Fashion Discussion: Do You Care About Runway Shows?

As I decompress after spending almost a month ingesting show after show in London, Milan, New York, and Paris, I wonder: are you, the Fashion Bomb reader, into runway fashion?

Sure, colors and trends trickle down from the catwalk, dictating what will be available in Barney’s, Saks, or even H&M the following season (cue oxblood). But is this something that matters to you? Do you need to know what will be hot next season? Or are you only about what will ‘pop’ right now?

Prada Spring 2013

From my experience, it seems a large number of luxury houses are not particularly interested in appealing to the multicultural customers on this site.

Stella McCartney Spring 2013

Even after our exhaustive and sometimes daily posts about everything from Givenchy to Roberto Cavalli to Balmain or even Kenzo…unfortunately few, if any, extended us an invite to personally report on their runway presentations.

No love from Givenchy

But then again there are others–Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Burberry…who are big fans, and have requested our presence every season.

Burberry Loves the Fashion Bomb

I love fashion with a passion, and enjoy the rush of attending a show, tweeting or instagramming interesting pix, and transferring that excitement to you. But if you don’t care, then why should we?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Cynthia from Miami

We’re keeping it Southern today with Madame Cynthia from Miami, Florida:

She says, “ I’m a college graduate whose personality is goofy…”

“…and sexy at the same time.”

” My style is chic yet sexy with a pop of color”

” and animal print.”

” Miami is HOT 99% of the time…”

“… so skin is always part of my wardrobe.”

Rock on with your bad self! I would’ve liked to see a few more casual ensembles, but you’ve got the ‘vixen’ look down pat. Love your lime green maxi with the leopard belt.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Shanon from Virginia

Check out today’s Bombshell, native Virginian, Shanon:

She says, “I just moved to New York City from Virginia around three weeks ago.

” I would say my style is a blend between eclectic and chic.”

“… I’m super into art, indie music, and photography so they each influence my style differently.”

” But being a fashion major it is definitely important to always maintain a sense of chic.”

” I’m always on the go so I wear a lot of pieces that can transition easily around the days activities. Feeling comfortable is a must, besides shorts, I don’t believe in wearing denim, so my entire pants collection consists of high -waists, slacks, and harems(lol).”

” I love the aesthetic of nappy hair and wearing the same bundle bracelets/ rings for days at a time!”

” I have a blog (www.kissmyfashion.org) about fashion..a little d.i.y, music, and dope stuff I find around NYC.”

Ok! You certainly embody the eclectic look of an artist and fashion student!

Style Diary: Paris Spring 2013 Fashion Week

Hey!
So after taking street style, I met up with photographer Guillaume Landry to document my outfit for the day.

Yes, add me to the list of fashion enthusiasts who bought Kenzo’s iconic tiger sweatshirt. I really thought I was special when I snagged one of Opening Ceremony’s last two sweatshirts at their Soho store, but it seems everyday I see someone wearing it! That said, I added my own colorful twist by pairing mine with blue pants from ASOS and my Proenza Schouler lime PS1.

I normally would’ve worn my Kurt Geiger pin heels, but I broke those (!), so slipped on my spotted Charlotte Olympia’s.

I pulled my hair into a high pony, slipped on a green necklace from Zara, then was on my way to the next show.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Elissa from New Jersey

We’re closing out this week with Elissa from New Jersey!

She writes, “I would say my style is trendy on a budget.”

” I keep up with all the latest trends and find them for less.”

” I look at a magazine displaying high end fashion and say to myself ‘Oh I can def find that at H&M and Forever 21.'”

“… I have a blog (seventhdayvanity.com) and an instagram account @7thdaybanity where I show outfit ideas and I provide links to where you can get each piece displayed.”

” One piece of advice I give girls is there is no need to have a closet full of clothes if they are not versatile.”

” Every girl needs statements pieces that can be worn over and over again in many different ways.”

” This season I would say invest in a good pair of leather pants, a tweed jacket, a pair of leopard shoes, and a statement necklace. These items can be considered your seasons statements pieces and can be worn time and time again ALL season long 🙂

Great advice! Your looks are classic without being over the top. I like!
