Style Inspiration: 3 Ways to Wear Christian Louboutin Bollywoody Pumps

Cici writes, “I have the pink Christian Louboutin Bollywoody Peep Toe Pumps and want to wear them to my nephew’s high school graduation. Can you suggest something I can rock with them? Obviously I want to look fabulous. 🙂 Thanks!!!”
Well, if you want to look fab, we’ll surely oblige!
If you want to play it safe, the obvious choice is to wear a solid colored dress, so that the pumps pop on their own. Of course cream or black would work, but you can add a little extra pizzazz with a dress that picks up on the color of your stilettos:

Since Bollywoody pumps are a super splurge at $2,795, I decided to offset the overall cost of your outfit with a $92 Drape Front dress from Topshop. Complete the look with subdued accessories, like a cream metal bar envelope clutch from ASOS. Have a little fun with your eye makeup:

The second look is a little bit more adventurous. I’m not sure how this would work in real life, but I know I love D&G’s printed foulard silk skirt:

The print picks up on the color of the shoes, and has a similar fun and festive design. Keep the color going with an orange top, then tone it all down with a white blazer:

Lastly, go for truly bold in a patterned dress that picks up on Bollywoody’s pink and blue tones:

Complete with simple accessories, like a vintage Chanel bag and sweet pearl studs:

What do you think? Which look would you rock?
Before I inevitably receive a deluge of “What to Wear” requests for every ‘statement’ shoe in your closets, follow the following tips for wildcard heels:
1. Use the heels as an exclamation point to a neutral outfit. For flawless execution, make sure the dress or top and pant combo either complements or features one of the colors of the shoe.

2. If wearing your shoes with a printed top or bottom, make sure one of the prints picks up on the colors in your heels.

3. The same rule applies for dresses. You can indeed pair statement heels with a statement dress, as long as both pieces share complimentary colors or patterns:

Do you have anything to add?

Splurge: Kim Kardashian’s 2012 E! Upfront Azzedine Alaia Half Moon Dress

You know the Kardashians run E! and thus they were the big stars at the network’s 2012 Upfront in New York City. For the occasion, Kim rocked her beloved Jimmy Choo Imogen Caged Sandals with a $3,177 Azzedine Alaia Half Moon Dress:

Her sleeveless dress features an all-over half moon pattern, zip-front, fitted waistline to accentuate her curves, and a balloon skirt.

She wore her $1,295 Jimmy Choo Imogen Caged Sandals just two days ago.

You guys had a lot to say about the above look and the fact that it was too mundane, but Kimmy definitely got it right with this dress! When Alaia is worn properly, it’s always a win in the style department.

If you’re up for the splurge, you can get her dress at www.colette.fr.

What do you think? Are you feeling Kim’s look this time around?

Wardrobe Query: Monica Brown’s New Orleans Wildcats vs. Cardinals National Anthem Performance Cynthia Rowley Liquefied Floral Bouquet Blazer

Crystal says, “ I saw this picture of Monica and I fell in love with her jacket!”

“I know the picture is a little old, but can you help me find it?”
Monica sang the National Anthem Singer at the Kentucky Wildcats vs Cardinals National Semifinals game in New Orleans rocking a $425 Cynthia Rowley Liquefied Bouquet tuxedo blazer:

She completed the look with turquoise skinnies and Christian Louboutin Bourriche Studded Ankle Boots:

I dunno, I think I kinda like this look!

The jacket, at least, is a win win.

Naomi Campbell to Star in Oxygen’s New Reality Show ‘The Face’

It seems Naomi Campbell is headed to the small screen, mentoring young model hopefuls on Oxygen’s new reality show, ‘The Face.’

The show will feature models competing to become the next face of a major national brand. Naomi Campbell will act as a mentor as the girls pose for their lives with world renowned photographers and stylists for commercials, photo shoots, and runway shows. Sounds a lot like America’s Next Top Model…

About her new gig, Campbell said, “I am looking forward to working in partnership with Oxygen and Shine America to discover the next beautiful face of the modeling world. With ‘The Face’ the audience will get a real insider’s look at this exciting industry that has been so good to me. One lucky girl will become the face of a major brand.” I think Naomi C would make for great TV.
I’ll be watching.

Will you?

Hot! or Hmm…: Rihanna’s New York City Ksubi Graphic Tee

Rihanna is back in NYC and was seen out and about sans makeup, rocking a $80 Ksubi Tee:

Her tee features the fun phrase, “If I were riding a horse I’d wear flannel, but I’m going to the disco so I wear Channel.” Poking fun at one of the world’s most popular brands are we?

It isn’t available for purchase, but I am guessing Rih Rih picked it up during her Australian pursuits for “Battleship” since the brand hails from the Land Down Under.

The brand’s $80 “Royalty, Terrorism, and the Tweets” tee is a similar, controversial option.

Sigh. Rihanna is back to her denim on denim! I think the tee is awesome and I’m not even mad at the boyfriend jeans, but this look is definitely in need of a heel or some fly sneakers, as well as a leather jacket. Hmmm on those dusty flats, Rih, we know you can do better.

You ready for today’s Bombshell?
Check out Ada from New York:

The blogger for www.gypsyinthecity.com says, “I consider myself a style chameleon.”

” One day you will see me and I might look like a pinup girl from the 50’s, the next day I’ll be dressed Boho Chic, and the day after that I’ll have high tops or oxfords on.”

” I do the same thing with my hair in makeup. You will see me with a head full of curls one day, and the next day I will have pin straight hair.”

“… I believe accessories, hair and makeup can make or break your outfit. Go big or go home. Your outfit can’t look great yet your hair is a mess and your face looks washed out. It just doesn’t work.”

“I would describe my style as classy, feminine, colorful, and fun.”

” I know my body well and I try to dress for my curvy Latina shape and size.”

“I believe that our femininity will always be men’s weakness. Embrace every beautiful curve.”

” Enjoy being a girl, behave like a lady, cherish your femininity and know that your are special.”

” Above all aspire to be more that just a pretty face or the designer handbag and shoes you wear.”

” If a woman is sufficiently ambitious, determined, and gifted, there is practically nothing she can’t do! :)”

You better preach, girl! Love your looks, but love your words even more. Definitely checking out your blog!

Fashion Bomb TV: How to Break into Fashion with Boutique Owner Blake Scotland

Happy Tuesday!
So last week I decided to do our very first on camera Breaking into Fashion interview with boutique owner Blake Scotland.

The young Georgetown graduate is the proprietor of her eponymous men’s and women’s contemporary boutique located at 62 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side.

I tapped her to offer a few tips to you aspiring store owners out there.

Take a look:

What do you think?
For my on camera moment, I decided to embrace this season’s neon trend with a flat chiffon top by Mara Hoffman, accented by Rag & Bone colorblock skinnies (previously worn by Ashanti here), and my Kurt Geiger Greek Sandals (I also wore them to Essence’s Women in Hollywood Luncheon).

I toned down all my patterns with an H&M conscious white denim jacket, and a pop of bright pink MAC Impassioned lipstick.

As far as jewelry, I wore a few of my faves, including bling hoops from Shop Loveys, a Melody Ehsani I’m Fly ring, and a Noisegirl bracelet I copped at Blake Scotland.

And there you have it!

Thoughts?
*Because you made it to the end of this post, Blake and I decided to collabo and give away an item carried in her store: these funky glasses by designer Samantha Smikle (retail value $145).

I’m still unsure if I can pull those off, but I’m sure one of you can!
Leave a comment and we’ll pick a winner at random. If you don’t want to win, please indicate so in your comment! The contest ends Wednesday May, 2nd at 12pm EST. And in the meantime, you should also check out more of Samantha’s work at shoptnemnroda.com. She’s offering Fashion Bomb readers 20% off until May 15th with the code “FashionBombMay.”
Smootches!

Splurge: Solange Knowles’s Gucci GQ Cocktail Party Spring 2012 Drape Neck Top, Colorblock Mini Skirt, and Ophelie T-Strap Sandals

Solange Knowles turned out to DJ the Gucci GQ Cocktail party last night, appropriately clad in a few well plucked Gucci pieces. She blessed the night in $1,495 Ophelie T-strap sandals, along with a metallic zebra stripe blazer, a $1,195 colorblock miniskirt with band inset, and a $650 drape neck top.

Her 100% silk drape neck top also comes in basic black.

Her natural white and black silk cotton skirt features a block of radzmire with bronze leather.

Her sandals have two chain straps and a decorated heel.

While the outfit is undoubtedly Hot! on its own, that skirt is a little short, no?
