Spring 2017 Style Inspiration: 4 Ways to Rock the One-Shoulder Poplin Shirt Trend

Last summer it was all about an off-the-shoulder look. While we’re still here for the shoulder baring trend, this season calls for a little less skin with one-shoulder styles. For a few ideas on how to style the trend, get into today’s outfit ideas.

Style a pair of high-waist distressed denim shorts with a one shoulder top and lace-up caged sandals.

Complete the look with a snakeskin satchel, beige satin-trim fedora, and crystal embellished oversized square-frame sunglasses.

Dress up a pair of white skinny jeans with a deconstructed striped one-shoulder top.

For a pop of color rock a pair of pink suede pumps and a crystal embellished skinny belt. Add the finishing touch with a white quilted shoulder bag and chic silver accessories.

Keep it cute and casual in a twisted red and white striped one-shoulder top paired with distressed blue skinny jeans.

Accessorize with a top-handle leather satchel, red lace-up sandals, and cat-eye frame sunglasses.

Opt for a monochromatic look in a pair of black frill hem cropped pants and a white one-shoulder poplin top.

Opt for chic details to complete the look with a pair of fringe ankle strap sandals, a monogram canvas and leather handbag, tiered tassel earrings, and round-frame sunglasses.

What do you think of today’s trend inspired style inspirations? How would you wear the one-shoulder look?

Throwback Thursdays #TBT: The Style Evolution of Diddy

Should a dictionary be created with photographs as definitions, this week’s throwback would have at least three entries, each under swag, mogul, and hustler.  The man has pretty much conquered it all.  Music, branding, investing, starting a charter school, running a marathon, acting on Broadway, his list of accomplishments seem endless.  Believe me, I could go on.  But what makes him stand above most aside from what he and Bad Boy have done for hip hop, but what he’s done to bridge the gap between music and fashion over the years.  Sean Combs, now known as Diddy, may have had many a name change, but one thing that did stick with him is his innate sense of style.
During the 90’s, Bad Boy Records experienced major success, especially with late hip-hop legend Notorious B.I.G.  It was all about flair and letting onlookers know they’d arrived.  Flashy designer shirts and shiny suits were the name of the game.
As time progressed, and Puff Daddy transitioned to P. Diddy, there was a slightly more crisp approach to his style of dressing.  His suits, mostly pinstriped, were a little more tailored, and always paired with a silk necktie.  His love for fashion led him to create one of the most successful clothing lines and one of the most anticipated New York Fashion Week shows started by a hip-hop mogul: Sean John.

P. Diddy eventually dropped the “P”, but gained a whole lot more style.  Still a fan of a designer suit, more modern tailoring, fabrics and colors evolved Diddy’s wardrobe.  From suits in light colors for appearances to tuxedos in white and navy for the red carpet, the man stays as sharp as a tack.  And thanks to style architect Derek Roache, who has been with Diddy for at least fifteen years, Diddy never has an off day.

When the occasion doesn’t call for a suit or black tie, Diddy still reminds us that even in casual gear, he comes ready to deliver tons of swag.  Givenchy pullovers to Gucci polos and Versace printed shirts, the flair doesn’t stop, even in sneakers and jeans.
To one of the busiest men in the game, who despite his hectic schedule, still makes being fly as paramount as the closing the next big business deal, Diddy, we salute you, not only for your sense of style, but for your unending drive to inspire, teach and succeed.  For more of Diddy, check out our gallery above!  What do you think?

Susan Sarandon smoldered in a black leather maxi skirt, black blazer, and white button-front shirt—all from Chanel. Hot!

Lily Donaldson was white hot in a Dior tulle confection. I loved this dress.

A simple silk gown was on the style agenda for Robin Wright. What’s not to like?

Show Review: Ginger & Smart Resort 2018

Australia Fashion Week is underway! I’m obsessed with Ginger & Smart’s latest Resort 2018 collection, which took its inspiration from famous artists.

The works of postminimal art movement pioneer Eva Hesse, sculptor, painter, and filmmaker Niki de Saint Phalle, and modern architecture and furniture visionary Ray Eames all influenced brains behind the brand Genevieve and Alexandra Smart. Looks certainly were artful—exploding with wispy petals, graphic prints, geometric-shaped bags, and full puff sleeves.

The accessories were some of my favorite parts of the collection. Cool and bold oversized gold hoop earrings, ankle-wrap sandals, and vibrantly-hued bags were not only functional, but great future wardrobe additions.

A metallic crop top and its accompanying choker were as on-trend as it gets, while an off-the-shoulder blouse layered under a jumpsuit gave me real-time styling tips.

A décolletage-baring top with double rows of puff pleats looked like just the piece for Solange. And a sheer fringe design was practically made for the Hadid and Jenner sisters.

Definitely keeping an eye on this brand! This collection was fab.

Thoughts on the latest from Ginger & Smart?
