Style Diary: London Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 1

So I’m in London!

Thus far, I’ve attended a great number of shows, including Issa, Marios Schwab, Rag & Bone, and Moschino Cheap & Chic. I’m off today to Burberry (wee!).
My schedule is actually pretty light, so I’ve been able to take in a few London monuments, like Buckingham Palace.

It’s been quite chilly in Londontown, so I decided to pair a Faith Connexion Annabelle Dexter-Jones crepe jumpsuit with a few UK accessories: a pair of Charlotte Olympia Leopard and Zebra Foal Jenny Court Shoes and my Stella McCartney bag.

And no, your eyes don’t deceive you! I tried a new hairstyle. My scalp has finally gotten a bit used to the braids, so I attempted a braid bun, thanks to this Youtube tutorial.

How did I do?
A dash of MAC Morange and a pair of Tom Ford cat eye Nikita sunglasses, and I was good to go!

What do you think?

*Later on, I grabbed drinks with friends, and switched out my huge tote for a smaller printed clutch from Urban Outfitters.

Which bag works better?

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Asiff from Florida

It’s been a little while since we’ve had both a Bomber and Bombshell, so I decided to feature two readers today.
Check out Asiff from Orlando, Florida:

He types, “To me having a sense of style is a way of life.”

” Personally, I don’t put a cap on my style.”

“…what really plays a major part is the way the clothes works with my body.”

” I’m a slim guy so rather than picking up something because its a hot commodity…”

“… it first has to fit the way I want it to, which is slim and fitted.”

” I’m very picky so the fit is the key to my style.”

” I also like playing with different patterns and drawing inspirations from New York urban trends and making it my own with more tailored fits such as those from European countries.”

” My dream is to become a stylist some day but for now I’m styling myself.”

See more about my looks from my blog Man VS Threads (www.manvsthreads.blogspot.com)”

You are correct! Fit is super important.

Show Review: Duro Olowu Spring 2013

Let’s face it: virtually every designer does prints. Out of all of the hundreds each season, I bestow Duro Olowu with the title of my favorite print master. He has a way of being fashion forward and bold, yet so breathtaking even the most timid would want to try his pieces on for size. He paired all of his latest designs for Spring 2013 with nude pumps to let his eye-popping dresses and separates have their own stage.

Though Spring is normally characterized by bare thighs and midriffs, Olowu kept the hemlines long and the silhouettes quite covered. Long sleeves played on printed contrast-pattern lapel blazers and no button was left undone on dresses where lengths fell slightly above the knee.

How many prints can one mix? There were no bounds here, creating a kind of patchwork effect with varying florals, abstract patterns, graphic prints and more.

Will any stylish stars be brave enough to wear his gowns on the red carpet? I would love to see Joan Smalls or Jessica Alba work them!

What do you think? Did any looks catch your eye?

I’m inspired by celebrity street fashion and runway looks. I incorporate all the things I see and love and make it work for myself.”

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 5

Ready for one of my last style diaries for NYFW?

I’ll admit that my silhouettes and hemlines have been on the saucy side this Fashion Week, so for day 5, I decided to reign it in with a more demure knee length kelly green A-line number by Prabal Gurung (courtesy of Rent the Runway).

I was going for an editor/Jackie O type vibe, so kept everything simple, accessorizing with Kate Spade Gumdrop studs, my Prada sunglasses, and my Givenchy bag (I dunno if you can tell, but I get a lot of use out of my investment pieces).

I added interest with my new babies: a pair of Valentino zebra haircalf shoes with a reasonable kitten heel.

Then I was off to attend a whopping 5 shows.

I have three shows today, then I’m off to London on Friday!

At any rate, the somewhat long, demure silhouettes is clearly not one of my go-tos, but I think it worked.

:…I finally mustered up the guts to send in my photos for the Fashion Bombshell of the Day.”

” My name is NAzzi TWazzi from Philadelphia (pride and joy).”

“My style is edgy, over the top.”

” I do things people are afraid to do.”

” I may have an edgy style…”

“…but I do everything gracefully.”

Edgy? Over the top? I can see that! Hats off for being so courageous. I really like your Swag shirt and fringed skirt.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week Day 4

It’s been pretty hot in NYC, so I decided to stop the madness with the blazers and sweaters, and go for ease in a simple Balenciaga Sphinx t-shirt from their Egyptofunk collection.

Black and black is always chic, so I accented the look with an Alexander Wang Croc Effect leather mini, but set it all off with white Alexander Wang Joan pumps (previously worn here).

The look skewed a little rocker chic, so I accented with a Tiffany’s cuff, multi metal bracelet, and a cuff from Bruce & Glen. Oh and I can’t forget my go-to Givenchy bag.

” fun…”

” and polished.”

” I like mixing trends and classics…”

“… new and vintage pieces…”

“… and discounts with high end.”

” I do consider the world as my runway!”

Cute! I enjoy your printed pieces and am loving your maxi skirt.
