As we continue our Black History Month series highlighting the future icons of our generation, we take a look behind the scenes of a celebrity’s best kept secret; their stylist. Bryon Javar, stylist behind some of our favorite red carpet looks, sits down with Fashion Bomb Daily to talk fashion and making a mark in the industry.

Most people learned of Bryon Javar the moment he styled Karrueche Tran for the 2015 BET Awards in a black and white Stello suit and a La Perla bra. That specific fashion moment birthed Karrueche’s reputation as a person to watch for on the red carpet. The Compton-born stylist began his infatuation with fashion long before that moment. From interning with Laurie Phillips at 19 years old to assisting Rebecca Gross, Lance Gross’s wife, Bryon took time to learn the ropes before he displayed his talents on today’s top celebrities.

Since 2015, we’ve had a chance to fawn over a number of Bryon’s red carpet looks, street style fashion and magazine shoots. Beyond providing a wardrobe for his clients, he fully recognizes the importance of pulling together a complete look that includes hair and makeup. To present a near-perfect finished product, Bryon often collaborates with the best hairstylists and makeup artists so that his vision is perfectly executed.

With trends constantly changing, Bryon holds street style fashion near and dear to his heart. “My favorite thing right now is how big STREET style is playing a part of high fashion. On the runways to the actual streets. That whole 90’s effortless look is beyond my fave. Gowns with bomber jackets adding the old distressed denim jacket to a look to give it a little edge. No matter if it’s a slip dress or on top of a mans suit,” he tells us.

There’s no doubt that Bryon caters to women of all shapes and sizes. “When styling I like a challenge, whether it’s me styling a size 16 or a size 2. I think it’s important to make the client feel that just as much is available for them as it is for a runway model. I like to turn a challenge into a highlighted moment.”

We are currently in a time where stylists are a dime a dozen but a good stylist can take a celebrity’s career to another level. Bryon drops some gems on how to be the best. “My advice to aspiring stylists is to Intern/assist! It’s A MUST, it’s not just about putting a look together for a carpet or having racks of looks for a video shoot, BUT learning how to get those things. Learning how showrooms work, learning how to manage budgets. How you should set up a fitting the correct way, what needs to be in your KIT, etc. So many want to jump in this game instead of doing the work first and paying their dues,” he said.

Bryon’s clientele includes, Angela Simmons, Karrueche Tran, Christina Milian, Olivia Culpo, Jazmine Sullivan, Letoya Luckett, Garcelle Beauvais and Melanie Brown. With his impressive resume, the stylist adds designing to his repertoire. “I’m currently working on my men’s summer collection about to drop this spring, and I’m about to start filming the new season of America’s Got Talent with Mel B, I’m pretty excited about that. “
It’s a safe assumption that Bryon Javar is here to stay and he will continue to make waves in the fashion industry. His ability to capture the personalities of each client and reflect it in their wardrobe is a talent that few have mastered. What do you think?
XOXO- Marsha B.

I popped by Tracy Reese’s Fall 2017 presentation yesterday, and was honored to have backstage access! While there, I caught up with Bok Hee, lead hairstylist for the showing, who coiffed the models in chic looks, styled with Cantu products.
She said, “ Tracy had two ideas, but we combined it into one. She loved the idea of having the top part being a middle part with a really tight, really clean, really shiny and healthy look, then below the ears, she wanted more of a natural texture. Something that was a natural texture for the girls. That was a nice way to look uniform, but individual with their own textures.”

To achieve the look, she used three Cantu products, namely their Dry Co-Wash, Heat Protector, and Edge Control Gel. She says, “One of my favorite hairsprays is called Dry Co-Wash. It makes the hair dry, fluffy, and textured without being sticky, wet or hard. It’s an interesting texture. Everyone is coming out with that dry texture spray. Dry Co-Wash gives you a little bit of a separation and separates the hair without it being wet or sticky.”

She also used the thermal shield heat protector on the scalp. She says, “Our team flat ironed the hair to the ears. This product makes hair look shiny and healthy.”
And we know everyone loves edge control! Hee offers, “We use edge gel to make the hairline gorgeously tight and clean, so that the eyebrows come out, the cheekbones come out, and so that the face is just glowing. When you make the hairline really tight, it makes the woman more beautiful. That’s what frames your face and brings out that beauty.” Agreed!
If you’d like to achieve a similar look, indulge in Cantu Products here.
What did you think of the hairstyles at Tracy Reese’s Fall 2017 show?

Of course Beyoncé wears custom garments to perform and attend the 2017 Grammy’s! The superwoman graced the stage in a series of looks from Peter Dundas‘s first eponymous line (before launching his own lined, he designed for Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli). Mrs. Carter’s looks were styled by Marni Senofonte.
She blessed the stage in an intricately gilded look, replete with a regal headdress.
She flaunted her belly in a coin adorned bikini. Yes, again to the headdress and the jewels!

She enjoyed the show with hubby Jay Z, sister Solange (who wore Iris van Herpen), and brother in law Alan Ferguson in a floor length red sequined gown.
In case you missed her performance, check it out here:
I think Beyonce looked beautiful! And honestly, have we ever seen a pregnant woman perform at an awards show in this way?
Way to make history, Bey! She will always be and will forever remain iconic.
What did you think?
The 59th GRAMMY Awards went down last night and it was surely an awards show to remember! Though we were upset that Beyoncé didn’t take home more GRAMMYs, we definitely got our lives during her performance. And can we talk about Bruno shutting it down in tribute to Prince? We’re still on a high because of it!
Here, our favorite ensembles of the evening:

We’ve all been wondering what Peter Dundas would do next and he showed us last night! The designer outfitted mommy-to-be Beyoncé in a slew of breathtaking looks: one being this long-sleeve sequin gown. Beyond gorgeous.

Rihanna bared her toned midriff in a daring Armani Privé gown, with an orange molded bustier and full contrast black, high-waist skirt. By far, one of the sexiest looks the brand has ever created!

Solange was gilded on the red carpet in a ruffled, gold Gucci confection. I live for her style!

In her second look of the night, Solange was a wispy, ethereal queen in a romantic draped Iris Van Herpen Couture dress. Stunning, no?

Jennifer Lopez was pretty in pink in a Ralph & Russo number with an ethereal neckline and sultry slit. This was perfection.

Before ceremoniously giving half of her trophy to Beyoncé, Adele was already a winner in our hearts in an olive Givenchy Couture gown with sheer polka dot sleeves.

Chrissy Teigen turned more than a few heads in a black sheer Roberto Cavalli cutout gown with strappy accents and a feather hem. Hot!

Laverne Cox smoldered in a leather Bryan Hearns LBD with sexy side cutouts. In a word: #goals.

Taraji P. Henson was playful in a fun Marc Jacobs mini dress, emblazoned with a spaceship and lightning bolts.

Cynthia Erivo brought the drama in a strapless Luisa Beccaria gown fit for a queen.

Mya was suited up in a Styland pairing. The pussybow was a bit of a distraction, but I’ll always take a red carpet sighting from this beauty.

Tinashe flaunted her curves in a black satin Alexander Wang gown. Not as glamorous as I would’ve liked, but she looked stunning nonetheless.

Stripes were Kat Graham’s choice for the evening, dazzling in a one-shoulder Jean-Paul Gaultier design.

Lady Gaga left very little to the imagination in a cropped jacket and chain-detailed hot pants by Alex Ulichny. She’s back in her rocker chic bag and I’m here for it!

Heidi Klum shimmered and sparkled in a silver sequin Philipp Plein mini dress.

Before her rousing performance with Alicia Keys, Maren Morris sizzled on the red carpet in a purple lace Michael Costello gown with two thigh-high slits. I’ve got my eye on her!

Nick Jonas repped for the fellas in a studded Balmain jacket. This is what simple and chic looks like for the gents!

We knew Zuhair Murad had to make an appearance on the red carpet! Celine Dion went bold in a green sequin gown from the brand, embodying the word “diva”.

Sequins and feathers were on the agenda for Katy Perry in Tom Ford. Not my favorite look from the star, but it was indeed glamorous and decadent.

Halsey gave us a TLC-reminiscent look in a blue Christian Wijnants set. I’m always here for a 90’s moment!

Demi Lovato dropped jaws in a long-sleeve sheer, woven Julien MacDonald gown. She’s never looked hotter.

We don’t get many red carpet appearances from Faith Hill, but perhaps that will change with her upcoming tour with husband Tim McGraw! She couldn’t be missed in a long-sleeve Zuhair Murad gown with a sexy keyhole and front slit.

Tori Kelly eschewed embellishment for an impactful green Badgley Mischa ruffle gown that served up serious flamenco vibes. Gorgeous!

Clearly, red was one of the night’s biggest shades! Carrie Underwood wore it, in the form of a Elie Madi embellished gown with a high-neckline, front keyhole, statement-making sleeves, and a front slit. Certainly not for the faint of heart, but the star pulled it off.

Camila Cabello was the belle of the ball in a floral embroidered Miri Couture gown with a beautiful tulle skirt.

If fashion runs in the family, then Paris Jackson is destined for greatness! She wore a multi-hued Balmain cutout gown with double slits. She’s definitely one to watch!

Lea Michele left the fake lashes at home, but made sure her toned abs were present! Her sheer, floral-embellished Roberto Cavalli set was perfect for the occasion.
Who had your favorite look at the awards show?
Before the Grammy’s, stars popped by Clive Davis’s annual Pre-Grammy fete, looking bomb at every camera flash!
Check out a few highlights:

Rita Ora went for understated in Elie Saab Spring 2017.
The night honored BET’s Debra Lee! She rocked a sleeveless dress with a floral appliqué detail.
Mary J Blige had one of my favorite looks of the night! The metallic color of her Wolk Morais dress worked perfectly with her platinum hair. Yes!
It’s good to see Britney Spears out and about. Her Uel Camilo Atelier Spring 2016 dress was pretty, though her hair and makeup could have used a bit more polish.

Lorde popped a t-shirt under an Alex Perry Pre-Fall 2017 dress.
Cynthia Erivo wore a sheer, starry printed Monique Lhuillier Fall 2016 gown.
Halsey shined in an Off White one shoulder jumpsuit.
Kris Jenner and daughter Kourtney Kardashian hit the carpet together! Kris worked a look by Dolce & Gabbana, while Kourtney sizzled in a black sheer dress with cut outs.

Kandi attended the festivities in a Diane von Furstenberg black dress with a high slit.
I love what Wouri Vice is doing with Andra Day! Her Issey Miyake ensemble was spot on.

Tamar Braxton wore a sheer, caped creation by Alexia Klein.
Lastly, are Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa back together? If they are, they make a gorgeous couple! And I absolutely loved Amber’s Attico red and black two toned dress. It’s a great Valentine’s Day dress!
And that does it!

So remember when I said I was trying out Curél Hydra Therapy? It’s a new ‘wet lotion’ that you apply while still wet, after taking a shower! Well, I’ll be honest: it was interesting getting used to the whole process of applying a product to wet skin. I’m used to drying off then applying lotion!
Applying just after showering locks the moisture in. My skin used to get really tight as soon as I was finished drying-off, and now that doesn’t happen– HydraTherapy locks in the moisture before toweling dry. It feels great when it dries, and surprisingly doesn’t have any greasy residue!
You apply it, then pat it dry with a towel. Have you ever tried a similar product?
See more in my video below:

Now, here’s the question: Are you ready to Break the Rules of Dry Skin and give it a try?
Disclosure Statement:
I have partnered with Curél to share how I break the rules of dry skin. Please visit here to learn more about Curél Hydra Therapy and how you can end dry skin for good.
The disruption of politics and government—and arguably Twitter—as we know it has shaken us all up, especially for those of us who equate our creativity and freedom of speech with our livelihood. Michelle Smith has felt as frustrated and oft confused as we all have, so she channeled those feelings into her latest collection, aptly titled “Fractured”.

She channeled that divided and torn sentiment into ensembles that were quite literally fragmented, though done rather beautifully. The cutout shoulders on a cozy cropped turtleneck, sultry double slits on a slinky LBD, the asymmetric button placket on a white shirt—the designs were essentially modern-day riffs on wardrobe staples as we know them.

Coats were warm and oversized‐bringing a bit of a masculine touch to the assortment. Though they ultimately seemed like fashion girls’ answers to outerwear: very few were buttoned up and closed. A very interesting contrast to the very cold New York City weather, post-blizzard.

Some of the designs were were way sexier and much bolder than Milly has gone in the past. Barely-there shorts, plunging necklines, and sheer gowns spoke to the sultrier quotient of Tinseltown who dare to bare when the occasion calls for it.

Fans of the brand include Gabrielle Union, Solange, Camila Alves, and Alesha Dixon, thus we fully expect to see the aforementioned ladies in these designs in the coming months. A sequin slip dress with an asymmetric hem would work for one of Solange’s high-fashion events, while a cutout LBD was practically made for the Being Mary Jane star.

This weekend was on fire with loads of star studded events, including the NAACP Image Awards. All of the best in black entertainment blessed the red carpet.
Take a look:
Tracee Ellis Ross opted for a form grazing gown by Ulyana Sergeenko.
Lil Mama looked pretty in Anicy Manuguian.
Yara Shahidi looked lovely in Blumarine Fall 2016. I love how she’s always age appropriate and fabulous!
Kerry Washington skewed demure in a Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2017 floral dress.
Tika Sumpter rocked a Solace London Resort 2017 ruffled strapless jumpsuit.
A Cinq à Sept “Harmonia” tiered gown was the call for Uzo Aduba.
Regina Hall wore a gold sheer halter neck gown from Genny.
Janelle Monae showed serious leg in an Ashi Studio dress. I loved this!
Another look I loved: Gabourey Sidibe in an African printed Ofuure dress.
Adrienne Bailon opted for a Fouad Sarkis Couture gown.
Lastly, Chloe and Halle seriously slay. I love every little thing about them, including their Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2017 frocks. And their hair–I need to know who does it. They are bomb!
That does it!

Was there any other city to be in besides Los Angeles this weekend? Before the 59th Grammy Awards kicked off, the stars congregated in Owlwood Estate for the Roc Nation Pre-Grammy Brunch hosted by Diddy. Almost every celebrity that is hot right now was in attendance and dressed to impress. Double breasted suits, spring colors, and ruffles were a popular thing at this affair, and we’ve got the proof.
Check out some of the looks from the brunch below:

The Roc’s princess, Rihanna, emitted spring-like vibes in white high waist trousers and a multicolored high-low crop top from the Delpozo Spring 2017 collection. She completed her look with Jill Heller diamond cuffs and a Benedetta Bruzziches clutch.

Jay Z and Diddy posed with Tiwa Savage in double breasted, colored suits. Jay Z opted for a more low-key look pairing his burgundy suit with a white t-shirt and black shoes while Diddy color blocked his coral coat with grey slacks.

Tiwa Savage chose the classic color black for her outfit and added fur Gianvito Rossi Zelda sandals to bring the look together.

Remy Ma was pretty in pink in a bodycon dress from Intertwine Collection and Gianvito Rossi Glitter Portofino Sandals.

Kelly Rowland did not come to play as she colorfully posed in a RVN NYC African print top and vibrant wrap skirt, an olive green Sandro Paris coat, and a shiny Judith Leiber clutch.

Jaden Smith struck a cool pose next to the Bad Gal herself in a burgundy corduroy coat, black graphic pants and shirt designed by the actor/rapper himself.

Demi Lovato made a subtle appearance in a Milly Pre Fall 2017 white lace bustier top and matching skirt, and ankle strap sandals.

Justine Skye was eccentric in an MSGM skirt and top that blended in with her purple tresses, Stuart Weitzman pumps, and an Edie Parker clutch.

June moved to the beat of her own drum as usual in a flowing flower dress, metallic platform oxfords, a top hat, and a classic Chanel bag.
