Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 5

Ready for one of my last style diaries for NYFW?

I’ll admit that my silhouettes and hemlines have been on the saucy side this Fashion Week, so for day 5, I decided to reign it in with a more demure knee length kelly green A-line number by Prabal Gurung (courtesy of Rent the Runway).

I was going for an editor/Jackie O type vibe, so kept everything simple, accessorizing with Kate Spade Gumdrop studs, my Prada sunglasses, and my Givenchy bag (I dunno if you can tell, but I get a lot of use out of my investment pieces).

I added interest with my new babies: a pair of Valentino zebra haircalf shoes with a reasonable kitten heel.

Then I was off to attend a whopping 5 shows.

I have three shows today, then I’m off to London on Friday!

At any rate, the somewhat long, demure silhouettes is clearly not one of my go-tos, but I think it worked.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: NAzzi TWazzi from Philly

Today’s Bombshell is NAzzi TWazzi from Philly:

She says, “I’ve been a fan of Fashion Bomb Daily for so long now.”

:…I finally mustered up the guts to send in my photos for the Fashion Bombshell of the Day.”

” My name is NAzzi TWazzi from Philadelphia (pride and joy).”

“My style is edgy, over the top.”

” I do things people are afraid to do.”

” I may have an edgy style…”

“…but I do everything gracefully.”

Edgy? Over the top? I can see that! Hats off for being so courageous. I really like your Swag shirt and fringed skirt.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 4

It’s been pretty hot in NYC, so I decided to stop the madness with the blazers and sweaters, and go for ease in a simple Balenciaga Sphinx t-shirt from their Egyptofunk collection.

Black and black is always chic, so I accented the look with an Alexander Wang Croc Effect leather mini, but set it all off with white Alexander Wang Joan pumps (previously worn here).

The look skewed a little rocker chic, so I accented with a Tiffany’s cuff, multi metal bracelet, and a cuff from Bruce & Glen. Oh and I can’t forget my go-to Givenchy bag.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Ashley from Dallas

Fashion Week is in full force, but we always make time for our daily Bombshell feature!
Take a look at Ashley from Dallas, Texas:

She says, “To satisfy my fashion obsession, I have started a fashion blog recently called crowninglooks.com.”

” I would describe my personal style as very feminine…”

” fun…”

” and polished.”

” I like mixing trends and classics…”

“… new and vintage pieces…”

“… and discounts with high end.”

” I do consider the world as my runway!”

Cute! I enjoy your printed pieces and am loving your maxi skirt.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 3

For Day 3, I married my love of blazers and preppy skirts with color in a printed cardigan from Zara along with a Karl Saatchi pleated faux leather mini skirt.

I slipped a simple Helmut Lang tank underneath it all, and accented with a J.Crew necklace, my fave Stella McCartney Falabella bag, and my Kurt Geiger pin heel sling backs (previously worn here).

I really haven’t been studying my Youtube braid style tutorials like I should, so pulled my braids into an unimaginative low ponytail.

Chic, simple, and slightly saucy. Just the way I like it:)

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 2

While I opted for schoolgirl chic on Day 1, I felt Day 2 called for color!

The kind folks over at Rent the Runway were nice enough to send over a few dresses for me to flaunt during Fashion Week, and I was instantly drawn to Thakoon’s So Electrifying Dress (retail $990, rental $125):

I loved the hot pink color and the saucy peak of leg! The dress was a little racy for daytime, so I decided to tone it down a bit with a similarly vibrant yellow Theory Stretch Cotton blazer, and complete with a bold lime Proenza Schouler PS1, and neon orange Christian Louboutin wedges (at the end of the day, it’s all about comfort).

I’ve been playing around with a few different hairstyles for Fashion Week, so opted to pull my braids into a high pony to let the outfit play center stage.

A few swipes of MAC’s cremesheen glass lusher, richer gloss, and I was ready to take on the day!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Jaleska from Houston

Happy Friday! We’re closing out this week with Jaleska from Houston, Texas:

She types, “My Name is Jaleska aka “J’Mulan” From Houston, Texas, but I reside in Baton Rouge (I’m a freshmen attending Southern Baton Rouge University).”

” The way I Describe my style is simply Unique and Dope.”

” I am inspired by Teyana Taylor–the way she expresses herself in a girly chic or Tomboy way.”

“… I Love fashion. I love to turn heads and keep people anxiously awaiting on what my next outfit will be.”

” I don’t categorize my style or put my style in a certain group.I feel like I’ve [cultivated] my style in a unique way because it’s simply me.”

Cute! You have a tomboy style I totally dig. And you can tell you dress for yourself–not for other people.

Real Style: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 1

While I was off attending shows, Fashion Bomb photographer Marta McAdams was on the scene, capturing chic moments with stylish attendees.

Take a look:

These friends sizzled in a patterned outfit, Céline bag, and YSL belt on the left and a Givenchy accented ensemble on the right. Fashion Week goers certainly cling to labels, but always add their own unique spins, as these two display.

Kitty popped in a hot pink maxi skirt, accented by a floral blouse. Cute!

Charie looked positively gorgeous in a black blazer and top, along with a pair of printed wide leg trousers. Her eye liner and red lip only added to her allure. Hot!

Black on black is always chic, and Karl knew the score! He worked a black top, boots, and pants. His main accessory? His mohawk.

Marshana also bet on all black, made unique by swaths of floating pink fabric.

Ade celebrated her birthday in a fun sequined top, urging everyone in attendance to “Say No to Drugs.”

Jean Claude and Sai of the blog Because I am Fabulous always come ready to be photographed! Sai’s green turban and sunglasses added an unexpected quirkiness to her regal printed gown. I’m loving Jean Claude’s sophisticated facial hair!

Martin and Rosemary also came to be snapped. Their African printed pieces certainly add interest to their looks.

This young lady embraced chic simplicity in a white top and black skirt, uplifted by a Tiger Print Zara blazer.

While some guests are more low key, others opt for opulence. Get into Eva’s Givenchy silver chiffon and sequin peplum jacket and Chanel Fall 2012 shoes. I am literally drooling at her hotness! She is not playing!

Fashion Week ladies love turbans! This diva let a printed headpiece accent an all black look.

And blogger and occasional Fashion Bomb contributor Joy Adaeze also chose the funky look, and went for comfort in two toned oxfords.

Kwasy skewed cool in printed pants and a preppy blazer.

And lastly, these three ladies truly went for classic chic, in shifts and reasonable heels.
As you can see, Fashion Week outfits can be relaxed or buttoned up, goth or glam. The only rule at Lincoln Center is to dress according to your mood and personality. You can’t go wrong!

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 1

Hey there Bombers and Bombshells!
This morning I hightailed it over to Lincoln Center to attend the BCBG and Richard Chai shows. Fashion Week is such an exciting time, and Day 1 literally felt like the first day of school for me! I decided to bless the occasion with a schoolgirl inspired outfit, including a 3.1 Phillip Lim KA-POW Comic-Print Sweater and a Milly Delphine flared leather skirt:

Yes, I had my own Style Inspiration to Reality moment! After writing our What to Wear to Fashion Week Style Inspiration, I’d been dreaming of the sweater, so decided to splurge for the first day back at fashion school.

I also decided to try a new hairstyle!

Yesss! I was tired of curling and crimping my dreads and felt I had exhausted all my ‘updo’ options, so opted for no muss, no fuss braids. Don’t worry, my dreads are still under there! The magical hair stylists at Noel New York were able to braid over my hair. I’m excited to have fun with this style and not worry about twisting for all of Fashion Month!
At any rate…Ka-Pow, there you have it!
