Kendall Jenner celebrated her 21st birthday with dinner at L.A. hotspot Catch. She skewed sultry for the occasion in a Julien MacDonald Spring 2017 Black Lace Up Embellished Jumpsuit:
Kendall added a green fur stole to the statement-making look.
I love discovering new designers, and Africa Fashion Week burst forth with 7 brands you definitely need to keep on your radar. Take a look at a few of my favorites:
1. Rahyma
Night 1, it was all about Rahyma, a brand whose aesthetic skews more traditional by way of vibrant prints and bold colors.
… and saw so many more designs that I loved, including their high low top, blue printed suit, and harem style jumpsuit. Don’t you absolutely love it?
If you want to purchase any of the above, visit Rahyma.com.
I’ve actually known about Midget Giraffe for a while (and have worn a few pieces), so was delighted to see them represent on the West Coast.
Like Rahyma, their designers skew traditional with a contemporary twist. Their floor length gowns, crop top sets, and punchy maxi dresses equipped with side cut outs are definitely droolworthy.
Want evening wear? Look no further than Tina Summers! I loved the last dress so much that I’m wearing it to the Soul Train Awards this weekend (you heard it here first)
Mini dresses, jumpsuits, and glistening gowns–this brand has it all. This was one of my favorite discoveries, and I can’t wait to see what Tina turns out next.
Visit her website here.
Olu Collection had more of a laid back vibe, consisting of jersey tops and pants with oversized pockets. While there was a lot to love for a cool yet chic day, my favorites were the rich, brocade like skirts, shorts, and sets.
Koko Nanga is the brainchild of Maryanne Enanga Mokoko who is of Cameroonian descent. She launched her line in 2013 to, “fortify her perspective on African Fashion.” Comprised of mostly ankara fabrics, her collection bubbles over with fabulous party dresses and chic jumpsuits.
Shop her selection here.
Ngozika O’Keke left her job in the corporate world to launch her eponymous collection. What you’ll find? Sultry separates in a hushed color palette; soft lace, sheer fabrics, sequins, and ruffles. It’s delightfully feminine and fun.
Looking for edgier fare? Boston native Josefa Da Silva has got you covered with leather like quilted fabrics, accessorized with bedazzled black visors and tough coordinating jackets. Nothing is off limits for Da Silva. Sheer, slits up to there…her line is for the unabashedly bold.
I love finding new gems and look forward to seeing how these brands blossom!
What do you think? See anything you like?

When compiling a list of true trendsetters and fashionistas, no list would be complete and thoroughly vetted without the inclusion of one Gwen Stefani. From her No Doubt days to a hugely successful solo career and now being a co-judge on NBC’s hit talent show, The Voice, the adoration her fans (myself included) have for both her music and fashion sense is unwavering. And the proof is in the pudding.
It seems Stefani has tried it all when it comes to fashion: almost akin to making selections from a sartorial buffet. During the early No Doubt days, her look was bright, bold and attention grabbing. Who was the front woman with the turquoise (sometimes pink) hair, braces and rhinestone bedecked eyebrows? The 90’s was a time to experiment with looks, both garish and tame, and Stefani definitely took advantage of the times. Transitioning from bandmate to solo artist in the early 2000’s ushered in a wave of new looks for the “Hollaback Girl” singer. Trading in her colored locks and prominent lip liner for her signature platinum blonde mane and ubiquitous red pout was just the beginning of her fashionable transformation. From rocking midriff baring streetwear inspired pieces from her L.A.M.B. line to becoming a muse for blue chip designers like John Galliano, Stella McCartney, and Zuhair Murad and slaying red carpets, Stefani’s wardrobe is vast and boasts some seriously killer threads.
Even when she dresses down, Stefani’s casual style is actually timeless. Jeans, oversized sunglasses a loose fitting top or a cool sweatshirt accompanied by sky high Louboutin heels or Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers, depending on her mood, make for some pretty cool, effortless outfits for daytime.
Stefani epitomizes what it truly means for one’s style to evolve and leaves us all waiting to see what she’ll experiment with next. So here’s to you, Gwen! A talented artist, genuine fashionista and fabulous designer who shows no signs of stopping. For more, scroll through our picks of her best looks from then to now. What do you think of Gwen Stefani’s style evolution?

Ladies are killing the velvet trend all over the fashion scene. So, who says that men can’t rock velvet as well? Get into this $1,730 Haider Ackermann Blue Velvet Bomber Jacket:
Cool weather realness.
This Bomber features a creased velvet texture throughout the jacket, accented by a ribbed knit stand collar, ribbed cuffs, and hem.
Good thing is, this velvet gem is lined and can easily transition through cold seasons.
Pair this statement piece with an all black ensemble and Chelsea boots for a night on the town.
Beyoncé stormed the 50th CMA Awards last night! In true King Bey fashion, she didn’t take to the red carpet. But she did give us a peek at her gorgeous Zuhair Murad Couture Spring 2016 Floral Embroidered Gown on her website:
Mrs. Knowles-Carter eschewed the silver head piece worn by the model on the runway.
The beauty also took to the stage with the Dixie Chicks to perform “Daddy Lessons”: completely confirming our earlier predictions! She slayed in a J’Aton Couture stunner onstage.
Last night, Kylie Jenner attended her sister’s birthday celebration in the same black Unravel Lace-Up Pants as her sister Kim wore during Paris Fashion Week. Miranda Kerr join in on the fun, wearing her rendition also during Paris Fashion Week:
Kylie went bold in a black netted top, a diamond choker and matching jeweled sandals.
Miranda rocked a black studded jacket over her lace-up pants.
Kim Kardashian went all out in a black Givenchy fur, black strappy heels and long, luscious hair.
Apparently these pants are a hot topic!
Originally I preferred Miranda’s look but now I am leaning towards Kim K.
When Beyoncé released “Daddy Lessons” on Lemonade, we thought the Houston-born superstar was poised to take over the country music industry as she’s done every other category. Well, it seems we were right, as Mrs. Knowles Carter is set to perform at tonight’s 50th CMA Awards:
What King Bey will be performing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it’s a big night for the awards show, so all the stops will certainly be pulled out. Perhaps she’ll take to the stage with the iconic trio, the Dixie Chicks, who sang their own rendition of “Daddy Lessons” while on tour?
That would be epic! We’ll definitely have our eyes and ears peeled any way. Tune in to ABC at 8pm EST for the big event.
