Today’s Bombshell, Mia from North Carolina, was submitted by her friend Cecelia:

Cecelia says, “Mia has a sense of style that’s classic but has a modern twist.”

“… She effortlessly combines timeless pieces with things that may be a bit trendy and knocks it out of the park every time.”

“… Sometimes she’s laid back, and sometimes she’s a bit glamorous…”

“… but whatever look she goes for, she’s always able to make a statement.”

” She blogs at followmetofashion.blogspot.com …”

“…where she gives tips on fashion, beauty, and anything else that’s on her mind.”

“Pleeeease feature her! :-)”

OK! Classic with a twist is spot on. Love that blue dress.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Sai from Virginia

Happy Monday Bombshells!
I’m in NYC for a spell before flying off to Paris! But our Bombshell Beauty keeps on ticking with Sai from Virginia:

The former Real Style subject and blogger for www.becauseIamfabulous.com didn’t provide much in terms of a style description:

She wrote, “I started blogging 8 months ago…”

“… and one of the sites that really inspired me was Fashionbombdaily!”

“I would be so flattered to be featured on here.”

” Thanks so much!”

No, thank you for a near flawless submission. You’re a diva, work those shades!!

What do you think?

Claire’s Life: Essence Magazine’s 5th Annual Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Happy Friday!

So last week I was asked by Lincoln to join them as their special guest at Essence Magazine’s 5th Annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon . Though I had planned to be in Milan for Fashion Week, I’d heard the event was motivational and inspirational–basically something I wouldn’t want to miss! So at the end of London Fashion Week, I hopped on an 11 hour flight and popped into LA to see what was what:

After resting for a day at the W Los Angeles, our blogger group, which included Angel of Concrete Loop, Jamishia from The YBF, Christen from Divas and Dorks, Latoicha of Luxe Tips, and Gerald of Eurweb, went to the Beverly Hills Hotel to enjoy a day honoring the film industry’s finest African-American writers, directors, and actresses.

To say the event was star studded would be an understatement. From Kelly Rowland to Jill Scott to Tasha Smith, the room was bubbling over with black stars.

I made my way around the room to say hey to a few:

20120224-060135.jpg

In the Lincoln Lounge, I caught up with Jurnee Smollett, who looked sophisticated in pearly purple chiffon.

I also said hey to Love That Girl star and classmate Tatyana Ali. She was covering her dress a bit, but it was bananas. The cutouts were amazing!

Then inside the venue..

I caught up with cutie Tika Sumpter, who epitomized chic in black lace.

I complimented Jill Scott on her fly new hair style. The asymmetrical cut looks gorge, no?

And then I snapped a picture with new redhead Tracee Ellis Ross, Yvette Nicole Brown of NBC’s the Community, and my blogging buddy Marie Denee aka The Curvy Fashionista. Tracee’s dress made me gasp with joy (it’s vintage, from Resurrection).

And of course I had to say congratulations to two of the day’s honorees, including Paula Patton, the recipient of the Shining Star Award:

And Kerry Washington who won the Vanguard Award:

During her acceptance speech, Kerry Washington said, “There really is room for all of us. There really is a need for all of us.” The sense of appreciation and sisterhood in the room was palpable. I left feeling encouraged to continue to strive for the best in my industry and in life!

With all the fashion week madness I didn’t have much time to shop for my outfit, so decided to snag a piece from the Mary Katrantzou x Topshop collection during a lull in London:

Keeping with my ‘British Designer’ theme, I accented with an on trend neon pair of Kurt Geiger Greek Leather sandals from Liberty London (my new favorite British department store):

And added a bit of pizazz with a Cashhimi clutch, a gold cuff, a spiked necklace, and Girl about Town MAC pink lipstick.

What do you think?

Stay tuned for more pictures from the event. And many thanks to Lincoln and The Chamber Group for extending this amazing invitation.

Smootches!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Leonette from DC

Closing out this fashionable week is Leonette from DC
20120217-040017.jpg
She says, “If I had to describe my style, I would describe it as diverse.”

20120217-040526.jpg
“… I don’t subscribe to any one fashion mantra and very frequently bounce from one category to another depending on my mood or what I got going on. I easily go from conservative/sophisticated, classic, simple, casual chic to funky, sexy, high end, vibrant and trendy.”

20120217-040611.jpg
“… I love the idea of balancing conservative roles without compromising my love of fashion and style!”

20120217-040652.jpg
” One of my goals with my blog is to inspire young women who have many responsibilities and have somehow lost themselves and fashion sense in their individual roles.”

20120217-040718.jpg
” I don’t believe it’s a contradiction to be an excellent parent, ambitious professional and fashionista all at the same time!”

20120217-040746.jpg
“…I started a personal style and lifestyle blog, Milk and Honeeyz (www.milkandhoneeyz.blogspot.com), as an outlet for me to share my personal style and experiences as a young mother, attorney, single woman and fashion lover.”

20120217-040809.jpg
You have a very diverse style! My favorite might have to be your striped skirt and colorful top combo. Tres chic!

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Fall 2012 Fashion Week Day 6

So the other day I was blessed to attend the Oscar de la Renta show at 42nd street (review to come!). I continued with my classic predilections by pulling on a black turtleneck bodysuit by Wolford along with a black ruffle hem short wool jacket by Plutocracy:

I added a bit of interest with an Akin skirt by Busayo, along with black tights, and House of Harlow Neena Suede Platform Booties in Black:

Oscar de la Renta is very glamorous, so I incorporated a bit of glamour with a vintage crystal necklace and Alexis Bittar earrings. And of course I slipped on a beret for warmth (I love berets. This one didn’t quite match, but I didn’t care).

I stacked everything in my Givenchy, and was on my way.

Eh ben, voila! My last Style Diary of Fashion Week (phew!). What do you think?

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Fall 2012 Fashion Week Day 5

Happy Almost End of Fashion Week!
The other day I had a four hour gap in between shows, so headed downtown to my favorite restaurant, Café Felix, to get some blogging done:

At Felix, I can always find a quiet sun drenched corner to tap away, nibble, sip, and reflect on the day:

For my several hour layover, I ordered escargot (yum!) and a glass of prosecco.
As for my outfit, I went for simplicity in a white t-shirt from J.Crew, my Helmut Lang blazer, and a gold pendant necklace by Jenny Bird from Michelle New York:

I added some glam with a pleated gold skirt by Elie Tahari along with a pair of vintage Lanvin chain strap pumps:

I also pulled on a Rag & Bone floppy brim Fedora and a spot of Lady Danger Lipstick:

Then it was off to my next show. I stuffed my invites into a Cashhimi bag (the same one I wore on day 2), and slipped on my trusty Andrew Marc coat:

And there you have it. What do you think?

*Cafe Felix is located at 340 West Broadway.
