Claire’s Life: The Apollo Theater’s Dining with The Divas Charity Luncheon Featuring Veronica Webb in Sergio Hudson, Claire Sulmers in Hanifa, Kamilah Forbes in Enagacio, and More!

Happy Friday, Bombers and Bombshells!

Yesterday Morning, I was blessed to attend my first Dining with the Divas charity luncheon at the legendary Apollo Theater!

The Dining with the Divas Luncheon raises funds for School Day Live, a signature Apollo program that offers live performances for K-12 students and detailed resources for both teaching and learning about those performances. For many young people, this is their first experience with live, professional performances. The program extends the “Apollo Experience” to school-aged children – connecting new generations of theatergoers, bringing topics and traditionally unheard voices to the forefront, and inviting them not only as audience members but also active participants. Due to the Apollo’s generous donors, all presentations are offered at no cost to the schools or participants and have been reimagined to present a hybrid of virtual and in-person productions.

With giving back to their communities on their agenda, the ladies of the luncheon came to slay! Take a look:

Bombshell Tyler slayed in an Silvia Tcherassi Inu Brushstroke Tunic. Fabulous!

Executive Producer of the Apollo, Kamilah Forbes, was sharp in an Enagacio suit.

The leading ladies for the Apollo and event host were fabulous! From left: Joan Haffenreffer, Apollo Theater President and CEO Jonelle Procope, Sheinelle Jones, Carolyn “Cookie” Minick-Mason, Terri Borden, and Executive Producer of the Apollo, Kamilah Forbes.

Model Veronica Webb posed with designer Sergio Hudson in a suit of his design.

As for me:

I debuted Hanifa’s Claire Maxi Dress, because it has a great name!

I posed with Dee Poku, who gave a speech about investing in black businesses.

I also said hey to friends, like my Harvard homegirl Azhar Richmond.

It was a beautiful and stylish event for a great cause!

Christian Siriano Fall 2023 is an Ode to Audrey Hepburn and Old Hollywood Glamor

When it comes to glamor, you are going to get it from Christian Siriano. As one of the first designers to jet back to his signature lush post-lockdown, his Black Tie beauty and general over-the-top drama continue within his latest collection.

Siriano references the collection as a sexier take on ‘Aubrey Hepburn’s rose garden.’ There were pink, purple, and white roses lining the runway and filling the air with their lovely scent as the show notes featured the iconic actress’ image.

On the runway, models like Ya Jagne, Jocelyn Corona, and Coco Rocha dawned designs that also spoke to the garden theme. As oversize floral decals continue to trend upward, Siriano grabs hold of the latest fashion and delicately sprinkles it throughout his collection. The blooming decal adorns dress hems, tailored sleeves, gloves, and midriff cut-outs. Black and white take hold of this collection, outfitted in several red carpet-worthy offerings, but golden yellows and magenta tones create the right pop for a fall/winter collection.

Among those seated in front was Hollywood’s writer of the moment, Quinta Brunson, who wore a black outfit with a plunging pointed neckline. Julia Stiles sat beside her in a pink gown with long sleeves while the iconic Lindsay Lohan ––who was supporting her model siblings Dakota and Ali–– sat in a brown satin ensemble.

Our CEO Claire Sulmers also attended the event in a full black ensemble and fur boa.

Last night Lebron James broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record. Surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bron scored his 38,388th point. Although his team, the Lakers, did not win against the OKC Thunder, James left Crypto Arena a history-making winner.

Before the game, James’ was only 36 points shy from breaking the record, and the celebs showed up to show their support in style. While the athletic all-star arrived in an all black suit accessorized with a gold pin embossed with the phrase ‘stay present’ and decorated with onyx trimming, courtside was lined with rappers, sport’s stars, and more looking as sharp as his shot.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Wore MSCHF’s Cartoonish Big Red Boot

If you’ve been anywhere online within the past few days, you’ve probably come across MSCHF’s latest design, the Big Red Boot.

The accurately titled boots look like something lifted off from the cartoon Astroboy and feature a rubber TPU shell with an EVA sole, with a stamped MSCHF logo. These over-inflated stompers immediately went viral with mixed reviews, but one person, however, whose Team Big Red Boot is OKC Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The NBA tunnel has become a platform for style, and Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most uniquely dressed stars in the league. While walking the tunnel before playing against the Lakers, he wore the Big Red Boots with the Loewe nappa leather zip-up hoodie and the Louis Vuitton washed wavy denim.

The Big Red Boots will drop on February 16th for $350. Let Shai Alexander’s ‘fit serve as inspiration if you decide to cop.

Tiffany & Co. Executive Alexandre Arnault Sits Courtside in the Nike x Tiffany Air Force 1s

Earlier this month sportswear giant Nike, and luxury jewelry brand Tiffany, teased an upcoming collab. Releasing a photo of a Nike shoe box adorned in Tiffany blue, the ad read ‘A Legendary Pair.’ with the Nike swoosh above the Tiffany & Co. logo.

Photo: Tiffany & Co.

Shortly after, images of the collaborative shoe dropped online, and it looks like Tiffany’s Executive VP of Product and Communications (and the son of LMVH founder Bernard Arnault), Alexandre Arnault, is the first to bring the shoe to the street.

Photo: Getty Images

While sitting courtside at a New York Knicks game, Arnault wore the Nike & Tiffany Air Force 1 with black skinny jeans, a black button-up t-shirt, and the Sapphire Rainbow Murakami Hublot watch. A sleek and minimal look for a minimally designed shoe.

Photo: Getty Images

The Nike & Tiffany Air Force 1s will release in spring for $400. A black suede upper covers Nike’s Air Force 1 Low silhouette with Tiffany blue swooshes and laces, black leather shoe buckles, Tiffany branding on the tongue, and a Tiffany silver plate at the heel.

In 2005, skateboarding brand Diamond Supply Co. designed the ‘Tiffany Dunk.’ Made in partnership with Nike, the sneaker, which originally retailed for $65 but currently resells for $3,000+, features the Nike SB Dunk Low silhouette in Tiffany blue with a silver swoosh and black crocodile-embossed overlay.

Photo: StockX

Although the ‘Tiffany Dunk’ is unofficially sanctioned by Tiffany, this design provided sneaker fans enough contrast to deem the Nike & Tiffany shoe low-effort. As soon as images of the shoe hit the net, people were not shy to share their disappointment.

Photo: highsnobiety on Instagram

Some fans have taken to sharing their own ideas for the collab. Like artist Rick Dick who shared 5 concept ideas of what they feel the collab could have been.

Despite the minimal creativity, the Nike & Tiffany Air Force 1s are far more wearable day-to-day than its unofficial predecessor. Regardless of the online debate, there’s no doubt these shoes will sell out and resell for incredibly high prices, just like the Dunks.

Celebs Love: Odell Beckham Jr., Luka Sabbat, Vic Mensa and Money Man All Wore Louis Vuitton’s Blue and Neon Green Gradient Varsity Bomber Jacket

Since the late Virgil Abloh took the reins at Louis Vuitton Men’s, the brand has seen a spike in its menswear offerings. Abloh took his streetwear ethos and American youth culture influences to Paris, where he beautifully harmonized LV signatures with his own.

Among the many new styles born under Abloh’s Vuitton was the Louis Vuitton varsity bomber jacket. The jacket, which is carried in spring and fall collections, became a celebrity favorite from the moment it debuted.

The $10,000 blue and neon green gradient leather style from Abloh’s final spring collection before his passing seems to be the popular pick amongst stylish male celebrities.

We’ve seen it on Luka Sabbat, Odell Beckham Jr., Money Man, and now Vic Mensa.

Mensa is the latest to dawn the jacket and wears it for the cover art of his new single Strawberry Louis Vuitton. Since the visual for this groovy track was made in memory of Abloh, it makes sense that he wore one of his last designs.

Another LV jacket style loved by male celebs is the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama Psychedelic Red Blouson jacket. Rapper Lil Baby dubbed it the “thot jacket” “because everybody has it,” and he’s not wrong. The bright red design outfitted with Kusama’s Psychedelic Flower motif and cream cow leather has been spotted on Lil Baby himself, Moneybagg Yo, Karl Anthony Towns, and Headie One.
