Fashion News: A$AP Bari to Show Vlone at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris

How many A$APs are there? No seriously—I cannot keep up with all the members of the crew! They’re known for their style and the industry has certainly embraced them, with A$AP Bari announcing some pretty major news just a few days ago. He will be taking his line Vlone to Men’s Fashion Week in Paris:

After the designer created his very own Vlone x Nike Air Force One—which has no confirmed release date yet—it seemed only a matter of time that Bari and his line would make a big move. During his June 23rd show in the 1st arrondissement, he will debut his initial collection of cut-and-sew designs, along with some pieces he is having made in both Italy and Japan—as reported by WWD.

“I might do a denim program,” Bari stated. “I might do some leather pieces. I’m not sure.” He may be keeping us on our toes, or legitimately still may be mulling it all over as showing in Paris is no small feat! And the burgeoning style star hasn’t confirmed whether or not he’ll add a shopping, pop-up element into the mix, as he’s known for staging those all over the globe. Two things he has made plain are that a smattering of Vlone aficionados will be invited to the show, as well as his casting of real people for the presentation.

Most designers would show in the City of Light if they could, but Bari’s goal is larger than that. Of the show’s purpose, he affirmed, “I’m trying to show kids that you can do anything.” He continued, “I’m not a kid that went to fashion school. I’m not a kid that went to college and studied fashion. I’m a kid that grew up in fashion and learned it from a life experience.”

And to be clear—this collection is for “the people” and for “the world” according to Bari. “If Barney’s wants to come and buy some clothes, they are going to have to buy the whole lifestyle of Vlone and let me shut down Barneys and bring in my own vision,” he exclaimed. “Other than that, they can’t have it. It’s for me. It’s not for someone to take my s–t and resell.” We feel him!

He also commented on the whole Gucci and Dapper Dan fiasco. “I feel like nobody should hate on what somebody gets inspired by,” Bari asserted. “But it’s sad that it takes 20 or 25 years for them to be inspired by Dapper Dan when he could have been a designer for Gucci. Why didn’t Louis Vuitton give him an opportunity to design for them?”

Vacation Beauty Bomb: Lash Extensions and Eyebrow Tinting at The Lash Gallery with Rochelle-R.E. Magno

Happy Thursday, folks!
So as I wrote here, I’m going to Haiti this weekend for an Artisan, Fashion, and Agriculture press trip. When I travel, I never want to be bothered with lots of makeup or maintenance, so I decided to get lash extensions and eyebrow tinting at the Lash Gallery (205 E 16th St, New York, NY 10003). Peep the before and after:

Bam!
I opted for eyebrow tinting ($20) vs. microblading ($800) because my skin keloids and microblading is basically a tattoo! My brows were tinted using a Henna product and should last a week.

My lashes, which cost $400 for your first session and $125 for touch ups, should last 2-4 weeks.

I would not recommend you take an HD picture with no makeup on! But I do recommend you pop by the Lash Gallery if you plan to travel or would just like a fun summer look with little effort. You can literally wake up: flawless.

Or at least better than normal! LOL.
Visit their site here to schedule your appointment. Ask for Dr. Rochelle R.E. Magno and tell her I sent you!

Virgil Abloh of Off-White Teams Up With IKEA To Recreate The “Frakta” Shopping Bag

IKEA’s oversized blue “Frakta” bag is no secret to the masses of minimalist shoppers. It’s even inspired high-end designers like Balenciaga, but now they’ve found a designer whose architectural vision matches their own: Virgil Abloh from Off-White.

According to Fashionista, Abloh is collaborating with IKEA to provide a new spin on the practical 99 cent “Frakta” bag. The designer gave the polypropylene material bag a theme name titled “Sculpture” that will read in a black bold print across the new bright yellow bag.

The new design was introduced officially on IKEA’s Instagram today but was first viewed and briefly discussed at the IKEA Democratic Design Days conference in Sweden. Only the beginning process was shown as it consisted of a yellow version, as well as the classic blue version as well.

Abloh and IKEA’s head of design, Marcus Engman explained why they decided to team up in the first place and it’s simple, the home goods retailer is highly intrigued by the designer’s architectural vision, street aesthetic and music background.

Abloh said, “We’ve gone to work, you know, on my interpretation of the classic bag.” “There’s so many iconic things that makes IKEA, IKEA and…Theres so many moments to work in a design career with the absolute best.”

Not only will Abloh design a new bag for IKEA, but will use his influence in the home department too. In the video below, they explain how he will help millennials from across the world redesign modern furniture pieces for their homes.

Spring 2017 Trend: 5 Ways To Accessorize Using Body Glitter

Spring 2017 is all about shining! Glow like the best of them with this season’s body glitter trend.

The girly confetti is typically applied to your face to enhance that already beat glow. But wearing it in your hair, arms, chest, and even on your rear has been gaining a lot of buzz at festivals and as a daily look (the hairstyle below is often referred to as the Unicorn or Mermaid look.)

Body glitter has been spotted at festivals like Coachella, and we’re sure we’ll see it lots this summer. But you don’t have to attend a huge extravaganza in order to successfully slay.

It’s been treated so much as an accessory staple that it can be worn going out to brunch, girls day/night out, on a shopping spree, happy-hour and more.
Behold, five ways to you work the look:

1. In Your Hair

“#GlitterRoots,” which was trending on social media, shows a number of individuals from Makeup artist’s to fashionistas spreading glitter along the root of their hair follicles to add some flavor to hairstyles like up-do’s (messy bun or two-part ponytail), braids, and more.

Want to find out how to do it yourself (with no mess?). Behold Deanne Love’s Youtube Tutorial:

2. On Your Body

Body art like this can be difficult to apply on (as well as remove) but makeup artist Mia Kennington of The Gypsy Shrine gives great tips and tricks so glitter won’t become a messy situation.

3. On your chest

Placing glitter directly in the center of your chest offers a pop of shine and glow. This may look best with bra tops or cut-out tops.

4. On your rear

A glittering booty will definitely turn heads wherever you step foot! Reserve this look for the beach or a festival.

5. Glitter Under The Eyes

Glitter underneath your eyes is another unique way to add some sparkle to your look. There are multiple ways you create this look: triangular shapes and oval shapes are some of the most popular.

Want to try it yourself? Makeup brand “Go Get Glitter” has a full starter kit with three color pigments, a brush and adhesive glue included. Get it here.

The Body Shop has this Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil that I’m sure will pop on melanated skin! Get yours for $22 here.

Other brands like M.A.C, NYX, Wet n Wild, BH Cosmetics and The Gyspy Shrine sell glitter pigments separately.

To wash off the artwork, use baby oil or a warm wash cloth.

Throwback Thursdays #TBT: The Style Evolution of Rita Ora

Cover after cover, shoot after shoot, and carpet after carpet, this Albanian/British import has been the hot button topic of many a conversation when it comes to her style.  Singer, actress and personality, Rita Ora, makes it a mission to turn a few heads: in doing so, landing her atop a myriad of best dressed lists.  With a slew of designers who yearn to dress her and her innate sense of style, she rarely, if ever, disappoints.
During Rita’s introduction to the music scene, her style was reflective of her sound.  Fun, young, and energetic, crop tops, sneakers, and quirky printed bodycon dresses exemplified her aesthetic at the time.
But like any other woman, a classic LBD goes a long way.  Head full of bouncy curls, a vivid lip, and strings of necklaces leveled up Rita’s classic looks back then.
Rita eventually started taking a few risks, wearing designers like Jeremy Scott for fun, chain-linked embellished pieces and Alexandre Vauthier for more saucy, slinky selections that showcase a whole lotta leg.
And can we take a moment to ogle her Met Gala moments?  In 2014, she wore a beautifully embroidered champagne colored Donna Karan Atelier gown.
Vera Wang’s silver gown festooned with feathers slayed in 2016.

And this year’s stunner: a red, braided mermaid Marchesa gown with an elegant, oversized bow perched on the shoulder was the the talk of the town.As for her street style, Rita loves playing with layers, textures and prints more these days.  Leather dresses, oversized longline blazers and bomber jackets worn as dresses speak to he affinity for mixing athleisure with glam accoutrements.
The style star doesn’t stop when the sun goes down either.  Rita loves to paint the town red at dusk in bustier tops paired with tailored trousers, dainty tiered lace dresses, or a sexy sheer skirt.
Rita’s obvious love for fashion and streetwear landed her a sweet collaboration with Adidas to design several collections of vibrant, printed street and athletic wear for women.  It’s no surprise to see her rocking a few pieces from her own collection when she’s out and about in Londontown or catching an early morning flight.

Here’s to a girl who truly loves to experiment with style.  Rita enjoys taking calculated risks and keeps onlookers gawking, excited to see what she’ll sport next.  Hot off the heels of hosting America’s Next Top Model’s latest season and filming in the box office hit 50 Shades Darker, we’re excited to see what else is in store for her this year!

On the Scene: The 42nd Annual Gracie Awards with Lynn Whitfield, Jeannie Mai, Susan Kelechi Watson, and More!

The 42nd Annual Gracie Awards put some of our all-time faves on the red carpet—iconic actresses who we rarely see out and about!

Check out who was in attendance and what they wore:

Icon Lynn Whitfield picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for her work in Greenleaf—the belle of the ball in a strapless, black and white print tiered design. Legendary!

The Real’s Jeannie Mai flashed a bit of midriff in a long-sleeve crop top and high-waist, embellished curve-hugging skirt. This was fab.

Susan Kelechi Watson glowed in an off-the-shoulder, draped number with a woven bodice. She’s gorgeous!

Lifetime Achievement Honoree Debbie Allen was flanked by her gorgeous daughter and handsome husband. What a beautiful family.

Lisa Ling went bold in a cobalt ruched gown. Nice to see her on the red carpet!

Shaun Robinson kept it simple and chic in a black Ramy Brook v-neck gown.

Jessica Parker Kennedy also kept it pared-down yet pretty, though her long-sleeve dress had a lace neckline. Hot!

Clearly, a woman can never go wrong in a great all-black ensemble! Beverly Bond chose a tuxedo-inspired, floor length number with a thigh-high slit.

Chrissy Metz shimmered and sparkled in a navy sequin stunner.

Nischelle Turner uplifted simple black accents with a high-waist full, floral print skirt. One of my go-to looks—you can never go wrong with it!

Get the Look: Vanessa Hudgens’ Instagram Gucci Blind for Love Bag and Leather Mules

Vanessa Hudgens was spotted in West Hollywood grabbing an ice cold beverage from Alfred Coffee. The High School Musical star did not let a day off keep her from looking chic as ever. She wore an oversized blouse from Storets tucked into a pair of light blue distressed jeans belted with- you guessed it- Gucci’s leather belt with double G. She accessorized her look with Gucci’s sold out Blind for Love bag and the brand’s Leather Mules.

Days off are usually jam packed with errands. Gucci’s Blind for Love bag is perfect for a day of running around in any city. The monogram bag is flanked with embroidered red roses (an ever-growing trend) with tan leather straps and trimming. Sadly, it looks like it’s sold out, but you can find more ‘Blind for Love’ accessories from the Italian brand, here.

The drool worthy mules are designed with Gucci’s double G atop the signature two toned stripe.

As if it weren’t already to die for, the slip ons are adorned with pearls at the heel.
