Today’s Bombshell of the day is Pe’a Monique from NY, NY.
She writes, “I describe my personal style as Chill. I hate to be dressed up. I wear casual basics with a key item like a dope jacket or shoe to make a statement and bring my look together. I also chose cool cuts, shapes, or prints to give a look as well. Always little effort and never overdone.”
Fashion Bombshell of the Day is a feature showcasing the singular style of Fashion Bomb Readers. We are now on Day 5 of the hustle and bustle of New York Fashion Week! Our Editor-In-Chief, Claire Sulmers closed out the weekend with a fun-filled brunch and after party at Caribbean Social in Brooklyn. Bombers and bombshells showed out in their flyest fashion week looks before hitting the shows. There was even a special appearance by Elle Varner, who popped in to hang out!
We caught up with some of our readers about their style and the exciting fashion week shenanigans!
Wardrobe stylist, @kidear came to kick it outfitted in a suede bomber and a matching fedora.
What makes your Fashion Bomb?
My fashion is bomb because it’s an expression of my personality. It’s classy, but exudes confidence.
What do you spend the most on when shopping?
I spend the most on accessories. I love a nasty label on my feet [laughs], paired with a sick bag and some chic jewelry.
Come through black and white! @ourcloset1119 kept it casual and cute in a black and white ensemble featuring a mini Louis Vuitton bag.
Who is your celebrity style inspiration?
At this moment I will go with Cardi B. I love the fact that she can wear high and low fashion and make it effortlessly look great.
What are 5 words to describe your style?
Edgy, Trendy, Bold, Modern, and Simple
For her rainy day style, @mariedriven stopped by to sip and brunch in a vintage coat, denim and a camouflage hat. Cute!
What do you love about fashion week? What do you hate?
What I love about fashion week is you never know what to expect. People get really creative in adding their own spin to fashion. What I hate about fashion week is that the shows are not what they used to be. I feel like fashion week has been watered down.
What show are you most excited for?
I’m excited for the VFiles show–they’re a creative bunch!
The outerwear was on fire at the soirée! Bombshell, @fetchxlysh was clad in a trench coat and accessorized with a statement ‘Go For It’ scarf and pink bag.
What makes your style bomb?
What makes my style is that I don’t put myself in a box! I love doing the most with colors, prints and textures. Even my “dress down” looks are extra! I’m a lively, personable individual and it shows in my style.
What’s your favorite part of Fashion Week?
My favorite part about fashion week has been the people and seeing everyone show their personality through their looks and just owning it in full confidence. Also the networking that is done has been fabulous and refreshing!
We loved catching up with readers over the weekend! Stay tuned to more street style and interviews as fashion week winds down this week.
Today’s Fashion Bombshell of the Day is Jamilah from Harlem, NYC.
She writes, “My style is best described as a tomboy but still in a very girly form TOMGIRL.”
“My style is inspired by some of Harlem’s finest. Harlem taught me how to dress.”
”Some days I feel inspired by dapper dan some days I feel real inspired by the diplomats and when I’m feeling girly and stylish I get super inspo from kelis to June Ambrose. Style should be expressive and every time I’m heading out my mood is always reflected by my outfit and hair.”

Last season, Philipp Plein’s show broke the internet with a hot strut on the runway by Teyana Taylor and performances by Future, Nicki Minaj, Yo Gotti, 21 Savage, and more. This season it was a futuristic Winter Wonder land on night 3 of New York Fashion Week as guests arrived to the industrial Brooklyn Navy Yard. Greeted by massive foil structures, faux snowflakes on the ground, and falling snow it was an exciting experience. The show opened with a bang featuring a performance by Rich the Kid rapping his hit song ‘New Freezer’ which has recently had social media in a frenzy followed by an opening walk from a Philipp Plein text logo emblazoned robot alongside Victoria’s Secret model Irina Shayk.
The designer took a sporty chic approach this season introducing luxury ski trip attire including ombré fur coats, knee high fur boots, floor length metallic puffer coats, and men’s shearling jackets to name few. The looks were accessorized with crystal embellished ski googles and bags. Winter skiwear was taken to another level.
There was a bit of ’60s inspiration with bold voluminous bump hairstyles in an array of colors on the snow adorned runway.
A lot of diversity was seen throughout the runway including a model wearing her hijab, a man running with prosthetic legs, and multiple ethnicities. Christian Combs , Cordell C. Broadus and Jerrika Karlae were amongst some of the celeb models who slayed their respective looks.
Like previous seasons, there were skulls and a flash of the Playboy logo on some of the clothes. However, Philipp Plein’s name was embellished on most of the lust worthy gear.
The show closed with a shift in clothing from sporty to dapper as a few men hit the runway in tailored suits and chic winter jackets.
The Plein experience is always an entertaining one. For the finale, the models danced under the huge ‘PP’ spaceship housed in the middle of the space while Migos closed the show with their mega hit ‘Motorsport.’ The trio ended the show in true Philipp Plein fashion and the after party commenced. Epic!
Bibhu Mohapatra’s Fall 2018 collection was inspired by Francesco Clemente’s portraits from the film ”Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens . The presentation explored the unusual relationship between Miss Havisham and her adopted daughter Estella through the impassioned color palette of plum, fuchsia, & merlot just to name a few.
Mophapatra transitioned the second half of the presentation with “Sashi” his new capsule collection of separates displaying multi purpose outerwear, bold streamline pants & sleek silk & cashmere knitwear.
Between the delicate Japanese lace, crystal embroidered dresses and leathered canvases Mophapatra’s presentation was a whimsical delight.
These daring yet elegant pieces are fashioned for the likes of Zendaya & Miss Bad Gal Rih Rih herself!
What are your thoughts on Bibhu’s Fall 2018 collection?
Award winning fashion journalist Constance White recently unleashed, How to Slay, a book documenting African-American style through the twentieth century, with a focus on the last 4 decades.
The book overflows with scintillating photos and smart writing, highlighting trendsetters and tastemakers including Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Jay Z, Pharrell Williams, and more. According to Rizzoli, “The book explores the cultural underpinnings of Black trends that have become so influential in mainstream popular culture and a bedrock of fashion vernacular today. A preponderance of Black musicians, who for decades have inspired trends and transformed global fashion, are featured and discussed, while a diverse array of topics are explored—hats, hair, divas, the importance of attitude, the use of color, ’60s style, the influence of Africa, and the beauty of black skin.”
White adds, “With this book, I seek to document and represent how Black style is put together and worn, how it is presented, and how it has influenced fashion in ways both large and incremental. My intention was not to make a comprehensive or definitive volume; it is meant to be a fun, informative, and entertaining journey through Black style.”
I can’t wait to get my copy!

Happy Saturday bombers and bombshells! We are back and better than ever with the looks of the week based on your likes on Instagram. In preparation for fashion week whether it was street style or red carpet looks, our favorite celebs kept the heat coming. Let’s get into this chic contenders of the last 7 days!
Taraji P. Henson in David Koma: 31,778 LikesWe can always count of Taraji to turn heads on the red carpet! She attended the amfAR Gala in a deep plunging gown by David Koma. The embellished dress had burnt orange and silver details with a small, but just enough train. Not to mention, Taraji’s hair cut and color was the perfect accessory for this look!
Jhene Aiko in Balenciaga: 30,518 LikesThe songstress kept it chill in London clad in a Balenciaga logo sweater paired with YSL boots. Jhene’s bold shaped sunnies added even more chicness to this simplistic, yet bomb look. This is the perfect way to rock the oversized sweater look. Simply fly, Jhene!
Kelly Rowland in Versace: 20, 222 Likes Hello, Kelly! We don’t see Ms. Rowland much, but when we do she always has an effortless vibe about her. She stepped out casually in Australia outfitted in a Versace button down, cut off shorts, and Adidas. She accessorized with aviator sunnies and her long, curly tresses blew in the wind. Kelly makes it look easy, for sure!
Kourtney Kardashian in Balenciaga: 19,370The New York City streets were a runway for Kourtney Kardashian last weekend, as she brought Penelope and North West to the city for some fun. She hit the streets in a Balenciaga cropped shearling patched leather jacket. I think we can all agree that this coat alone is a look! She paired it with plaid pants and a mini Louis Vuitton purse. Kourt always kills it!
Ciara in Uel Camilo: 18,850 Likes Cici hit the NFL honor red carpet in a sheer Uel Camilo gown, showing lots of skin – in a classy way, of course! From the cleavage, to the red lip, to the double bun hairstyle; Ciara did everything right with this look. Gorgeous from head to toe!
Welcome to the New Fashion Bomb Daily!
As I wrote on The Bomb Life, I wanted to take some time off from the day to day grind of running FBD, give it a bit of a facelift, and come back with the heat! What do you think?
I decided to launch just in time for #NYFW, which kicked off a few days ago. I’ve been busy as ever, popping by shows and living The Bomb Life! Yesterday, I interviewed T.I., said hey to June Ambrose, Ty Hunter, and Jay Alexander at the Concept Korea show, then popped by Philipp Plein’s house for a private dinner (#nobigdeal)!
At any rate, after OVER 10 years of running FBD, I felt like it was time for a shift. On the site, we’ll be focusing on the stuff you guys love, like Bombshell of the Day and Bomb Product, but will also be giving you more substance than what you can find on Instagram. Think thought pieces, interviews, and more.
I thank you all for rocking with us this long! We might take a break, but we #cantstopwontstop.
Smootches!
*For #NYFW Day 2, I wore a checked blazer and skirt from Zara, a Duckie Confetti coat, Balenciaga boots, and Gucci sunglasses from Specs New York.
