Teyana Taylor‘s raw talent was captured Sunday evening during her solo performance in the premiere of Kanye West’s ‘Fade’ video at the MTV Video Music Awards. Following her Lil Kim tribute at this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Taylor upped the ante with a jaw-dropping dance sequence that’s sure to have the streets talking for a few weeks.
The recent mother of 8 month old daughter Iman Tayla (affectionately known as Junie), put her fit, toned body on display as she donned moves reminiscent of the 1980’s Flashdance movie. Her skin glistened as she rolled around on the floor in a crop top and thong, whipping her damp tresses as she moved to the music.
Her recent performances remind us of why we fell in love with the vivacious singer, dancer and designer. From her appearance on MTV’s Sweet Sixteen to her current and most important role as a mother, Taylor shows that she is able to juggle it all.
Her 2007 television debut helped put her on the map. The big-haired, sneaker-head girl with a raspy voice was the textbook definition of a tomboy. Forget high-heels and fancy cars, she wanted exclusive sneakers and high-end bicycles. Her love for luxury footwear would eventually lead her to collaborations with major brands like Adidas and Reebok.
Taylor used her YouTube page as a platform to promote her singing and dancing. She would upload videos of herself covering songs by Alicia Keys, Anita Baker and Lauryn Hill. She would also show off her choreography skills by dancing to hit songs like Beyonce’s ‘End of Time.’ In 2014 she released VII, her debut studio album under GOOD Music. The album was in the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Album category.
Successfully mastering music, dance and design, she embarked on what might be her biggest accomplishment. In December of 2015, Taylor’s fiance Iman Shumpert, basketball player for the Cleveland Cavilers, delivered their baby girl in the bathroom of their home. But more shocking than how the baby was delivered was the photo Teyana Taylor posted to her Instagram six days post baby.
Now we’ve come full circle. Yesterday’s performance reminded the world that Teyana Taylor is HOT! The epic ‘Fade’ video proves this triple threat is one to be watched. Number one album? Check! Bomb dance skills? Check! Talented designer? Judging by her sold out collections, I’d say she is! This video has the potential to take her career to the next level and if all fails, we can at least thank Teyana for our new gym memberships! #BodyGoals
Rihanna took the stage a whopping four times during last night’s VMAs, coursing through her entire musical catalog in high-fashion looks that showed why she deserved her Video Vanguard Award. There was no shortage of color, texture, embellishment, and coveted designers. Here’s the recap of everything she sported for the momentous occasion:
Hood By Air is already one of the darlings of the fashion set, but Ms. Fenty put the edgy brand on the map in a pink and red look that was both gritty and impossibly cute. She was clad in a $215 Cookie Ringer Bodysuit from the brand, anchored with Comme des Garcons pink fuzzy sneakers. Cutler & Gross Classic Jackie O Shades were her frames of choice—because of course Rih had to kick off her performance in shades.
Next up, Rihanna turned the stage into a full-on bashment which pleased my soul! She wore an Adam Selman t-shirt worn backwards, a Rosamosario Fur-Trimmed Bra, Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2016 Couture trousers, and $1,045 Manolo Blahnik Sicariata Embellished Pumps. Whining in couture: I’m here for it.
Have a private dance party in your room with the performance below:
A 80’s-inspired, high-fashion dance party was up next for the bad gal. Vetements Spring 2017 gloves and thigh-grazing boots were on the agenda, along with a daring mullet hairstyle and a purple fur stole.
Check out the performance here:
Before picking up the actual Vanguard award presented to her by Drake, Rihanna sang some of her ballads in a voluminous Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown.

Beyonce cleaned up at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, taking home eight awards, including Video of the Year, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Breakthrough Long Form Video, and many more! Of course she accepted her accolades in a series of designer looks.
Olympians Madison Kocian, Aly Raisman, and Simone Biles presented Mrs. Carter with the Best Female Video award; Bey rocked a gold embroidered jumpsuit from Elie Saab’s Fall 2015 Haute Couture collection.
She accepted her Video of the Year Awards in a white ethereal dress by Barcelona designer Yolan Cris.
The 2016 VMAs goes down in less than 90 minutes! With Rihanna opening the show, Beyoncé and Kanye performing, and a slew of stars slated to be in attendance, it’s going to be a wild ride.
Let’s get into the night’s looks!
Beyoncé shut the carpet down in a feather embellished confection by Francesco Scognamiglio. Cutie Blue Ivy was a New York City princess with a braided ‘do, pink tulle dress, and sneakers.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West weren’t nearly as glam as expected, though I did love Kim’s come hither vintage John Galliano LBD and wet hair.
Nicki Minaj smoldered in a navy, long-sleeve Bao Tranchi gown that hugged her every curve.
Queen Naomi Campbell was ravishing in a strapless Brandon Maxwell number.
A neon wig offset Cassie’s olive Balmain double-breasted blazer and gold Gucci high-waist trousers. I liked this.
Diddy wore a silky kimono for the night, showing that men too can get in on the bedroom to street trend.
Amber Rose was suited up in a black double-breasted Tom Ford suit, a black lacy La Perla bra peeking through, and silver mirror lens Dior shades. She’s never looked better!
Rita Ora skewed edgy in a fur-accented leather jacket and sheer, feather-detailed gown—both by Marc Jacobs.
Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys were easily one of the night’s best dressed couples, with the gentleman in a black and white ensemble and the lady in a red and black printed Just Cavalli gown.
Ariana Grande was clad in an Alexander Wang Spring 2017 black, off-the-shoulder lace ruffle bandeau, black trousers, and a black choker. Cute!
It was all about bombers for both Fabolous and his adorable son.
Jasmine Tookes rocked a star-embellished mini dress. She’s beyond beautiful!
Remy Ma certainly turned a few heads in a long-sleeve, lace-up printed mini dress. So glad she’s back.
Joan Smalls smized in a leather, crisscross bustier crop top and high-waist, zip-front trousers from Off White’s Fall 2016 collection. Stunning.
Winnie Harlow was fierce in a Nicolas Jebran draped dress with a thigh-high slit and leg-wrap sandals. I hope she’s a runway staple during Fashion Month.
Justine Skye was a multicolor dream in a Missoni fringe-accented dress and pink pumps. Hot!
Jaden Smith layered it on in an Undercover Lab by Junta Kahashi Fall 2016 coat for the occasion. He’s so cool! I love his style.
Chloe and Halle never disappoint! The young prodigies wore bold patterns, black lace, and stud embellishment—by way of Rodarte with Erickson Beamon jewels.
Dascha Polanco gave denim some flair with embellishment and a floor-grazing, one shoulder lace hem top by Yuna Yang.
Tinashe was draped and elegant in a red Juan Carlos Obando ensemble. Radiant!
Ashley Graham served curves in a sheer, long-sleeve embellished Naeem Khan gown. She’s a constant fave of mine for a reason.
Jidenna uplifted cropped trousers and loafers with a printed tunic. His style is impeccable.
Future elevated a simple, all-black look with a studded blazer. He always looks amazing.
2Chainz was practically Gucci down to the socks. He loves the iconic Italian fashion house—we can’t blame him!
Why wear a shirt? Ty Dolla Sign left his open for the evening. His swag was on 100!
Quvenzhane Wallis is all grown up! The beauty served up Victorian vibes in a white tiered dress and loads of jewelry.
Hailey Baldwin sizzled in a sheer embellished Georges Chakra jumpsuit. Werk Hailey!
Major keys were raining down once DJ Khaled arrived. His tux was dapper!
Britney Spears opted for a sultry Julien MacDonald Fall 2016 LBD with a sheer inset and asymmetric neckline.
There was nothing funny about comedian Sasheer Zamata’s red ruffle-accented C/MEO Collective crop top and mini skirt. She came to slay. Hot!
Heidi Klum flaunted her toned gams in a long-sleeve, colorful embellished number.
Prints and abundance were in abundance for Jeremy Scott and model Stella Maxwell. His designs are always so much fun.
Holland Roden was white hot in a floor-grazing cape and matching jumpsuit.
Selenis Leyva was on-trend in a long-sleeve, turtleneck crop top and high-waist pencil skirt.
Nicole Polizzi shimmered and sparkled in a sequin gown. Gorgeous!
A multi-hued, long-sleeve crochet Balmain piece was on the agenda for Hailee Steinfeld. This was fab.
Bell Biv Devoe made a surprise appearance. The guys were a bit casual for the event, but they looked great nonetheless!
A zigzag Louis Vuitton bomber was on the menu for Nick Jonas. Any artist who has a song named “Bacon” is alright with me.
Taylor Hill was pretty in pink, slipping on a one-shoulder Moschino sequin and sheer inset gown with an asymmetric hem.
Liliana Vazquez paired a black, strapless billowing top with a pair of printed wide-leg trousers.
Francesca Ramsey went bold in a orange layered gown, crown braid, and statement-making gold earrings. She’s gorgeous!
Who had your favorite look of the night? Stay tuned as we update with all of the evening’s looks!
