Claire’s Life: Erin Harris and Valeisha Butterfield Jones’s Welcome to LA Brunch at the Jeremy

So there are a slew of bomb business women who have decided to ditch the sleet and snow of New York and move over to sunny LA. This past Saturday, I, along with many others, celebrated two of those women: Blue Flame SVP Erin Harris and Google’s Global Head of Women & Black Community Engagement, Valeisha Butterfield Jones.

The brunch, sponsored by Ciroc, welcomed dozens of women who have it all: Style, Brains, and Beauty to match. With the help of photographer Maya Ayanna Darasaw, I was able to capture just a few. Take a look:

Executive Claudine Joseph looked vibrant in a floral dress, Gucci sneakers, and a Hermes Birkin bag.

The beautiful KJ Rose paired jeans with a draped top and dainty gold jewelry.

Marketing powerhouse and entrepreneur Karen Civil looked chic in a Balenciaga sweater, leather skirt, and Givenchy boots.

Stylist and Designer Tameka Foster opted for a flirty skirt and a matching printed bag.

Jennifer Williams showed off her stems in a dress from her boutique, Classy Girl Wardrobe.

And Spirits executive Alisa Jacobs looked bomb in a yellow wrap dress, equipped with a slit.

As for me, I’ve been having a bit of a fashion emergency due to a confluence of factors, but I pulled it together with Sophia Webster Chiara heels and a simple dress from House of CB.

It was a fun time!

And now I’m inspired (yet again) to take the leap and venture out West.
What do you think? Could you see FBD and Claire in Cali?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Jess from the Bay Area

Happy Monday!

It’s a new week which means new fashion slay! Today’s Fashion Bombshell of the day is Jess who’s originally from the Bay Area, yet currently resides in San Antonio, TX.

She writes, “I would describe my style as very neutral, but classy with a definite trendy twist. A few years ago, I started only wearing lots of neutral colours (olives, browns, blacks, creams) so I LOVE the latest wave of popular colours and silhouettes.”

“I work F/T in corporate America, so many of my clothes HAVE to translate to the boardroom as well as the turn-up. I spend the MOST money on my accessories – purses, shoes and jewelry, because these are pieces you can wear over and over and over again and they can be great investment pieces.”

You better work! Love the prints.

Queen Bee never fails to look impeccable, we especially loved her recent look by Marques Almeida. Stripes are certainly a popular pattern in today’s top looks.

Claire’s Life: A Special Screening of Amanda Seales’s New HBO Comedy Stand Up, I Be Knowin’

The other night, I was invited to a special advanced screening of Amanda Seales’s new HBO Comedy Stand Up Special, I Be Knowin’.

While most of you might know Amanda as Tiffany, the somewhat stuck up glamour girl on Insecure, I first met Amanda as Amanda Diva, years ago when she was on a show called Funny Style on BET.

Amanda has always been funny, always been unapologetically black, always been beautiful, but I Be Knowin seems to capture her essence completely. In the one hour comedy special she explains is geared towards Black Women, she, resplendent in African print accented by a salmon pink tank, discusses issues we all deal with, from corporate politics, to cat calling to white privilege–all in a hilariously uplifting way.

While watching I Be Knowin’, I laughed out loud several times, cheered, and joined her and the audience in singing several songs (including the Black National Anthem). Watch this with your girls–the special feels intimate yet universal, as Amanda touches on topics distinct to the black female experience in Trump’s America.

Be sure to check it out on HBO on January 26th (just a few days away), and let me know what you think!

For the night, I represented in a Black Panther tee from FashionBombDailyShop.com.
I’m in LA! Stay tuned for snaps from the Sunshine State.
