So photographer Karl Pierre, our Editor-in-Chic Claire Sulmers and of course I were on the scene this weekend at ESSENCE Festival! Hundreds of bombers and bombshells came flocking to the great city of New Orleans for a weekend of fun and fashion.
Take a look at some of the fashionistas we captured: This beauty, @aspiringtobe_me, wore an Authoriteez top (I need!) and an ankara shirt and matching blue headwrap. YASSSSSS to all of this.

Wykeesha (@wykeesha.sims) uplifted a Forever21 yellow blouse and floral romper. Cool look!We can’t forget the bombers! We spotted @christienkollection rocking these amazing floral pants and cobalt blue loafers. What do you think?

These sweethearts both rocked off the shoulder rompers while touring the convention center. Cuties!

The fabulous ladies over at @Rue107 showed us some festive colors and prints while working the stand! Yassss to these colors ladies!

This bombshell gave us psychedelic vibes in this multi-colored romper and gladiator sandals.@heygorjess looked absolutely, well, gorgeous in her printed dress and black strappy flats.

The lovely Megan wore a Revolve dress and Louboutin pink heels while off to dinner during EssenceFest!

This fabulous Bombshell (@woahyanna) served us face and outfit in a head-to-toe Boohoo look.

This bombshell sported color on color on color as she made her way downtown at Essencefest! Look, some style is only for the bold, and you got it Queen!

Arieal rocked out in this amazing Kente cloth romper. I need that in my life!

This Bombshell said, “With an hour to get ready, I cut my Asos jumpsuit into a edgy two piece and adding flare with my classic addidas and vintage bag.”

The lovely @ownbyfemme strutted in a fitting day dress and cute nude open-toed sandals. Love her!

Jayla and her auntie posed in matching pink Dashiki’s while out in Nola. How cute are they?!

Jade, aka jadealexarenee said, “I just flew in from Miami for the Essence Fest today (I’m an incoming UCLA medical student and wanted a break!). I had a great time, especially seeing all my favorite natural hair brands! Here is what I wore. Love your page!!”

Spotted was @kizzyy_ at the convention center. I’m diggin this 70s vibe.@TheNotoriousKIA gave us a little daytime sexy in a boudoir-inspired lace and silk dress, paired with comfy sneakers. Cute!

The lovely @ann.wynn rocked a trendy bodycon paired with a vintage kimono. Cute!!!!

Am I alone in thinking the day after a holiday should be a holiday?!? Woo!
At any rate, yesterday, I celebrated the 4th of July with Revolve, who threw a fabulous party in the Hamptons, hosted by Chrissy Teigen.

Ms. Teigen was too busy to take pictures, though we did capture the chic style of the many lovely attendees.

Friends @ImaniImani and @ChianaJ looked gorgeous in off white.

Marina Ingvarsson looked photoshoot ready in a cute jumpsuit, pom pom decorated straw bag, and striped headband.

@Jillionaire was taking a phone call, but wasn’t too busy to pose in printed separates.

Chic couple @Long_Legged_Life and @International_Ade looked patriotic in blue and white tones.

@HeatherNElliott had one of my favorite looks of the day in a ribbed white dress. striped duster, and Chanel flats.

Lauren traveled all the way from Atlanta to take in the festivities! She kept it cute in an olive green jumpsuit.

It got chilly at night! @CookieDubois kept warm in a leather jacket, placed over a chic cocktail dress.

@LovelyPepa came to slay in a gorgeous white dress. She’s hot!

This young man looked preppy in a Boast Clothing crewneck. I think I need that…

Party Promoter Legendary Damon looked dapper in a three piece, red, white, and blue infused short suit. I just love him!

DJ @Maad_Moiselle smiled in Philosophy stripes and Missguided platforms.

Nelly Moudime was spot on in a red dress, American flag printed denim jacket, and a gorgeous Afro. Hot!

@ErinMulcahy and @Jennareyy kept it easy and breezy in sheer pieces and short hems.

Lastly, this attendee felt the 4th of July spirit! She struck a disco fever pose in a printed crop top and matching shorts. Cute!

As for me, I rocked a DSquared2 plaid shirt, Topshop shorts, and Prada sandals that got woefully dirty in the grass:/

A handful of brands have now switched the locations of their tried and true fashion shows to a different fashion capital: whether it be for a special occasion or a much-needed change of scenery. The latest to jump on that bandwagon is Akris which will show its Spring 2017 show at NYFW—a departure from its usual showing in Paris:

The change is taking place for a very good and momentous reason, as Akris’s Creative Director Albert Kriemler is receiving the Couture Council Award for Artistry in Fashion—to be celebrated at the Couture Council Luncheon, which traditionally marks the start of Fall Fashion Week in NYC.

Of the momentous occasion, Kriemler said, “The Akris défilé at New York Fashion Week is a tribute to the city and the country which helped us to become who we are now. And it is a homage to the Couture Council and The Museum at FIT and its curatorial and educational vision.”

The Couture Council Luncheon will take place on September 7 with Akris’s show to follow on September 9.
