Style Diary: Stars and Stripes

So Happy Post 4th of July!

Hope you guys had a fabulous holiday and long weekend!
It’s been 2 years since I’ve celebrated Independence Day in the States, so I decided to do the cheesy tourist thing in the morning and see the Statue of Liberty. Turns out the 4th was one of the worst days to do this–the lines to get to Ellis Island were long and who has three hours to spend waiting to get on a ferry? So I purchased a ticket for the Water Taxi to catch views of the statue up close:

For the day I chose to rock American designers in shades of red, white, and blue: A chambray shirt from the GAP, a BCBG Max Azria tie dye skirt, and a red leather pouch from American Apparel.

I accessorized with even more American elements–a gold Marc Jacobs watch, multicolored necklace by ken + dana, Kate Spade sweet nothing studs, Ray Ban aviator sunglasses, double bangles by blogger Jessie Adore, and Kelsi Dagger Camelia flat sandals.

Then it was off to a BBQ and an evening of Bowling + Fireworks at Lucky Strike (I discovered I’m a horrible bowler–boo).

What do you think? And what did you wear for the 4th?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Katrelle from Houston

Ok, confession: I’ve been listening to Beyonce’s 4 for the past 48 hours. Yes, the full album, on repeat, every day. Aside from falling in love with select singles (Countdown, Party, and End of Time), I also have a newfound appreciation for Houston!
So I thought it fitting to offer a bit of Texas flavor with today’s Bombshell, Katrelle:

The Southern Belle says, “It’s so hard to describe my style because it goes in so many directions. For the most part, it’s always pretty and polished.”

“I’m a lover of every style era imaginable and don’t look to any one source for inspiration.”

“I comb through magazines and people watch wherever I go, so that’s a great source when I want to take my fashion places I may not have thought of.”

“My family, friends and people I meet always look to me as a source of inspiration on what to wear or how to make it all work.”

“Aside from fashion, I dream of cooking, decked out in the most fabulous pieces, running around an inviting kitchen with friends and conversation, cookbooks slung on the counter, 6-inch heels on my feet, bringing the most exquisite dishes to those who may not get to experience fine dining on a regular basis….”

“It’s all about making every experience GLAM and fashion allows you to do so…stay tuned…KOOKING with Katrelle…COMING SOON….”

Cute looks! Will keep an eye out.

Real Style: The Rocawear Style Suite

Morning Bombshells!

Yesterday the lovely folks over at Rocawear invited me to their Style Suite, a gathering to look at the brand’s relaunched fall line.

In between glimpsing Rocawear’s re-imagined jeans, tees, and button downs, I captured a few stylish peeps with photographer Rog Walker. You ready?

I first said hey to Gabriel of Stuff Fly People Like and Mecca from Pynk Mag. Mecca was representing fiercely with a gorgeous afro, acid washed jeans, and cute leopard print wedges. Gabe kicked back in a t-shirt and jeans.

Melissa was serving up sass in an Esprit dress and shoes from Mandee. She asked why I wanted to take her picture, and I had to admit I loved her hair, glasses, and bold accessories. Fierce!

I said hey to my new friend Bobby Roaché. If he looks familiar, it’s because he played the guy Beyonce got another one” of in her video for “Irreplaceable.” Isn’t he cute? See him in action here and check out his modeling portfolio here.

Model and actor Kalon and Adam were also on hand to sample the new gear.

And no post would be complete without the Rocawear ladies themselves! Carmegie and Aleesha looked super chic in their readers. Aleesha was working vintage Rocawear and bangles; Carmegie flaunted a Max Azria white dress and *sick* neon sandals.

It was fun!

If you’re wondering about what I wore, I took a few pix for a Style Diary. Stay tuned for the breakdown!

Guys, keep your eyes peeled for hotness from Rocawear at www.rocawear.com. Or just stay tuned to the Bomb:)

Style Diary: High Slits and Shades

So aside from the colorblocking trend, I am a huge fan of this season’s high slits! The look is endlessly saucy, easy, and breezy. So for yesterday’s Rocawear Style Suite, I pulled on my new favorite Helmut Lang Asymmetrical Long Skirt.

I dare you not to feel like a hot momma in one of these!

The design is super simple (and perhaps could be a DIY project for you ambitious bombshells), but that high slit is just like bam! There’s my leg.

I wore it with a casual white Helmut Lang racerback tank, and added a few bold accents like Lia Sophia earrings, a Topshop Fabric Multirow Necklace, Dolce & Gabbana Animalier shades (yep the ones Naomi wore in this adJ’adore!)….

Along with a La Mer watch from DJPremium.com and a loose spike ring from Patricia Field:

The skirt is actually quite long, so high heels are very necessary. After my bunion surgery, super crazy stilettos are kind of out of the question, so I popped on my Kaisa Wedges by Leifsdottir:

What do you think?

PS I took a reader’s advice to do something different with my hair. Do you like?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Sara from Atlanta

Today’s Bombshell is Sara aka Saj from Atlanta, GA:

She says, “I’m a pro Makeup Artist from the Caribbean (Antigua) and recently relocated to Atlanta GA.”

” I’ve never really been able to describe my style, apart from a heavy shoe addiction (seriously…bad shoe addiction..bad but good :D)”

“…I pick my outfits based on what shoe I want to wear today, or what color I’m feeling, what mood I’m in, sometimes I like to go vintage glam 50’s or Madonna 80’s.”

“…I love mixing colors, prints, and textures.”

“I love love love color, being from an island that is naturally so colorful it easily influenced my style and creativity.”

“I’m also a fan of ‘reworking’ an item, be it a graphic T wearing it casual then dressing it up, I don’t care about “wearing the same item twice” I bought it because I love it!!!! So watch me wear it out! “

“I’m curious to see if and how Atlanta may influence my style now being exposed to a new culture! Apart from the different winter attire!”

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Sharlene from LA

We offer you a bit of celebrity respite with today’s Bombshell, Sharlene from LA:

The jewelry designer for Zoe Love Designs says, “My look is constantly changing but I can honestly say my style is strongly influenced by sub and ethnic cultures.

“… It’s not a coincidence if you find some sort of tribal pattern or ankara designs in my outfit.”

” Whether I am in the mood for a 60’s look, 80’s or 1940’s styled outfit there is always an ethnic accessory or two thrown in the mix to give my outfit a tribal edge.”

“This tribal edge is what I thrive to incorporate into my jewelry line.”

Ok! Will definitely have to check out your line at www.zoelove.bigcartel.com.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Rebecca from London

We’re starting off this week of Bombshells with a bang with Rebecca from London:

The Global Street Ambassador candidate for Elle Magazine & Guess Jeans says, “My style is everyday wear for everyday gurls 🙂

“All my outfits are styled from pieces I bought at my local mall.”

“…I love fashion and since moving to London, I sometimes feel like I’ve died and gone to fashion heaven :)”

” London fashion is such a mix mash of cultures and styles, you’re bound to find inspiration just walking down the street.”

” My best fashion tip: Fashion is what YOU make it, be creative, be expressive, let your personality shine.”

“…I hope you like these looks as much as I enjoyed putting them together xx”

We did! See more of Rebecca at www.everydaygurl.com and vote for her to be Global Street Ambassador for Elle Magazine & Guess Jeans here.

Today I give you Katherine, a diva from Denver, Colorado by way of Accra, Ghana:

She was actually nominated by her friend Akua, who says, “I met her while I was an undergrad, she was getting her masters.”

” We quickly bonded over our love for our motherland of Ghana and fashion.”

” She is such an all-round intelligent, fashionable, and lovely person who looks fly everyday-even at the gym!”

” I would say that her style encompasses many bold African prints, big chunky statement pieces (necklaces,) and her signature frames.”

“… As of 2011-she is officially a diplomat!”
