Hey guys! Claire is currently laptop-less since her #ConvoswithClaireATL. Long story short, a housekeeper at the Marriott spilled water on it while she was out and ka-BOOM that was all she wrote! Thus, the fashion bomb team aka dream team is in full effect; making sure things are running smoothly in the interim. Since she’ll be giving a lecture at MIT this week, Claire thought it fitting to have a Conversations with Claire in Boston. Of course I did not oblige, as I myself am a Bostonian! I am pleased to be moderating what I’m sure will be a delightful conversation.
This will be Claire’s first ever event in Boston so now is the time for you Bostonians and New Englanders to show up and show out in your best. If you’re not familiar with Conversations with Claire, it’s an opportunity to hear about her trials, tribulations, and triumphs as she navigated the fashion industry by paving her own lane with Fashion Bomb Daily. I recently attended the one in New York moderated by June Ambrose and let me tell you, it was riveting!
Claire opened up about intimate moments in her book, The Bomb Life, that no one would know otherwise, and offered salient advice to those who aspire to follow in her foot steps and get the inside scoop on how to survive being an entrepreneur. If you are starting your own brand and want nothing more than to leave that 9-5 to put your dreams to action, this event is not one to miss!
After the conversation, the floor will open up for guests to ask Claire any burning questions. Whether it be a question about being an entrepreneur or how she survived a rain storm in her apartment in Paris due to a caved in ceiling, no question is too much to ask.
To accompany the bottomless drinks as we mix and mingle, delicious bites will be provided by the infamous ZAZ restaurant. If you’re not familiar, do yourself a favor and get familiar. Chef Olrie and his team serve some of the best food in town.
Given the month we’ve had of all things Destiny’s Child related, it’s only right we highlight this beauty. Despite the girl group’s disbandment, Michelle Williams has carved out quite the career for herself. Award winning gospel artist, Broadway actress, philanthropist, she seems to do it all. Now, she’s adding style savant to this list.
When Williams first began strutting the path toward defining her look, Bodycon dresses were her go-tos, paired with platform pumps. Because of her long, gamine legs, however, the shoes seemed to weigh her down.
As time progressed, the platform shoe progressed into a sleeker pump or strappy sandal. She also began experimenting with different textures like lace and sequins on party dresses and brocade on frocks.
Bright citrine colors like yellow and peach in maxi dresses exude her effulgent and sunny personality.
A fan of eye catching patterns, whether striped, animal printed or something abstract, she enjoys letting the garments speak for themselves, while keeping hair, makeup and accessories to the minimum.
Who doesn’t love a good jumpsuit? Denim, peplum, or lace, Michelle knows it’s always a good idea, especially when you don’t want the feel of constriction with a dress.
As of late, she’s teamed up with celebrity stylist J. Bolin, who is well known and highly recommended in the gospel arena. Serving looks by Self Portrait and Levenity, high fashion is on the menu for Michelle in 2017, and we can’t wait for more!
So here’s to Michelle Williams. A woman of talent, grace, class, and faith who will never let a naysayer dim her light. She sang it best. “When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no!” We couldn’t agree more!

After her dazzling Met Gala look, Kerry Washington took to the Bronx Children’s Museum Gala in a Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 Black and White Striped Dress:
Celebs didn’t rest after the Met Gala! A slew of them were present for Burberry’s DK88 Bag Launch in lace, fun spins on timeless silhouettes, lavish fabrics, and monochrome ensembles.
Let’s get into their looks!
Mommy-to-be Serena Williams cinched her navy lace, trench-inspired dress with a python belt. Hot!
Jourdan Dunn layered a khaki jacket over a lace frock.
Olivia Palermo anchored a white and cream ensemble with edgy black leather studded booties. Does she ever have an off-day?
Duckie Thot shimmered and sparkled in a silver fringe dress. I’ve got my eye on her!
Juana Burga kept it simple and chic in a one-shoulder LBD.
Slick Woods was clad in head-to-toe FENTY x PUMA. She’s the coolest!
Grace Bol accented a classic, button-front shirt with sumptuous leather. That skin? Flawless.
Malaika Firth went bold in a colorful embellished mini dress. I loved this!
Nina Garcia was understated, but gorgeous in all-black. Her style is impeccable.
It was all about prints and texture for Ellie Goulding. This dress is EVERYTHING.
Ruby Rose accented an all-black ‘fit with a white cape. Fab!
After the show is the after party! Celebs got gussied up in different looks for the Met Gala afterparties.
Let’s see what they wore for their second ensembles of the big night!
The pattern play and Dolce & Gabbana love continued for Zendaya, with her party look consisting of a floral jumpsuit from the iconic Italian fashion house. She’s a stunner!
Tracee Ellis Ross slipped on an Off-White blazer, sequin LBD from the brand, and textured booties. She’s always flawless.
After keeping it quite modest on the carpet, Jennifer Lopez brought her legs out to play in an embellished mini dress and luxurious fur—both by Valentino. Hot!
Kerry Washington ditched her patchwork Michael Kors Collection dress for a black embellished gown. This was fab.
John Legend kept on his dapper tux from the gala, while Chrissy Teigen changed into a sultry Saint Laurent lace and mesh LBD. They’re always one of my favorite couples at any event!
Kate Bosworth switched her demure, black ruffled confection for a bold Emilio Pucci design with sequin embellishment. I wasn’t too keen on her gala ensemble, but this put her right back on top of the night’s best looks.
Emily Ratajkowski swapped her dazzling Marc Jacobs sequin dress out for an all-black ‘fit. Those over-the-knee boots? NEED.
Jessica Chastain flaunted her toned gams in a textured Prada LBD.
Lily Collins wore her sexiest look ever, keeping on her black bob and accenting it with an embellished bustier, high-waist skinnies, and a chic fur.
Adriana Lima looked every bit the supermodel in a black and blue knit mini Nicolas Jebran dress.
Katy Perry shimmered in an Ulyana Sergeenko Couture sequined cape and bodysuit with lurex stockings.
Maxwell had one of my favorite looks of the night, serving up a fun spin on the classic black tux.
Priyanka Chopra ditched her dramatic train for the party!
Lily Aldridge kept on her coveted Balenciaga boots for the night, layering them under a graphic t-shirt dress.
It was all about fringe for Olivia Culpo, in a little red dress with the glamorous accent.
A white lace jumpsuit and vintage style readers were on the style agenda for Sofia Richie.
Pharrell kept his gala ‘fit on, but wife Helen Lasichanh changed into a navy suit, tights, and CDG Play kicks. I love them!
Michael Lockley kept it simple in a timeless suit and his luscious ‘fro.
Our very own Ty Hunter layered it on in a printed blazer, black button-front shirt, draped top, and cargo trousers.
Halle Berry stole the show at the 2017 Met Gala, sizzling in a showstopping Atelier Versace gown that oozed glamour and sexiness. Her hair was a perfect complement to her look—ethereal and pared-down to let her dress and natural beauty shine through. For the evening, stylist Castillo Bataille played with her natural texture, pulling her hair back to create balance with the drama of her gown’s train. Here, all the steps to get her stunning hair:
1. Enhance your natural texture by washing your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner like this one from MarulaOil.
2. Make your style last all night long by using a primer on your damp tresses. Distribute it evenly throughout using a detangling brush.
3. Dry your hair with a diffuser to build volume and increase texture. If you’re towing the line between 3C and 4A like myself, then you’ll most likely want to skip this step!
4. Part your hair in the center and divide each side into two sections: one in the front and one in the back. Use the top of your ear as your guideline for the middle part.
5. If you went the diffuser route, you should now create effortless bends and waves throughout your hair by alternating between a smoothing iron and 1″ to 1.25″ curling wands.
6. Brush through your waves and curls, pulling them back into a low pony tail using a brush with boar-like bristles. Secure it all with an elastic.
7. Back comb your ponytail and spray it with flexible hold hairspray, before rolling your pony into an S-shape and pinning it in place.
8. Complete your look with an ornate headband and secure it in place with more pins and hairspray.
Hey y’all! We were all so anxious to see what the stars wore last night and just like that the Met gala has come and gone; but not so fast, we’ve still got a rundown to give you of all the hottest looks from the red carpet. Who better to get the 411 from than you, our readers? We’ve rounded up the top 10 best looks of the night based on your likes. Let’s take a look at what you guys had to say:
Ms. Halle Berry did not come to play! She hit the red carpet in a killer feathered halter Versace jumpsuit. The a dramatic train had the perfect ruffle layered detail which coincided with the theme quite well. Halle has been slaying for quite some time now and it’s refreshing to see how her timeless fashion transcends decades. It’s no wonder she’s #1.
We have yet to see Zoe fail at a red carpet. Sporting her newest pixie, she was a sight to see, better yet pretty in pink in a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown. The contrast between her edgy new hair style and the soft tones of her dress played on our emotions.
We’re so used to her bold looks; it was great to see her tap into a softer feminine look. Though not to be confused, her fierceness was ever-present and you made that clear in the comments.
The age-defying beauty, Naomi Campbell, graced the red carpet with a date to envy, Edward Enninful, the newly appointed Editor in Chief at British Vogue, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about. Let’s talk about those legs!
The supermodel hit the red carpet looking statuesque in a long sleek Azzedine Alaia dress with a pleated skirt detail which donned a high split to show off her million dollar legs. Her killer bob gave way to the structured shoulders of the dress bringing a bit of edge to her look. Who’s to say her popular date isn’t to blame for landing her at #3? Either way, we’re here for it!
Thigh high splits were a hot commodity of the night and Mary J.Blige did not skip out on the action. She put her best foot forward-literally- and gave us something to talk about. Not only did she give us leg, but she gave us body in the lacy number by LaPerla.
Though her look didn’t quite fall in line with the theme, it was a great red carpet look. The sheer paneling was absolutely everything! These ageless beauties are giving us 20 & 30 somethings a run for our money! Wouldn’t you say?
Stella was a sight to see in a custom H&M dress. The crisp white against the blush satin bodice of the dress was a great contrast. Not to mention, the deep plunge and the exaggerated fringe detail that was perfect for a night at the Met. Though we weren’t expecting to see too many form fitting silhouettes her subtle take on the theme was effortless.
Lala has been killing us softly with her looks these days, but let’s get into her look for one of fashions biggest nights. She wore a black sheer gown by Thai Nguyen. Talk about risqué! She left nothing to the imagination.
I particularly love the back of the dress which was an open back with a bow tie detail that perfectly cinched her waistline. She played her cards well with the dramatic number and it looks like you guys agree.
Can’t say I’m not a bit disappointed to see Rih-Rih land anything lower than 5th place being that she seemed to have hit the head on the nail with the theme of the night, down to the rosy cheek bones and eyes; paying homage to the Japenese designers roots.
Of course it helps that she stuck to one of Rei Kawakubo’s head turning designs to assist in getting it right. If you ask, me I’d say she delivered impeccably and deserves a higher rank, but hey, it’s not about me. Rihanna is not one to stray away from making a statement and that she did.
You know what they say, “Like mother, like daughter”. Looks like Lori Harvey has followed in her mother’s foot steps and fallen in love with lavish designs from designers, such as the bejeweled number she wore by Dolce and Gabbana. I love how the dress graduates from heavy jewels on the top to plush tulle on the bottom. She looks ready to reign a dynasty. It’s the perfect take on the theme for a diva such as herself.
Priyanka looked like a boss in her custom Ralph Lauren trench dress. From the sexy high split, to the sultry off the shoulder, everything about her look screamed bad ass! The train on the dress let us know that she had certainly arrived. Thus, it’s landed her in the top 10 thanks to you guys.
Last but certainly not least is Kylie Jenner in a neutral Versace gown. The sheer gown consisted of a fishnet overlay adorned with a multitude of jewels. The soft tones of the dress allowed her platinum locs to stand bold. Though she just made the cut, it doesn’t look like you guys were about to let a Karsashian/Jenner miss the mark!
There you have it for your top 10 best dressed! Who do you think was the best dressed?
The 2017 Met Gala is going down right now! As you might have imagined, everyone looks gorgeous thus far, but few have been bold enough to opt for the night’s theme in order of the iconic Rei Kawakubo.
Let’s get into the evening’s ensembles, shall we?
Janelle Monae brought her signature black and white look to the carpet, this time choosing an exciting Ralph and Russo gown for the night.
Thandie Newton was a beaut in a custom red Monse one-sleeve gown, with a thigh-high slit. She was a total knockout in this look!
Chrissy Teigen’s feather-accented Marchesa gown was brilliant.
Rita Ora’s red, bow-detailed Marchesa gown was unequaled on the carpet! Her $3 million Lorraine Schwartz studs were a nice touch. Bling bling to the max.
From Zoe Kravitz’s blonde pixie to her pink satin Oscar de la Renta gown with black feather detailing…the entire look was out-of-this-world!
Halle Berry sizzled in a sheer, embellished Atelier Versace jumpsuit with metallic rosette embroidery. Does it get better than this?
I knew Rihanna would slay on the carpet and she did not disappoint in a colorful, textured floral print Comme des Garçons look. Utterly impeccable.
With her voluminous ‘fro and printed Dolce & Gabbana gown, it was nearly impossible to take my eyes off of Zendaya.
Only Solange Knowles could wear a puffer coat to the Met Gala. At least it was by Thom Browne! She’s the coolest.
Nicki Minaj brought the drama in a black and red H&M playsuit for the occasion.
Kerry Washington slipped on a black banged bob and custom black double-crepe-sablé cutout Michael Kors gown with silver patchwork embroidery. She nailed this!
Mommy-to-be Serena Williams glowed in green Versace.
Kim Kardashian was white hot in an off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood Couture gown. So elegant, but not as daring as I hoped for the style star.
Jennifer Lopez brought new beau A.Rod along for the night, stunning in a blue Valentino number. Not as edgy as I would have liked from her, but she’s always flawless.
A custom Ralph Lauren Collection trench evening gown was on the style agenda for Priyanka Chopra. Easily one of the night’s best dressed.
Tracee Ellis Ross chose wearable art from the house of the night, in a sculptural blue jacquard dress. I loved this!
Pharrell kept it pared-down in a black leather embellished biker jacket, plaid button-front shirt, destructed denim, and low-top Docs from Comme des Garçons, while wife Helen Lasichanh went all out in a voluminous jumpsuit from the brand. They’re perfect.
LaLa Anthony tried on the sheer gown trend for size, slipping on an embellished Thai Nguyen Atelier for the night. This was fab.
Cassie and Diddy were easily of the night’s best looking and best dressed couples, with the lady in an On Aura Tout Vu gown and the gentleman in Rick Owens and Christian Louboutin. What’s not to love?
Lupita Nyong’o went bold in a coral organza chiffon Prada gown with hand-cut organza flowers at its strapless neckline. This color was so lovely on her!
Cornrows and a divine white Valentino caped gown were Ruth Negga’s choices for the gala.
Mary J. Blige smoldered in a black lace La Perla gown with a sexy slit. She’s never looked hotter.
Trevor Noah cut a fine form in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture.
Hassan Minhaj killed it at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend, then showed up to the gala in a swanky Turnbull and Asser tuxedo. Swoon-worthy, no?
Cynthia Erivo dazzled in a white beaded Thom Browne asymmetric shoulder dress and a platinum ‘fro to match.
Deepika Padukone kept it simple and classic in a white silk Tommy Hilfiger gown.
Wiz Khalifa let his fun-loving personality and quirky fashion sense shine through in Thom Browne. I enjoyed this!
Future was smart in black and blue H&M.
Liu Wen wore the designer of the moment, slipping on an alluring Off-White look.
Blake Lively was gilded in a custom gold Atelier Versace gown with a peacock feather-inspired hem. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Kylie Jenner followed LaLa’s lead in a sheer embellished Versace gown with fringe detailing. I thought she would be clad in Balmain, but I’m pleasantly surprised by this getup!
Kendall Jenner certainly dropped jaws in a barely-there La Perla Haute Couture design.
Jaden Smith brought his dreadlocks and some grills to the red carpet as his accessories, complementing his all black Louis Vuitton ‘fit.
Mindy Kaling was a blue dream in a navy, off-the-shoulder sequin Prabal Gurung gown with a fringe hem. She’s never looked more stunning!
Monse paid tribute to Rei Kawakubo through Claire Danes. Her ruffled white shirt and lace-up black trousers were a complete slay.
Gisele Bundchen looked every bit the supermodel in a long-sleeve silver Stella McCartney gown. A flawless look, though not really capturing the theme—am I right?
Co-chair Katy Perry gave us red bride vibes in a custom lace Maison Margiela confection, designed by John Galliano himself. Would you expect anything less from her and the iconic designer?
Rose Byrne opted for a red Ralph Lauren cutout gown with a full skirt and plunging neckline. Gorgeous, no?
Katie Holmes was the belle of the ball in an off-the-shoulder look from Zac Posen. Amazing gown!
Lena Dunham was retro in the best way possible, outfitted in a one-shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy piece.
The classic black and white color palette was Allison Williams’s choice for the night in DVF.
Elizabeth Banks’s printed Michael Kors Collection dress was a veritable optical illusion!
Selena Gomez was pretty in pink—ethereal in a Coach gown with a thigh-high slit. A bit lackluster for me, but pretty nonetheless.
Lily Collins’s black bob wig took her Giambattista Valli Couture gown to the next level, which I didn’t even think was possible. A risk that paid off!
As the face of the legendary Italian fashion house’s new fragrance, it was no surprise to see Dakota Johnson wearing Gucci.
Emily Ratajkowski shimmered and sparkled in a colorful sequin Marc Jacobs gown. Beautiful!
Nick Jonas uplifted his expertly-tailored Ralph Lauren Collection pieces with a printed sportscoat. He’s so handsome.
Lily Aldridge was a vision in a custom white Ralph Lauren Collection cutout dress and red Balenciaga thigh-high boots for the evening. One of my favorite looks of the night!
It was no surprise to see Sophie Turner in Louis Vuitton! Her lace appliqué gown with a ruffled back wasn’t a head-turner, but it was certainly pretty.
Hailee Steinfeld flaunted her toned gams in a Vera Wang, thigh-baring ensemble. I live for her style!
Emmy Rossum’s black and white, bow-detailed Carolina Herrera ‘fit was given a pop of color with red lips. So chic!
I love both Bella Hadid and Alexander Wang, but her long-sleeve, off-the-shoulder mesh catsuit fell flat for me.
Reese Witherspoon was clad in an asymmetric shoulder, custom black and blue Mugler gown with a thigh-high slit.
Celine Dion attended her first-ever Met Gala in black and silver Versace. This was so much fun!
Diane Kruger’s white cady Prada gown with gold and crystal embellishment was superb.
Gigi Hadid wore one of the edgiest Tommy Hilfiger dresses I’ve ever seen!
Miranda Kerr’s strapless Oscar de la Renta gown was sublime.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys were my favorite duo of the evening—sporting a custom-made shawl collar tuxedo tailcoat with duchess satin lapels and a red silk charmeuse tuxedo stripe pant, along with a custom Abraham Moon wool double-breasted jacket with peak satin lapels and a wool traditional Welsh kilt, respectively.
Candice Swanepoel served up dark romance in a strapless black Topshop ball gown. Totally immaculate.
Riley Keough continued to reign supreme on the red carpet, choosing a zip-front sequin Louis Vuitton dress for the gala.
Cara Delevingne channeled a futuristic, chic robot—covering her bald head in silver paint and crystal embellishment. Her silver embellished Chanel suit finished the ensemble perfectly.
Kate Hudson was polished in a white, asymmetric shoulder Stella McCartney gown with matching platinum tresses to boot.
Sofia Richie smoldered in a metallic sequin Topshop gown. Perhaps her most magnificent look to date!
Julianne Moore’s colorful, feather Calvin Klein by Appointment frock was easy to fall in love with.
Gwyneth Paltrow also wore a look from the iconic American fashion house—a pale pink one-shoulder, sequin frock. Fun fact: she wore Calvin Klein to her first Met Gala in 1995!
Another dazzling Calvin Klein look! Adwoa Aboah’s lace embellished white gown with a tuxedo-inspired train was exquisite.
Michelle Monaghan’s silver, chainmail-inspired Paco Rabanne gown was impressive in its craftsmanship and powerful simplicity.
Ashley Graham upped the romance quotient for the night in a white and red ruffled H&M gown. Ravishing!
Rami Malek opted for the hue of the night, suited up in a red Dior Homme pairing. Certainly not for the faint of heart, but he pulled this off effortlessly.
Hailey Baldwin continued her love of crop tops in a strapless bustier and triple tier tulle skirt, both by Carolina Herrera.
Corinne Foxx headed to the gala in a Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda embroidered georgette gown, encrusted with colorful sequins.
Mandy Moore’s custom black asymmetrical cashmere Michael Kors Collection gown with hand-embroidered floral corsages, a black cashmere glove, silver asymmetrical studded earrings, and vibrant purple eyeshadow were surefire hits for the evening.
It was all about plaid for Michael B. Jordan in a double-breasted Ralph Lauren duo in the classic pattern. So fresh and so clean!
Joan Smalls was dressed to kill in a red plunging Topshop gown with a sultry slit.
Pinstripes never looked so avant-garde on Jourdan Dunn, who was dressed in H&M.
Queen Naomi Campbell was clad in Azzedine Alaïa alongside new British Vogue EIC Edward Enninful. What a classy duo!
Sasha Lane turned the notion of the timeless LBD on its head in a buckled-bodice, full-skirted embellished H&M design.
