lunch with some of her favorite people including Nicole Babb who she grabbed a bite with at L’Avenue, the designer of jitrois Paris, Jean-Claude jitrois and Fashion Bomb daily shop designers, Bruce & Glen.

When it came down to the Akris show that showcased florals and fringe galore, Claire returned to black in a Harbison Studio dress that had bold gold buttons down the front.

“I loved the fringed skirts, and easy serpents at Akris,” said Sulmers. ” The new asymmetrical silhouettes at Givenchy were amazing.”

Similar to her New York girlfriend Priya Shukla who she reunited with in Paris, Sulmers wore a pointed toe heel and gold statement earrings while posing in front of some the most beautifully sculpted and architectural buildings.

On Sulmers last night in Paris, she attended a Kilian Paris party to celebrate their new fragrance called Smoking Hot where she wore a $1,175 Rick Owens Abito strapless iridescent coated stretch-denim gown with metallic boots and her mini Hermes handbag.

She indulged in all the festivities with Bruce & Glen and many other friends and was able to end her last night in Paris on a high note.

“I love Paris Fashion Week and it is always wonderful to come back,” exclaimed Sulmers.

As you can see, Claire Sulmers has evolved into a prominent fashion connoisseur, and each year she continues to elevate and perpetuate that she is in fact a fashionable force to be reckoned with.

Fashion Bomber of the Week: Mitchell S. Jackson from Portland, Oregon

From Allen Iverson to Shai Gilgeous Alexander, ballers have been fly. This rich cultural fact is the centerpiece of ‘FLY: THE BIG BOOK OF BASKETBALL FASHION’, the USA Today bestseller by Pulitzer prize winner Mitchell S. Jackson, our Fashion Bomber of the Week.

Jackson’s latest is a visual commentary on the relationship between high fashion and hoops. A cultural collab he explores by celebrating the iconic style of NBA athletes. Some pages heighten nostalgia with Dennis Rodman’s epochal expression of sexuality á la fashion and Walt Frazier’s signature fedora, but recent fashion moments also color its pages: shirtless Dwyane Wade at the 2022 Met Gala, using fashion as protest á la Lebron James’ ‘I CAN’T BREATH’ tee.

Style is not only something Jackson explores for societal research but something he’s known for himself. His polished approach to pattern mixing and streetwear has secured him a spot as one of the most stylish people in publishing. During the promo stages of ‘FLY’, Jackson’s style soared with a unique range. From cool cargos and textured clogs to groovy knit trousers and graphic tees, see how he stayed fly while on tour.

Fashion Bomb Hair: Mother & Daughter Duo Natasha Anderson and Khadija Imara are Revolutionizing the Hair Industry with their Original UnBraider Tool

Revolutionary, noteworthy and unconventional would describe the Original UnBraider tool that has changed the trajectory of taking down your braids.

While many of us enjoy the beauty and convenience of getting our hair braided, we often dread the take down process which can take anywhere from hours to days. Now there is a tool that enables you to take down up to 8 braids at one time.

To alleviate and minimize such a tedious and time-consuming task, Founder Natasha Anderson created the Original UnBraider tool in 2004 to find a more effective way of taking down her daughters braids.

After taking a hiatus from her business, in 2021 Anderson’s daughter Khadija Imara stepped up to assume the role of CEO and relaunched it in February 2023 because she saw the high-demand for the UnBraider ,and knew that it could benefit our community.

For a while weaves were in and there weren’t as many people wearing braids, but now there’s a renaissance of natural hair, and a celebration of the protective styles so I though it would be amazing to bring back a company that focuses on that,” Imara told Fashion Bomb Daily.

After releasing a video in the beginning of the year showcasing how to utilize the innovative tool, the video went viral, amassing over 4-million views and received positive feedback, calling for the need of the Original UnBraider.

“No one has a comb yet like we do to brush out braids,” expressed Imara. “The maximum amount of braids that a customer can take out using our comb is 8 braids, however the smaller the braids, the more you can get in there which is a great time reduction.”

In addition to the Original UnBraider, Imara is focused on the expansion of her business and reach, and also offers a Comb out Spray Conditioner and No Itch Shampoo which she hopes will one day be easily accessible at local retailers.

“The root of the product was to be helpful in taking down braids, but I would always like to point out that it’s a product that we wanted for our community by our community,” said Imara. “Our alliance, resources and beauty innovations are often admired by others but are not always put in the best position for us to all succeed.”

With an emphasis on community, Imara’s intentions is to serve as a catalyst and corner stone for Hair Stylist or take-down businesses to become more profitable simply with the use of a $27.99 comb.

“I would love to be able to share our success and make our success other peoples success to pay it forward as that’s always been our mission and the root of what we stand for,” concluded Imara.

Bomb Beauty Trends: Everything You Need To Know About The Latest Beauty Trend Faux Henna Freckles

The Henna trend is making a comeback and if you though it was for the artistic hand designs, then think again. Henna freckles has quickly gained popularity.

In the evolving world of beauty and cosmetics, trends come and go, but some have the power to leave a lasting impression. Faux Henna Freckles has taken the beauty community by storm, embracing the natural beauty of freckles.

Who doesn’t love faux freckles? Over the years, the beauty community has encountered a few trends that are centered around creating the illusion of faux freckles, but none as realistic as this.

Love them or hate them, you can’t deny how popular they are, especially on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, where users have created multiple viral faux-freckle hacks and methods.

Beauty gurus are applying henna dye directly to the face in attempts to create realistic and long lasting freckles twithout semi-permanent tattooing.

What was once considered an imperfection is now wanted by many. For years within the beauty community, freckles were an insecurity for some, however freckles are now celebrated for their unique charm and individuality.

Freckles add character and make you stand out amongst the crowd while providing a refreshing break from the airbrushed perfection often seen in the media.

Creating Faux Henna Freckles is a straightforward process that can be done at home or by a professional. The process involves using Henna, a natural dye made from the leaves of the Henna plant, to create freckle-like markings on the skin.

Unlike traditional Henna tattoos, which can be bold and intricate, faux Henna freckles are delicate, subtle, and mimics the appearance of sun-kissed freckles, giving you a natural appearance once healed.
