A Style Guide To Personalized Fashion: How To Make It Work

The way you dress reflects an immense amount about your personality to everyone around you. It’s a complex art to master, but it can add a lot to your life if done right. It’s time to break the mold by creating your own fashion style and setting yourself free from mainstream fashion trends. However, to start from scratch, from designing your own clothes to finding the perfect vintage store, there’s a lot to learn! Personal fashion will earn you the confidence you need and a sense of uniqueness. Start by learning how to play with your essentials to style them up and down, according to your mood.

It’s a fact that style doesn’t come easy for everyone, and that’s okay—it’s not something to feel ashamed of. However, contrary to popular belief, style isn’t innate. Instead, you can learn over time—if you so desire it. If you have simple guidelines to guide you, it’s much less intimidating to define your look.

Here are some ways to make personalized fashion work for you:

  1. Sort Out Your Basics

You first need to think about fashion when looking at your wardrobe for outfits that are classic and easy to wear. It would be best if you were looking to replace your basics every few years because the material does wear out, and your body may change as well. Look for online stores with sales and discounts to help you out.

If you know what size you are, be sure to select an online store that carries that size. You should always make sure that the garments you purchase fit your body shape. When it comes to essential items, one should consider one or two pairs of jeans, one little dress (preferably black since this will be easy to accessorize), and a couple of tops, including a white shirt and cotton t-shirt, among others. You can’t build a fashion style without having the right basics.

  1. Adopt Customized Fashion

Fashion is becoming increasingly personal as consumers seek more personalized experiences with brands. In other words, consumers want to design their clothing rather than blatantly reflect the label’s style. One way to do this is to make a custom t-shirt by yourself.

A brand that values the personalized fashion experience has different options to offer. A simple monogram may result in the customer feeling more connected to the merchandise they purchased, even though some customized fashion approaches can prove more successful than others.

  1. Build A Style for Your Personal Fashion

Your black dress and a colorful pair of pumps, with a matching belt to coordinate, make for a simple and elegant style. Wear a bright handbag instead if you don’t have a belt. Try on many different outfits and experiment to find what’s most comfortable. Feeling confident, you can incorporate a romantic touch into your everyday wardrobe by adding a hat to a long dress.

If hats don’t appeal to you, why not go for a flower-printed dress with ballet flats to complete the look? Perhaps, swing in some Light Up Boots if you’re going out for the night. Don’t be afraid to play with your style. In addition, if you have old clothes that you like but aren’t wearing anymore, you can make something new from them. This can make your fashion genuinely unique.

  1. Use Accessories That Makes You Confident

Accessories, as you’ve probably heard before, can make or break an outfit. This is usually the case. There are plenty of inspirations in the fashion world, so you’ll need to refer to what’s appropriate for your attire. This isn’t a statement about lifestyle or personality but rather about comfort. Examples of this include women who don’t feel comfortable wearing rings because they may experience swollen fingers. It could be that they just don’t like jewelry in general. Others probably don’t like coordinated handbags with their outfit. Some people just feel better without jewelry. Aside from sunglasses, you can choose from a wide assortment of other accessories! Regardless of how many accessories you choose, the most important thing is to be happy with your choices.

Conclusion

Staying true to your personal style is the most important thing when working with personalized fashion. Never try to mimic someone else’s style. Remember that self-confidence is your best accessory. Take your time when choosing your clothing, and be sure to wear it the way you feel at home.

There’ll always be items that aren’t “in” that season or aren’t “in” any longer, but you should wear whatever you like. With a good attitude, you can make any outfit stand out and feel more confident in your clothes.

Stylists Law Roach and Jason Bolden React to WWD Article on Lack of Black Designers at the Golden Globes

The Fashion World is still buzzing from last night’s epic Golden Globes carpet! But while most of us are determining who should be on the best dressed list, Women’s Wear Daily writer Booth Moore took the opportunity to question the lack of Black Designers on the red carpet. She wrote, “For all the discussion about the lack of diversity and inclusion in the HFPA membership, and the Golden Globes snub of every single Black-led ensemble film in the motion picture category, there were precious few designers of color represented on the virtual red carpet. And that’s something the talent could control.”

While her question seemed well intended and somewhat benign, stylists Law Roach (who dressed Tiffany Haddish in Alberta Ferretti ,  Anya Taylor Joy in Christian Dior, and more) and Jason Bolden (who dressed Cynthia Erivo in Valentino) took serious issue with the article, and went live today on Instagram to dish about the not so nice underbelly of the Hollywood fashion industry. They relayed how opportunities like dressing talent for the Globes are reserved for a select few, and that their focus, once in the room, is on creating an undeniably magical fashion moment. They also expressed feeling undue pressure to make a change by themselves, and questioned why stylists and actresses of other races don’t use their tremendous power and privilege to enact change. Watch below:

It seems that many black creatives, when in positions of being the only one or one of few, must deal with unspeakable pressure, ranging from the responsibility of representing an entire race while also doing their job at the highest level possible. And of course, the ultimate decision is not on them. It can’t be easy, and we certainly can’t judge.

But hopefully this discussion will lead to even more advocacy for Black Designers on red carpets in the future.

What do you think?

9 Top Celebrity Fashion Trends to Look Out for in Spring/Summer 2021

Almost all of us had so many outfits planned for spring and summer last year that we could not wear. It would have seemed silly to sport a bunch of trendy fashion wear in the middle of a pandemic, especially since there was nobody in the streets to look at us. Most of us got used to our leggings and cheap sweatshirts.

Since the vaccinations have already started for COVID-19, we can think of getting dressed more often and keep up with the latest trends. Many styles could not have their moments to shine last year, so we can expect them to go strong in  2021. It also seems that the fashion industry is avoiding anything too fancy or over the top.

Most of us have gotten used to wearing comfortable clothes at home. It seems the fashion trends of 2021 are greatly influenced by that.  So whether you are planning to start a clothing line or replenish your wardrobe, these are ten big fashion trends that you must consider.

Bralettes

Most of us are used to wearing bralettes as a comfortable alternative to a bra under baggy shirts and loose clothes. Sometimes we also use them to create a pop of color or print under plain clothing. We can see the bralettes trend making a comeback. A lot of celebrities are wearing bralettes under their shirts, cardigans, and blazers.

I think most of us have gotten used to wearing bralettes during the pandemic in our homes and loving the opportunity to wear them outdoors as well. The best thing about bralettes is that you do not have to bother about matching them with your top layer.

Black and Whites

A white button-down shirt and black pants have been a classic pair forever. So it is not surprising that it is the option we choose when we do not want to put a lot of thought into what we should wear.

It seems that the combination is still as popular as it always was. We even spotted several celebrities experimenting with black and white outfits with scarves, belts, jewelry, and other statement fashion accessories.

Bright Colors

As 2021 brings new hope into our lives, we can see a lot of bright colors popping up in celebrity and fashion clothing. Earlier trends were mostly limited to using bright colors to provide an extra pop using a bold bag, shoe, or hat.

But in 2021, we are starting to notice celebrities going all out with some even sporting borderline ridiculous combinations. However, most of them seem to be taking advantage of the color blocking trend and sticking to shades that pair perfectly.

Matching Sets

It seems we have gotten too used to wearing matching sets of pajamas and loungewear. Celebrities and fashion influencers are seen wearing matching sets in social settings and Instagram posts.

Some of them have ramped up the look of matching sets with chunky boots, blazers, statement necklaces, or a turtleneck. We have also noticed a lot of monochromatic vibes from tops and bottoms of the same color family used together.

Oversized Sleeves and Shoulders

It is another fashion statement that seems to be influenced by the indoor comfort we have so gotten used to last year. It seems that celebrities are combining comfort with the fashion of the 80s to sport puffed-up sleeves and shoulders.

Oversized Pants

It seems that voluminous sleeves and shoulders are not the only oversized clothes that have returned. The lockdowns have made us used to feeling free and flexible legs, and we really don’t want to get back into tight and constricting pants.

Celebrities are balancing oversized pants with slim-fitting or cropped tops so that the baggy pants do not come across as lazy. Many plus-size pants are making a comeback, such as wide-leg jeans, slacks, and yoga pants.

Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses have always been one of the most versatile dresses we have ever owned. We have used them on summer nights with a pair of sandals. We have even gone to weddings wearing a maxi dress with jewels and heels.

Maxi dresses are making a big comeback due to the comfort factor. A lot of celebrities have been spotted testing advanced layering techniques by wearing them over pants and sneakers.

Chunky Flat Shoes

We have seen a lot of sneakers and boots over the last few years as popular flat styles. But it seems that loafers, ballet style flats, and baby doll shoes have come out of retirement and started becoming the latest footwear trends. We are also seeing a lot of longer-length socks to make them look fresh.

Belts

Belts have been a part of our fashion accessories since time immemorial. Most of us do not wear belts to serve their original purpose but as a fashion statement.

It seems that the trend of sporting belts with statement buckles is coming around as more and more celebrities, fashion icons, and influencers are starting to wear mid-section belts. We have spotted several celebrities and fashion icons using belts with dresses, blazers, and sweaters.

The pandemic has affected almost every walk of life, including fashion. The latest fashion trends seem to be emphasizing the fact that we’ve gotten used to wearing our comfortable clothes outdoors. If you have noticed any such trends lately, please let us know in the comments below.

Which CBD Products Are Worth Buying Wholesale?

If you are thinking of becoming a CBD retailer or distributor, then you have probably done quite a lot of research about the whole market. During the research, you must have realized that getting in on this business could be quite profitable, since the products are extremely popular and since it seems that people are only becoming more and more infatuated by them. I can tell you one thing for sure. If you are ready to put in the necessary effort, then this is without a doubt a perfect idea for you.

Yet, I am sure that you probably won’t just rush off to buy CBD products wholesale right now before doing any further research whatsoever. Or, at least, you shouldn’t do that. There are definitely a lot of great wholesale opportunities out there, as you can see if you visit cheefbotanicals and similar manufacturers, but the point is that you shouldn’t rush into this without first determining one crucial thing.

I’m talking about the fact that you first need to decide which CBD products are actually worth buying wholesale for your particular purposes and which might not be that worth it. This can be quite a difficult decision, as there are a lot of amazing products out there. But, you probably don’t want to end up with your shelves and storages full of those products that people won’t actually buy as you expected, which is why doing this research is absolutely necessary.

Here’s the very first thing that you need to know when trying to choose these products. It all starts with finding the perfect manufacturer, meaning that you certainly won’t be able to sell CBD made by certain brands that aren’t respected on the market and that are ill-reputed. Like i49, which is a legal cannabis dispensary and sells quality products from high yields cannabis plants. People do their research when buying Cannabidiol because they want to get the best of the best, and you should do your research as well.

After finding the right manufacturer, though, you’ll still need to think about which types of products are actually worth buying wholesale. While I cannot exactly tell you which products are the best ones, here’s what I can do. I can get you familiar with some of the most popular types of CBD out there that should definitely reach your selection of the products you want to buy in bulk and then resell. So, let’s get started.

Tinctures & Oils

Oils and tinctures should definitely be on your list, since these are quite popular among people these days. Of course, this popularity isn’t random. As explained by this useful source, CBD oil has a lot of amazing health benefits, which is exactly why people love it that much and buy it that often. The same goes for tinctures, since these two don’t differ that much, except in the way they are consumed and people definitely like having a few options when it comes to the consumption methods.

If you are looking for the products that you cannot go wrong with, then you should opt for getting tinctures and oils, since these have definitely found their ways into people’s hearts. There’s no doubt that you’ll be able to profit off of these. In fact, oils and tinctures are usually the most common CBD types that distributors and retailers decide to buy in bulk for the purposes of reselling. That speaks a lot about whether they are worth it or not.

Edibles

As you might know already, the CBD industry doesn’t consist only of oils and tinctures. In fact, there are edibles that people can purchase and enjoy, such as gummies, honey sticks and similar. You might, however, be concerned about whether these are actually popular enough to be bought frequently. If they aren’t, then you probably don’t want to buy them in bulk, because you don’t want to end up watching them spend their time on your shelves without ever reaching the hands of your consumers.

I can completely understand where you are coming from and this is undoubtedly a justifiable concern. Yet, as I have mentioned above already, people like to have different options when it comes to the methods of consuming their CBD products, meaning that they’ll be happy to try out edibles such as gummies and similar. What’s more, some individuals have already found their favorite Cannabidiol products that they can’t go without and those often come in the form of edibles.

Read this if you aren’t sure whether buying gummies wholesale is a good idea: https://trans4mind.com/counterpoint/index-health-fitness/cbd-oil-gummies-wholesale-benefits.html

Topicals

In addition to the two above mentioned types, you should really take topical CBD into consideration, because it seems that this type is becoming increasingly popular. Everybody wants to take care of their skin and topical CBD can help them do that and much more, since it can also ease muscle and bone pains. Topicals are quite popular and bought rather often, which is why adding them to your collection of products would definitely be a pretty good idea.

Pet Products

Of course, when talking about CBD in general, you cannot fail to mention the supplements and products that are made for our pets using this compound. Giving Cannabidiol to animals is nothing unusual these days and it has, in fact, become common practice for most pet owners. So, if you truly want to profit, adding pet CBD to the mix should definitely be your plan. I’m sure you won’t regret it.

On-trend Colors and Prints for Summer 2021

Whether you are planning a COVID-safe summer trip or your only hope is to get out of the house sometime while the weather is nice, you need to have at least trendy outfit. Clothing that is in style will make you feel more put-together, increasing your confidence and improving your mood — even as COVID continues to dictate where you can go, whom you can see and more.

When you are shopping for your summer wardrobe — which should include a few cute face masks that coordinate with your outfits — here are the colors and patterns you should prioritize this upcoming season:

Camel, Camel, Camel

After years of blacks, whites and grays, the warm tones are finally making a comeback. In particular, light brown hues like camel are dominating designer palettes, so you are likely to see plenty of beige, tan, khaki and camel clothing options in the coming months. The best part about this neutral shade is that it pairs well with essentially every other color and print, so you can pick up all sorts of wardrobe summer staples — like shorts, shirts and swimsuits — in camel to cover your bases.

Vintage Florals

Florals are one of those patterns that never quite go out of style, but the type of floral on trend can vary from year to year. This summer, you should look for delicate florals, with smaller floral patterns with romantic color palettes. These floral prints are reminiscent of the flower children of the 1970s as well as the femininity of the 1990s, and both decades remain very much in. While bigger, bolder florals are not out of style, they should only be used on oversized clothing, like broad, flowing sundresses.

Intricate Geometrics

Another element of the 1970s that has definitely come back is the liberal use of busy geometric patterns. Squares within squares, bisected circles, twisting lines and various other shapes combine to make intricate and visually striking patterns that scream “retro.” The warm vintage tones of the ‘70s are most common for these geometrics — mustard, orange, cream, brown and gold — but if you can find them in other color palettes that better suit your aesthetic, you might try them out.

Soft Camouflage

Some fashion historians believe that camouflage comes into style during times of political discontent — and there has been plenty of that of late. Instead of the bold camo prints more popular during the mid- and late-2000s, these days fashion-forward camo is a bit softer, perhaps reflecting a less intense dissatisfaction with the political forces that be. You should opt for camo prints in light, faded colors, like pastels, to capitalize fully on this trend.

Jewel-tone Pastels

Speaking of pastels, you generally want to look at light, feminine colors in the jewel-tone family, which are bright and cheery for the summer season but not necessarily aggressive or bold. In particular, minty greens, faded corals and baby blues are popular options. Because pastels don’t hold much visual weight, you should be able to use them on anything and everything in your wardrobe, from larger pieces like dresses and oversized blazers to face masks, scarves and shoes.

Yellow Pops

Yellow is a difficult color for most people to style, so thankfully large yellow pieces are not fully on trend. Instead, you will likely see pops of bright yellow, especially on handbags. The precise shade of yellow doesn’t seem to be all that important; as long as the bright yellow bag doesn’t clash with your outfit, you should find it to be a simple and stylish accent piece within your wardrobe.

Intense Embroidery

If your summer plans involve heading someplace colder, this trend is for you. Coats covered in heavy amounts of embroidery and lace are coming into style, likely because both embroidery and lace look and feel expensive. Typically, the colors of the coat and detailing are more neutral, in blacks and browns, but if you prefer bold colors, you can find fashion-forward options. Even better, if you are skilled with a needle, you can DIY your own embroidered coat, starting with a jean jacket or another heavy material that can support intricate designs.

You don’t have to get vaccinated to show off your summer style. As long as you are appropriately masked and physically distanced from those outside your bubble, you can flaunt these summer fashions fabulously.

Christian Siriano Reminds Us Fashion Is a Dream With Fall/Winter 2021 Show Featuring Mountain-Inspired Fashion, Beautyrest Mattresses and thredUp Clothing

As the pandemic continues, New York Fashion Week made the decision to go fully digital for their Fall 2021 shows. In meaning, shows will be streamed for everyone to view from comfort of their humble abodes. Christian Siriano is the latest designer to hold a Fall/Winter 2021 show attended by a small, exclusive guest list including our very own EIC Claire Sulmers. It is no secret that the ongoing global pandemic has shook the fashion world to its core, shuttering timeless brands and leaving those still standing searching for inspiration and creativity in design. Christian Siriano’s Fall/Winter 2021 show came at the perfect time, showing us that fashion is still fun yet dream-like even in the midst of a global crisis.

Designer Christian Siriano shares: “This year has been so up and down, it’s been difficult to figure out what I wanted to create this season. In a pandemic, it’s hard to stay inspired in general, so I decided to dream up another world…one that doesn’t exist anywhere but in my mind.

Recently, Siriano took a trip to Aspen, Colorado to visit family, making this the first time seeing his relatives in a year. However, sometimes a change of environment is all you need to find inspiration and that’s exactly what happened with Siriano.

He expresses: “I was really inspired by this idea of a psychedelic alternate reality. A dream world up high into the mountains where an almost colony-like world exists.”

Christian Siriano ultimately turned his pyschdelic dream into a runway reality. Kicking off the show, models Coco Rocha, Martha Hunt, Candice Huffine and Teddy Quinlivan rose from mattresses which had been placed in four corners outside of the runway. Courtesy of Beautyrest, the mattresses were used to symbolize Siriano’s dream-like feels as well as prove “it’s always fashionable to be well-rested”. The models “got ready for the day” in the designer’s Fall 2021 pieces and proceeded to strut down the runway, setting the tone for the show.

Siriano further describes the Fall 2021 collection: “This collection is a reflection of what I think fashion would be in this fantasy world, and how my customers would decide to dress. I envisioned hidden parties and cocktail hours in the mountains, with people wrapped in cashmere wool coats and vibrant silky evening dresses. The unbelievable sunset overlooking vast landscapes inspired a sun drenched pink and orange color palette, balanced with snow ivory creams and rich chocolate browns. I hope this collection shows that fashion remains a powerful dreamlike world that can be actual reality if we let it happen, despite the circumstances.”

As we all know, fashion has been one of the biggest contributors to pollution of the planet and many have been urging the industry to consciously adjust its ways. For this collection, Siriano made the decision to incorporate thrifted garments in his runway show which were supplied by the resale company thredUP. This made Siriano the first to ever send thrift clothing down the runway in New York Fashion Week history. Siriano made this bold choice in hopes of inspiring the fashion industry to be more sustainable and conscious of the environment. He believes that “thrift is one of the best ways to reduce fashion waste, extend the life of clothes, and keep garments out of landfills.

While Christian Siriano tackles many areas including sustainability, the main thing takeaway from this show was: dreams can become reality. Each garment feels like a party, cocktail hour or any other excuse to get dressed up, things we use to enjoy prior to the pandemic. While the pieces make us long for these moments again, it shows that these moments might not be far from happening again with hope. All in all, Siriano shows that our dreams of partying and getting dressed up in your fanciest threads can be a reality. Even during the times we’re in, you make the best out of those moments with what you have.
